Gamo Bone Collector Gen 3 .22 Caliber Break Barrel Air Rifle Review | Unboxing | Setup | First Shots
The snr has a 2.5 inch barrel not three
Had my gun for about two weeks now and the bottom screw in front of the safety fell out so I contacted Amazon for a reef fund or replace because the safety wasn’t working anymore they refunded me $60 out of 310
Other than that, though, I love my bone collector
Hey man, im stumped if i should get this one or pay 25 more bucks to get the Colt Peacemaker pellet revolver 🤔
After messing with this one for a bit I would probably get the peacemaker. I like it but I bout the Vigilante and enjoying it a bit more. I think maybe the longer barrel is a bit more accurate.
Ok 👌
It is fun though. But peacemakers are so cool, guarantee it’s fun too!
Any update on how this worked out? Ive been researching for my Gamo Bone Collector on how to attach a scope with the stop pin and correctly mount it. Im going to use thread locker and UTG air rifle mount as well as a Hammer Air rifle scope and use a Torq wrench.
Yeah it’s been about a year and the scope is solid. Hasn’t moved at all since I did this. If you watch the vid I made on the bone collector unboxing/setup/first shots, there is a segment where I install the scope as well. Hope everything goes smooth for ya!
You showed that snow. I’m sure it won’t be back.
Haha I’ll be ready if it decides to mess with me again!
When using 2 hands I like to use my left thumb to cock the hammer. That way I can keep the gun still when cocking the hammer and don’t have to realign my sight picture. It seems I can shoot more accurately while still firing fast. I like shooting it one handed the most though. The he gun just feels like it was made to shoot one handed.
Wow I would have never thought to do that but I can see how that makes perfect sense! Definitely going to be trying that out the next few days! Awesome tip thank you.
@@campfiregunpowder do you use the safety? I carry single actions for self defense sometimes because I shoot black powder revolvers as a hobby and just love the feel of the old colt or colt clone guns. Single Action is my favorite to shoot and black powder gives a lot of time to reload so I can be more social and talk to friends between shooting. However the rough rider is mostly my wear around the yard gun because I don’t like to open carry. Since the rough rider has a safety (I use it so I can carry 6 especially with a .22 I want the extra shot) I practice cocking the hammer with my right thumb while pulling it out of the holster then disengage the safety with my left thumb as soon as I get both hands on the revolver. After the first shot I use my left thumb to cock the hammer the remaining 5 times.
Dang black powder sounds like a lot of fun. That’s pretty cool! Yeah I do use the safety but I’m a little over the top sometimes as a am not as experienced with firearms as a lot of you guys on here. Didn’t really grow up with them around too much so I am still a bit cautious. I would like to have another round in the chamber though for sure, so I may try just trusting the safety like a lot of you guys.
@@campfiregunpowder I wouldn’t recommend black powder revolvers as a hobby these days. It has become very hard to find percussion caps and real black powder. They also pretty expensive to shoot. There will be people who cast their own lead balls and make their own powder and caps but I’m not that experienced. I was never into guns growing up either. Never went hunting or owned anything more than a BB gun. I got a 20ga shotgun for home defense but fell in love with shooting black powder when I went over to a friends house to shoot my shotgun and he pulled out an old 1851 colt clone. I bought the rough rider to replace my black powder revolvers since they are colt single action clones and so cheap to shoot.
@@campfiregunpowder just one more tip if you are carrying on an empty chamber instead of loading all six. In the empty cylinder put a snap cap or a spent casing. I have heard it’s bad to dry fire rim fire guns/rough riders so if you forget how many you shot and accidentally fire the six shot the hammer will fall on an the snap cap or empty casing instead of an empty chamber. The snap cap will work better because imo bc you can easily spot it and not eject the snapcap or you could always just leave one casing in and load 5 every time. Sorry about all the long comments I know those are annoying to read but have enjoyed the conversation.
I like the replacement grip choice. Looks a lot better than the original.
Definitely! So happy with these grips, look and feel.
