Finally got my microphone so now I can do my last year's new year resolution 😊
Thanks gents... Always remember elektron do mark 2 's the first version will always be INFERIOR it's a bummer
Yeee I feel it’s gunna be a good one. How’s you SE??
Goodbye last year, hello new year
A lot of people with the OP-XY saying "what else you could buy for that money?", but a different question is "what gear do you have already that this would replace so you can offload that to help pay for this?". As something of a groovebox collector, I figured there were 4 things I could sell that the OP-XY makes superfluous. Combined with a 10% discount I negotiated, it cost me very little extra out of pocket and I think I have simplified and focused my gear. I'd also note that the Deluge is 8-year old hardware and hitting the limits of its CPU, and Synthstrom have handed software development and support off to the community (which is great but reduces their costs), but is selling for $1500, yet people don't seem to be complaining about that. Not knocking the Deluge, it's great, but the OP-XY *hardware* is definitely a level above the Delly.
Free stuff has been massively underwhelming this year. The one exception that comes to mind is zebralette 3, which is chefs kiss. Paid stuff in software has been similarly uninspiring for 2024. All this talk about tech, AI, etc, but where has the innovation been? Lots of marketing speak throughout 2024 but very little new product. Kilohearts had a good year, bringing a bunch of table shaping tools to sound design, but the years has been a pale shadow of 2023 for new ideas in the market.
Couldn't agree more, the free game certainly has been squeezed. The Marvelisation of Music production perhaps?
One thing I miss is simple backup/upload the P-6 patterns/samples. Without projects layout of any kind it is simply for mess around with samples, make loops n stuff, record it and reload whole unit. If it would be fast n easy I would not even notice it. I dreaming about this kind of integration with Koala sampler in both ways. Like "Koala P-6 mode" that I could switch on/off to store/restore projects.
All AI software can hibernate in my toilet forever unless they can figure out how to run on multiple tracks at the same time whule they actually work together instead of independently. AI with the words mixing in their brief can be set on fire to keep me warm while they lie. Can you imagine paying a sound engineer to work for you but they could only do a track at a time, or the master. As if the interplay of tracks is done by magic.
18:00 Neither of them is a midi-host so that isn't going to happen. (Not directly, anyway)
Aphex twin released software and I'm just hearing about this NOW?

I guess I will focus on Bandcamp and RUclips in 2025 with BluSky for promoting…. It’s rough friends. 💙
I hear you! Bluesky really seems to be coming into its own lately
What’s the free alternative ?
Valhalla Supermassive! :)
Dig the format and discussion subject matter however the audio dudes!
Cheers! Our producer/other host was out that week but the others carried on, the audio is an unfortunate side effect. We fixed the audio for podcasts apps, but typically the levels are a bit better balanced haha thanks for watching :)
Digitone 2 is outstanding
It looks incredible, have you grabbed one?
@ Yeah! Arrived today! I‘m pumped! But I already had used it before at a friend‘s.
good show
Cheers! 🍻
Sorry I missed this live. 😞 Stupid day job. 🔥 as usual!
No worries Abby, I know how that goes! Hope to see you on the next one 😊
How many hours did you put in it? Your workflow is fast! I’m finding myself to get stuck into the menu constantly or searching for some setting….
