Bioware has not made a good game since ME1. They are a soulless corposlop factory. They make shallow action adventure games for normies who are too stupid to enjoy RPGs. Literally everything about Veilguard looks bad. I guess some of the music was OK. Other than that, it looks like the same vapid, corporate, woke, HR-approved pile of garbage that they and most AAA devs have been shitting out for over a decade. "You're telling me this art style looks bad" as your cursor hovers over the most soulless minimalist text that every other megacorpo project uses. And nothing else in that image is good either. Same washed out colors as every other AAA game nowadays. Super basic and uninspired generic fantasy setting #3345-A4. It's not even particularly noteworthy from a technical standpoint. At best it's mid and at worst it's crap. It's all just so milquetoast. That's the best way to describe it. Passionless. Soulless. Safe. Corporate. How anyone can be excited by this tripe is beyond me, but I have good taste so I find it hard to relate to most people anyway.

Agree with the whole 'Qunari with human skin tone' thing looking off. Personally I thought it was like that in Inquisition too tbh. Also nearly all the impressions that came out for the game today were positive, so LET'S GOOOO... Bioware is back!

I will be honest I didn't watch the whole video because I want at least a few surpirses but from what I have seen it looks amazing. And I love your reaction to it. The hair looks amazing (is it even a Dragon Age game if it has good hair options) and the voice acting is just so good. But anyways just leaving a like and a comment for you.

Hoping that it's possible to make a Qunari Rook a bit less goofy-looking than that, but overall it was a good video. I also was wondering about the whole part where Corinne wasn't dying at like 1 hp and then suddenly died, lol. Hard to tell if they just flicked a dev switch on that one or what to demonstrate the Neve revive thing... (And as a random note, it was kind of silly that they didn't get the healing potion jar thing right before entering the area lol)

It was a very wonderful gameplay video that made the warrior look really cool.

I love how the mage gameplay looks. Its as cool as DA2's mages are.

Hyped for this game STILL. Mage is my usual go-to as I'd feel robbed if I was born into a world without magic. In all worlds tbh. AnyWAYS any thoughts for the gameplay? I just KNOW something suspish is happening with Mage equipment items etc but I don't know what.

"We haven't seen enough" We've seen that they removed one companion slot, that they redesigned elves, demons and god knows what, and that it is a full on action game now. I'm not sure I want to see anymore.

Glad to see you're trying Mass Effect! Definitely one of my favorite series, next to Dragon Age. The first game's pacing is a bit sluggish at times, and combat is pretty janky compared to ME2 + ME3 (especially on non-legendary edition, as you are playing). But there is still a lot to like about ME1.

You are so right my guy. I will never get how anyone says this game looks bad. The game looks gorgeous and the gameplay looks pretty cool. There are issues to take with it but everything they say is just so dumb. They will look for anything to hate. No matter what it is.

The combat point has always been subjective. I play both precision based games like elden ring and hollow knight as well as turn based games.. There's a place and an appeal to both. The dragon age issue comes from the desire, by the studio, to change their target audience of the franchise. This is what I believe is the source of this debate. It's been clear for years, and I think becomes clearer with each release, that Bioware wants to appeal to a more contemporary fanbase (like the one for mass effect), many of which would not appreciate the type of gameplay that games like origins had. This is neither good or bad, but I'm just pointing out that many people got into Bioware games due to their love for that type of gameplay from kotor, BG2 and origins, which the company no longer provides. It's not because they don't understand what they are talking about or have "no grounds to argue on". The company changed and they are still nostalgic for the old Bioware. Modern fans of course don't care and prefer what the company is doing now If you compare them to the likes of Larian studio, all their modern games clearly appeal to a similar audience (DOS, DOS2, BG3). They fine-tune the games and improve their mechanics, but the games are clearly meant to appeal to the same type of player. Bioware makes much more drastic changes from game to game (especially with dragon age) so it almost always leaves some players behind. If you try each of the dragon age games, they all play completely differently. Only cosmetic similarities remain, like the classes, the spells and the fact that it's still a party of fighters taking on pride demons, mages, Templars etc.. And to answer the question you asked around "what's wrong with 2 companions?", for Bioware games i think it would be less dialogue. A big appeal to the party is their banter. If you reduce the characters, you get less of the combinations without having to swap out more characters since you have one less