Questions, I just got this combo. I put 10lb braided on it. It cast amazingly but feels like it's grinding while reeling in. It's loud and not smooth. Is yours like that too.
Mine does not feel like that no. It did feel a little slow at first but has seemed to cast a lot farther and smoother after a bit of use. But I’m running 15 lb. Monofilament so that may be the case with braid. I hope it works out for you and gets better. Maybe try some different braid or different test?
Good Job & Information Sir.
Thanks very much. Really appreciate that!
Nice video. If I close my eyes, it’s like Lex Fridman giving a gun review lol
Thanks very much! Haha! I watched one of his videos to see and I can totally hear it.
Very cool vid. You did a great job with this! I've got an arsenal, but I love these little Heritage Pistols. Saw some at a Gun Show 2 weeks ago, and now I have been checking them out. I'll be picking one up at my local gun shop in a week or 2. Heck - might grab 2 of them. Already been looking at fun accessories on Amazon - particularly some holster options, and some grip options. I think I want to put some Stag grips on one of them, to make it Old West style! Like your grips 2. Had a ton of fun watching this! Subbed.
Thanks so much. Happy you enjoyed the vid! Yeah these things are just too much fun and I love all the options for accessories too. The stag grips are really cool too! I carry this thing around with me on my property all day! Hope you have a blast with these when you grab one…or two!
For the love of God, stop decocking that poor revolver from half cock. I'll be amazed of this gun lasts. Hammer All the way back then down
Yeah just learned that about these single actions. Appreciate it!
I have the same baitcaster it’s awesome
Yeah I’m loving it! Thing feels and works great. My first Baitcaster too.
How does it feel reeling. Put 10lb braided on it and it's not Smooth. Kinda sounds like it's grinding
Have heard this from some other folks with braid as well. Mine seems pretty smooth but I’m running 15lb mono. It definitely got smoother after some use though.
Good review, nice grips.
Really appreciate it. Yeah, these grips made a big difference. They feel great too.
The only thing I don’t understand is. If you shouldn’t load all six and carry or store it. What was the point of putting 2 other safety’s on the gun? A single action is kind of a safety by itself. I understand the point of the cowboy carry is so if you drop it it won’t discharge but then also having a transfer bar safety and a hammer safety on a single action just seems like it will cause problems when you need to make a shot. If I was carrying for self defense at all I would remove the transfer bar safer but a 9 shot and only load 8.
I agree it’s a little overkill but I’m bush bashing on my property a lot and don’t want to worry at all. The thing that is always in the back of my mind is part failure. Been a mechanic most of my life and have seen a lot of parts fail. But I agree if I was carrying this for self defense I probably would do like you are saying. I have been in a situation here in my land where two feral dogs were rushing me and I was surprised how fast I got the safety off and gun cocked so it works in my particular situation. (Didn’t shoot them, just scared them off in a hurry!) But a lot of folks definitely don’t like the safety on these guns and I can see why in most situations. Appreciate the comment thanks for watching!
@@campfiregunpowder have you had problems with light strikes with yours?
Had a few when I first got the thing. Maybe 4-5. But haven’t had one for quite some time. You having some?
@@campfiregunpowder I have a barkeep model that I bought new last year. I can’t fire at my house because I live in a neighborhood so when I finally took it to the range and started having 2 of 6 rounds fail to discharge every time I reloaded the cylinder. I thought it was because I was shooting bulk cci clean ammo or that maybe the revolver was dirty. I always heard that rimfire ammo is unreliable so I didn’t really think much of it and was going to try different ammo but have come across a lot of videos on RUclips since then that talk about light strikes being common issue with rough riders and that you can use a wedge to tighten the main spring. Haven’t done that yet but wanted to try different ammo with a clean revolver before I start trying to mod it or send it in to be fixed. To be fair the mod couldn’t damage the gun because it’s just putting a cut piece of credit card between the spring and grip frame. I just want to rule out it wasn’t an ammo issue before trying anything else.
