Fishing for giant uk catfish on the fly new PB alert!
Brilliant video. I live nearby so walk the dog here alot. Hooked into the biggest pike of my life in roughly the same area as that big one he had. Fought for ages but at the net he head shook and bent the hook out. Haven’t been back since.

Can you available tell me we're is this place you fishing please what is country
Nice 🎣🎣🎣💪👌👍
Nice like always 👌 👍 🎣🎣🎣 Can I ask, what kind of rod you use? Thanks
Hi there i normally use a ORVIS CLEARWATER 10# this cast medium to large flys well ,and suits me I also use a HARDY ZANE SINTRIX 330 12# this is great for casting a heavy sinking fly line and big flys , also it’s great for catching catfish on the fly , 💪🎣👍
Tanks for replying 🎣🎣🎣💪👌👍
Nice session mate👊🎣🐊 good to see another fellow pike fly angler 👊🎣🐊 how does the river call if is not a secret mate?
Top angling Ollie. I fish the levels on the fly and fancy giving the reservoirs a shot. Can you bank fish blagdon/chew. I’ve not done any boat fishing before - do they do guided days on boat there at all. Any help appreciated
Hi Jerry You can bank fish at blagdon but only for trout , there is boat fishing for trout and limited boats for pike Flyfishing this is only for a couple of weeks through the year , you can flyfish from the bank at chew for pike and trout , but personally I would recommend fishing from a boat so you can cover lots of water , There are guides available at chew and blagdon but they come at a cost obviously for there wealth of knowledge All the best please don’t hesitate to drop me a message, always happy to try and answer any questions regarding 🎣👍
Thanks robin just trying to show people some of the great stuff we witness when out fishing love this sport and being outside 🎣👍
Stunning fish m8, great watch
Had a 7lber and a 15lber there on a black skinny buzzer whilst fishing for trout. Consecutive casts.

Thanks mate it was a bit of a challenge on my own didn’t really know how big it was to start off with 💪🎣👍😻
Hi Ollie, I'm planning to fly fish for a Cat at Milemead this April. I have a Pike set up but I was wondering how you fished the fly ie slow, quick, stutter etc. Any help greatly appreciated mate.
Hi Alan first thing is just wondering have you booked the whole lake , or fishing with like minded people ,only most carp fishermen don’t seam to like people walking around the lake casting every where ,most lakes/ponds only let us flyfish for catfish if we book the whole lake for this reason, when you say you have a pike set up what weight class is your fly rod as those cat’s must be getting close to 50 lb in there now , I would recommend at least a 10# set up with floating line and 35 to 45 lb mono leader , teamed with barbless fly hook , you don’t need a wire trace but really strong mono hook length/leader As for retrieve April could still be cold so the slower the better depending on water depth ,when fishing though the day , and come up in the water into darkness , listening for feeding cats on the surface at night can help with locating them and when you get a take strip strike to set the hook 🎣💪 Wishing you all the best , I would really like to hear how you get on mate
Well done mate. Fish of a lifetime!!
Excellent footage mate. Keep it coming
Hi great inspirational work, congratulations on you PB cracking fish. Can I ask you why you chose the 12# when most fish 9# or 10#. I’m looking for a new rod for boat and float tube and would rather be overgunned than under and wondered if the 12# may be just that bit too heavy or is it just a matter of getting used to it. I trout fishing with an 8# outfit rather than the usual 7# and love the bit extra it gives me. Thanks in advance Simon
Hi Simon , glad you liked my video it’s early days for me with the filming so hopefully thing’s will be a bit better as I get used to it 🤣👍🎣, the choice of my 12# fly rod came from fishing big flys on a sinking line and normally in rough conditions, I’ve also have taken to Flyfishing for catfish so depending on weather conditions and the water I’m fishing I like to give myself every chance of landing everything I hook , you can’t go under gunned with the big catfish or large pike especially on big waters , obviously it’s a personal choice which wouldn’t suit everyone but most of my Flyfishing is now done on 10 to 12 # rods , I also know a few really experienced fly fishermen who are now using 11 and 12# for there big water pike Flyfishing , it is something you will quickly get used to , but it’s not easy casting a heavy set up all day 💪buying quality gear will help a lot , I personally eat really well and load up with plenty of carbohydrates the night before , and the day I’m fishing it sounds extreme but it works for me I hope this helps and I wish you all the best Please feel free to let me know how your getting on 🎣👍
Thanks for the informative reply, I think I’ll invest in a 10# set up for starters and get that double haul perfected then move up to the big guns. I am with you on eating well and staying off the beers, some think it’s a bit serious but it definitely makes for a better day especially with those mind games the sport can play on you if you are not catching.
10# is a good choice mate the 12 # is a bit extreme but it comes into its own on really big waters , also you can use it for catfish on the fly if you fancy it 💪🎣🐈 , what type of waters are you fishing?
Also are you a member of the pffa lots of like minded people on there , I can give you details on a vision fly rod 10# for sale my friend has one for sale at the moment