Seriously, I’m already making the funeral arrangements if this game does poorly to EA standards and they axe BioWare. We don’t need more bs Origin fanboys talking about “it’s not a dark fantasy anymore “ But forgetting that the world of Thedas is NOT supposed to be like that. It was going through a blight which is the apocalypse for the world and the Wardens stopped it. We get that. But I guess they think it is supposed to always stay like that for all sequels and it just isn’t what the devs want. They ASSUMED what Dragon Age is about and are disappointed by their false expectations. To the point that they are making stuff up to justify not liking the new game. The disgruntled ex if you will lol. Also there are some things I’m against per se (like the dialogue wheel but that’s for every game that uses it, so nothing special.) but some critics are just being a bit silly for stuff we haven’t seen/experienced yet. Especially the story. This stupid rumor that all the writers for this game are all new and all the old ones left (and they infer it like it was because they didn’t like how dragon age was heading) BUT just ignore most of them have been on past dragon age titles INCLUDING their beloved Origins. That the old guard left amicably or went to different projects for BioWare. Also the combat is FINALLY something that is enjoyable from what we’ve seen. Inquisitions combat is on the line of terrible. Until we get the specializations, the combat is dull and single button mashing, and even then it isn’t ground breaking. Ever since the second game, they tried to keep Origins tactical mechanics but clearly wanted to make the combat to be fluid. Now they just want to be more real time without too much pauses in between. The only three skills for each unit and only having you and two companions IS a bummer. But I do think it is for the best to make Rook way more important. Also I like how the spirits look, especially lore wise! The viel is coming down, so obviously the demons are becoming more of their natural look! Especially if the fade is affecting them!

I am going to get on board since I’ve been a huge Dragon Age fan since Origins. I’ve played all 3 games, I’ve read all of the comics and novels and watch both the computer animated movie Dawn of the Seeker and the Netflix show Absolution. I can’t wait to play this game in the Fall of 2024. First walkthrough, I'm going to make a red haired Male Elf Warrior, making him similar to Denji from Chainsaw Man. I'll name him Denarus. Or I'll make an albino Male Elf Warrior that looks a lot like Alphen from Tales of Arise and name him Alphen. Second walkthrough, I'm going to make a blonde Female Dwarf Rogue, making her a bit similar to Sophitia from Soul Calibur. I'll name her Sophia. Or I'm going make a Female Dwarf Warrior with short brown hair and make her very similar to Beatrix from Zom 100, naming her Beatrice. Third Walkthrough, I'm going to make a dark haired Female Human Mage, making her very similar to Touka from Tokyo Ghoul. I'll name her Tina. Or I'm going to make a brown haired Female Human Mage who looks a lot like Shizuka from Zom 100, and name her Shirley. Fourth Walkthrough, I'm going to make an albino Male Qunari Warrior, making him somewhat similar to that of Goliath from Gargoyles. I'll name him Golinok. Or I'm going to make a Male Qunari Warrior with a Mohawk and make him look a lot like Kongol from Legend of Dragoon, maybe naming him Kondar. Here’s which companion I’m going to romance as well as bring to my party Denji or Alphen the Elven Warrior, romancing Harding while taking Emmrich with me on my team. Sophitia or Beatrix the Dwarven Rogue, romancing Darvin while taking Neve with me on my team. Touka or Shizuka the Human Mage, romancing Lucanis while taking Taash with me on my team. Goliath or Kongol the Qunari Warrior, romancing Bellara while taking Emmrich with me on my team.

premature to insist people buy into a positive narrative when the game has not been reviewed or released. I was a Bioware fan after I played Origins and Mass Effect. I did not like DA2 and I hated Inquisition. However I am willing to wait and see if this new game is agood game for me and to see other people play and read/see reviews. I believe EA ruined Bioware and I have doubts about this game. So I think you are making a mistake if you say get on board or get off. Everyone has to make their own judgements about Bioware in general esp after EA bought them and this game in particular.

Glad you're excited for it, so am I. It's nice to hear an opinion from someone who started with Inquisition. I was a day one Origins player, and really, it became my fave franchise. It's been such a long wait, but I love the look of it. I don't think anyone can complain about the combat yet, we don't have it in our hands, though I wish we could have three companions again. But hey, again, we'll just have to wait and see. I think it looks it really promising, and as all DA fans know, story is king here. It sure is looking juicy so far!

Who in their right mind thought Spider-Man 2 was game of the year over Baldur's Gate 3? Maybe young kids who didn't play BG3, otherwise that just sounds silly.

I am glad I never played origins. Inquisition was legendary. I won’t be playing this one. But as for the people who will be playing it, have fun 👍 I have my reasons. Too woke and too dei.

Thank you for posting your take! These Origin diehards haven’t replayed the game for some time…. It’s very woke (for the time it was made) and the gameplay is a slog; everytime I even think about replaying it I’m reminded of the mage circle and deep roads and I nope out of that idea. I’m excited to visit the places I’ve only heard of and to meet these new characters!

Thank you for the entirely grounded take. I agree with basically everything you've said. Too many Dragon Age Origin andies who already believe the series died when the credits rolled on that first game. Or just, people with nonsensical arguments like: "lol fortnite graphics", or "looks like Dragon Age: Wokeguard"