Yeah I have seen guys doing that as well. Seems to be a good option. But I’m with you, I personally would try a different ammo before I did that too. Dang that’s a bummer having that happen so much! Been having good luck with Winchester super suppressed.22 ammo. Hopefully a different ammo fixes the problem that sucks!
An eagle fight to the death. They ain't playin
The grips definitely needed a change. The finish on the plastic grips wears off after a few uses. If you are still shootin left, simply file the right side of the rear notch to correct the problem. You gotta get a leather holster though. Have fun with it.
Yeah what a difference grips make on these things! Yeah was thinking about filing the sights! Good idea! Definitely looking into a leather holster, nylon is doing ok but it’s not a perfect fit and gets a little annoying. Thanks!
Just about every review I watch for this gun says that their grip handles came in "worn." What I have noticed with mine, is, yes, it would appear that way, but if you handle it for a while, you realized that it's not, "worn," It is some sort of coating that protects the handle finish, and that you can either take off or let it wear off by itself. Mine is half worn off already, and the perfect glossy handle is underneath that which is rubbed off. Just an FYI.
Thanks! Is your handle wood? These plastic ones were pretty flimsy so I wanted to replace them anyway. But not really a downside since you can get so many different grip options straight from the factory and plenty of aftermarket ones too. Thanks!
Your eye relief
Scope mounting usually dovetail
Pin keeps the scope from shifting during recoil
Beautiful pellet rifle
Love it!
Can it shoo real bullet
No only pellets. Just a fun toy.
I just bought this gun a week ago. Its very accurate once sighted in. I purchased a Hawke vantage scope.
Nice! Know you are going to have so much fun with it. I was looking at those Hawks scopes as well. Look really good. Thanks for watching the vid!
Just bought one of these and you did an excellent job on your video review.... thank you and wish you the best. I bought mine for similar reasons as well... plus it is not expensive to shoot compared to noisy .22 rifles like old Marlin's I used to shoot a lot. This will be a replacement solution for that... beautiful phootography... have a great time with the rifle and appreciate this review, best one yet...for the introduction to the GAMO BONE COLLECTOR .22 rifle in my opinion.
Thanks a lot. I really appreciate that! It’s been about a year and it’s still in perfect shape and I’m still having a blast with it. Really helped my ground squirrel infestation as well. To the point where I can just leave them alone this year. Hope the bone collector treats you well too! Again thanks for the kind words and I’m stoked you enjoyed the video!
I bought the same sling to my maxxin hunter, thanks for sharing.
No problem thanks for watching! It’s been about a year since I got mine and it’s holding up really well.
👏👏👏👏👏👏
Thank you!
Nice grips. I have a 4 1/2" 22LR and 22 Mag Rough Rider and I love it. It's an absolute joy to shoot. I'm going to be looking for some nice grips for it even though the grips it came with are pretty nice.
Thank you! Right!? It’s so much fun. I’m still having a blast with mine. Yeah it’s nice there are so many grip options for these. Really changes it up.
Watch some Sassy Tallahassee videos to learn how to operate this gun.
Definitely will check it out thank you!
@@campfiregunpowder Extremally fun Your Welcome
pull the rod out a little and push it back in will unjam it
Yeah that’s what I figured and that seems to be working. Hasn’t happened since the video so I’m happy.
@@campfiregunpowder : )
I think you should have went with the Tony U Leather Holster.
Would definitely like a leather holster eventually. I was just trying to find something cheap.
@@campfiregunpowder I have two about $37ea. It is a Drop Holster so you can wear a regular belt. Very Much Old Western Style and Made to fit.
Ok that’s not bad at all thank you! Probably have to get one that sounds perfect.
John guns
Using the song "Blind" makes me think these probably aren't the greatest eye protective glasses...lol
Hahaha nice.
