Ballet La Sylphide POB Mathieu Ganio Aurelie Dupont
An excerpt of the ballet La Sylphide danced by the Paris Opera Ballet.
It is danced by Mathieu Ganio, who is their newest étoile being only 20 years in this video (am I right?), Aurelie Dupont and the Corps de ballet of the Paris opera Ballet.

Ètoile of the Paris Opera Ballet, Jose Martinez, dancing the Siegfried variation in the Ballet Swan lake (Nureyev version). www.josecarlosmartinez.com/ Video from his homepage
Impresionante.
Ten stars!! ★★★★★★★★★★
Hard job to dance (thank Nureyev). Stunning. Absolutely brilliant.
Uno de los vídeos mas antiguos de youtube !!
Que , qui eu tô fazendo aí ...
Great version. One of my favorite.
+D H You can tell that a dancer is not suited to the Ashton style after watching a 1min variation? A variation not by Ashton?
Though he had great amplitude on his grand jetes and batteries, it looked like it took a lot of effort, the very best dancers make these moves look effortless. When he does his leaps there's an incredible tenseness around his neck and arms which really eposes the strain that it took for him to accomplish these moves.
You obviously know nothing about ballet, this variation, or what makes a great male dancer.
Unreal the high he jumps.....! // Una locura lo que salta....!!! GIGANTE BUJONES...!
Big jump... not much else. Terrible line and feet. All about the acrobatics and not the artistry. Basically meant to dance Spartacus and not the classical repertoire. It's dancers like him that made the Kirov look down on the Bolshoi.
l saw him live at his time ,and was stunning obviously in certain roles only ,but not a dancer to consider so few imo. still l can't forget his jumps in acteon variation in which is still uncomparable ,and after him saw so many acteons ,but that role still belongs to him.
You seem to not understand about dancing... If you take away spins and jumps, the body stays with very few movements available. Besides this is a variation, men are supposed to show superior jumps and spins on theirs, and dancing with jumps and spins is very hard, making them become an expression of the body accordingly to the music is the hardest part of dancing, but it's what makes you one of the best dancers. This guy is absolutely perfect.
How the heck does he jump so HIGH??!!! :O
Who is the choreographer ?
神やわ!
The skirt... O_O
I agree with you, pediatrapaola, Vladimirov is great but Soloviev's Blue Bird is greater and unsurpassed....
Querido.
that, is how you jump
国宝でも良いと思う。
@MsJobsen Why ? Bournonville made his Sylphide in 1836 after Taglioni (1832)
The great Vladimirov. Wonderful - thank you for the post!
Now, those are entrechats six!
Really... his feet are terrible and not even vaguely pointed.
Bonjour Madame.Salut Paris.Vive Balet.Bravo
Damn, that's impressive
It is rather good, actually, because it is bang on the music - something which makes or breaks this variation as much as the body work.
showoff
He looks like he's weightless, a real bluebird.
Very nice ballet ....Bayadere <<<<<<<<
7 idiot's must not know what true ballet is. Thats just sad. GO FERNANDO!!!! YOU ARE MY FAVORITE!
@USABEAT yup the best feet ever
@USABEAT saw live at his time many times .phenomenal and best feet ever
whooo... niice! i LOVE ballet! most people think its weak.. buuutt.. if you look CLOSELY they are really FIT! it takes some MUSCLE to do THAT! XD
@jgh37 Fair enough, life happens right?
@jgh37 (sadly shakes head). His execution is exemplary, this is a dynamic portrayal of difficult choreography.
Looks tired at 0.55... otherwise great performance...
lol, funny, he's not tired ! bizarre projection
buenisimo!!!!!!1
I love his work! He never got any where near enough recognition, in my opinion. I wonder why? His leaps are absolutely ethereal. I've had the joy of seeing him dance live with Makarova...he took my breath away.
All of the attention was on Baryshnikov......
@danbytheriver just STFU you don't know anything about ballet!!!!! plus i can bet a lot of money you don't even know how to dance like that so just don't type anything!
two people didn't like this?! are they high?!?!?