I had it for two days before doing my livestreams on my main channel (@sunwarper), this demo was after a week of having it. It’s definitely a complicated workflow, but just takes time for it to click. I teach online lessons if you ever need any help or want to expedite learning. You can hit me up here: sunwarpermusic@gmail.com
I'd like to make a point about the sample "limitation" from the standpoint of someone that's not a traditional sample-based producer. The decision of having "one sample per pad" and 48 "pads" rather than an arbitrary amount of storage space, where you then need to assign samples to pads, to me.. is a huge boon to workflow and experimentation. It means that when you go to sample, you pick a pad and do it, and you always know exactly how much space you have. You don't have to manage your storage space separately from your pads. I know for many this is a big limitation, but to me, who has always struggled with sample management (and stayed away from working with samples as a result) I really love this. I consider the samples to be somewhat transient, and am constantly deleting them and resampling into the pads, just experimenting and trying new things, rather than spending all my time sorting through a library trying to find the right one. I think that's the idea behind the device. It's a sampler that's not just about playing samples, but is really all about the joy of sampling itself. It's the first time I've ever really felt joy working with samples, and that's helping me break out into doing more sampling on the MPC finally
There's something creatively inspiring about limitations for sure! We often talk about the "Option Paralysis" of a DAW, and something like the P-6 definitely avoids that with it's "limited" workflow.
Good show. I'll wait for the frankenstein announcement next week
It's really infuriating that they give so many cool options to a toy that are missing from sp404 MK2. Seperate filters per sound, recording options(SP cant even record in mono although it has a mono input), dedicated reverb/delay sends, motion recording of sample parameters, probality options(electron like) in the sequencer, straightforward pattern resampling(exists in sp404 but is quirky). So many stuff for this little shit. How do the owners of sp404 MK2 feel about? I feel like shit!!!! I definitely want all these features in sp404...
I want to sell my mk2 and buy p6!
It is for sure, I wonder if they'll ever add any of this to the SP, or if having it on the P-6 means it will never come
💪
cool - show, subbed to channel 🙂🙃👍
Thanks for the sub!
should have MIDI over usb, the others in the range do, and accept CC parameters over MIDI over usb. Also AIRA isn't the affordable range: TR-8s and system-8 are AIRA too.
It is AIRA compact
I was recommended this video and recognized the voice that jumped into my ears. I jumped on the sub button!
What’s up Krazywabbit, great to see you here! My wife actually got me the P-6 and I streamed my first impressions of it today over on my channel if you want to see more on it - SW
Good show
Thanks!
I hate that I missed this, but I love the format. Thanks for all you do @Audionautic.
You're very much welcome Ben :) All good though, another one next month! We love doing these and are hoping to do then more frequently in the future.
Wow, four years! What an amazing journey it's been. Here's to many more! Comment below with what you've learned from Audionautic for a chance to win some merch ;)
Good show
Cheers :)
Happy 4-year anniversary! I love tuning in and hearing you share the ups and downs of creating music. Your honesty and down-to-earth approach are truly refreshing and inspiring! Cheers to many more years!
True beanz
I learnt from you guys that That i could fit in a comunitty and i could make music well i owe my future to you, Good luck guys Wish you the best
Very good Very Nice 💋
Thank you! Cheers :)
Great episode!
Thanks Thomas :)
Hey guys, do you know the audio version you uploaded for podcasts is only a minute long? Something didn't work correctly
thanks for the heads up. looks like an issue with streamyard's edit render. I'm replacing the file with the full one on podcasts, hopefully that fixes it. cheers - SW
Love it. Track Listing with timestamps would help
Cheers! Totally agree, as it was our first episode with this workflow we were more focused on getting it to work in general without fumbling too much haha we'll have time stamps for the next episode :)
Just ran across this video. It's Aug 2024 at the time of this post. I'm glad the topic is being covered. This hit me hard. I had an inkling Spotify was going to change the structure but I had no idea they were going to take 80% of earnings. I have no recourse and just have to take the hit. This sucks. I didn't get paid a living wage BEFORE, but now I might as well go back to busking. Keep talking about it. Until then " Thanks for robbing me SPOTIFY! "
It's incredibly frustrating and seems like there's no where to get our voices heard. That's why we try to keep up to date on what's going on with streaming and royalties and keep our growing community in the know so we can be a louder collective voice. We're live every wednesday at 11AM pacific if you want to join :)

What’s the best way to use this in Logic?
I think there's a desktop version through the app store, if not, you could run it through your phone and maybe sync with MIDI. If you've got logic for iPad it should open in app
