Movement81 explore the interconnected wormholes between 80's indie synth and 90's dance in a spaceship from the future, powered by the collective energy of today. Piloted by two Swansea-based Fine Artists and philosophical researchers, Jason&Becky, their flightpath often connects with the wider themes of their art practice, realised through immersive, interactive audio-visual (AV) installations. Their electronic music & live AV performances meander between uplifting dance & pensive minimal techno, blending resampled audio & visuals with new & original material.
Having recently joined independent Danish label Petite Victory Collective (PVC), their debut release “Pride/Bassic” featured on Adam Walton’s @bbcintroducing Radio Show as well as forming part of their live AV set supporting @Plaidofficial at Clwb Ifor Bach and @MaxCooperMax at Tramshed, Cardiff in October ‘23. Their latest release, “Gift”, featured on Jaguar’s BBC Radio 1 Dance show and is available on Bandcamp and Spotify 🎧

Got to say, Darkness doesn't come particularly naturally to us but here we go... that's the beauty of the HWJ challenges. There is a little Ableton plug in running for some soundscape stuff with everything else from the MPC and Braids with a slow sequence from the Metropolix going into the BlackHole DSP

Cheers Nev! Thanks for checking it out. We use resolume to create our visuals and either green screen or project from there using OBS. Sometimes we use adobe premier to overlay graphics if we haven’t projected/greenscreened them live 👍
