Theres this thing called science which changes based on new empirical evidence and findings and studies into trans people has been going on since the Weimar republic in germany in the 1920s/30s(which the fascists burned down the isntitute for in one of their first public book burnings), so it wasnt SUDDENLY in 2014 that this started changing. Even in the 1970s sociology was starting to try coming up with terminology to classify it. Sorry that you dont understand, or more likely refuse to understand the difference between biological sex (which is not, and never has been in dispute that there is broadly only male/female and cant be altered, though this ignores some pretty big exceptions like women with one or three X chromosomes, XXY, XYY and other intersex biological sexes which do exist), and the other is gender which is a sociological expression of identity which is essentially how one presents themselves and feels and can be in contrast with biological sex. It is essentially the case when a gender dismorphia can be fixed by surgical process or simply by changing lifestyle choices that are more in line with the cultural gender norms they feel comfortable with. As is often stated, you would dislike if someone forced you to wear a dress everywhere you go and call you she all the time. You'd feel uncomfortable with that. Yes, everyone knows that gender can be used interchangeably with sex in a biological sense, but it has a second and distinct meaning from it as well. The biological sex and gender can be out of alignment. Anyone who says that people are thinking they can actually change their biological sex is a liar or incredibly uninformed. Sure you can find a clip of literally anything and some people might have said that at some point but that is NOT what the actual science community is saying when they define sex and gender. The words havnt changed you simply dont understand them, either willfully or due to misunderstanding that they have multiple, isolated meanings.