Well done on the video! I grew up with "cowboy" single action revolvers and just bought my first heritage a few weeks ago. I bought mine used for $115 but they also tossed in the .22 mag cylinder and a holster (The holster is a Desantis holster and was not meant for the Rough rider, but it fits my Taurus 856 revolver like a glove) If I would have waited, I could of bought a new one and got the free .22 mag cylinder for free! But the holster is $60 bucks, so it kinda worked out. Do you plan on upgrading the ejector rod/handle at all?
Thank you so much! Happy you enjoyed the video! Happy you grabbed a Rough Rider too. So much fun. I may have to grab another cylinder and try the mag option out. Yes I would like to upgrade as much as I can. Do they have options for upgrading the ejector rod on the Heritage website or is it an aftermarket option? Would really like to find a different cylinder pin as well.
Very informative and helpful video, keep m coming
Thank you very much! Really appreciate that.
Just a tip. It is best to get in the habit of bringing the hammer to full cock before lowering the hammer. Many Single Actions will be damaged over time if you skip this step.
Thanks very much. Always appreciate some knowledge! I had no idea. Definitely have a new habit now! Thank you
I'm a new gun owner and I made the decision to purchase the Rough Rider as my first firearm. I'm carrying for self-defense and prior to purchasing I did an enormous amount of research on this gun. This video gave me everything that I needed to know and even more in 18 minutes, more info than anything that I've spent hours reading or watching. I appreciate you man!
Wow that’s so cool to hear. I definitely try to be as thorough as I can even though it can make the video a bit long and boring for some. But I like to research things a lot before I get them as well and I’m really happy this one gave you some value. Heck yeah! This is a great gun for a first time owner. This was my first gun as well and couldn’t be happier with it. Hope you have a great experience with it. Thanks for the kind feedback.
It's a great first weapon and glad you took the step to protect yourself! Which version did you get?
@@Saintbow Thanks dude! I grabbed the 6.5 barrel, 4th of July Eagle grip. Came with a 22 Mag cylinder as well.
I just bought one new for $109 with the cocobolo wood grips, and they have a promo right now with the purchase you get a free 22 magnum cylinder
Nice! Those grips are really cool. Yeah it’s great they offer the different mags! Such a cool feature to be able to fire different ammo. Hope you have a great time with yours! Still absolutely in love with mine.
Alr cool I’m comming
We will save a seat for you on the boat!
"they had us in the first half, not gonna lie"

Please I'm so tired of y'all making these videos trying to sell these guns for gamo, just talked about the gun man and stop trying to sell the damn thing okay.
It’s funny, I’m not affiliated in any way with any company. The links I put up are not affiliate links. I don’t make any money from this and don’t care if people buy this because of the video. I got mine and I was excited so I made this video. I literally just was talking about the gun like you said.
@TONY TONY....Tony,Tony,Tony.... You know you have free will not to watch ... I'm sure you'd do the same with something you're amaze by and own.
Nice vid, felt the same when I got mine. Owned a couple but by far my favorite.
Nice! Thank you! Such a great gun.
hey does the snr357 have a plastic hammer?
Yes I think it is. Feels pretty sturdy though.
@@campfiregunpowdernot plastic. It is, however, cheap casted metal, as it’s a pellet gun and this function is more or less cosmetic.
The one that came from Sportsman's Guide yesterday had a broken mag retainer clip, the green part. Returning for a refund, if I get a new one the retainer clip might break eventually on that one too.
What a bummer! That sucks sorry to hear that. I got an extra one just in case but the original one has been holding up well for me so far.
Great video.I just bought a Rough Rider last week.I like the wooden grips you put on.
Thank you so much. Awesome you got one! Definitely going to have a blast with it! Yes those grips made a huge difference and they have a much better feel than the original ones.
What is a meaning of "beechwood stock THROUGH the plastic"? Is the stock made of beechwood or is it polymer (e.g. plastic)? Also. keep in mind that the breech of this gun (the mechanism that does the "braking" and locking of the barrel) is made of plastic (which is the weakest point of the complete SWARM lineup).
Beechwood stock through the plastic bag it came in.
I found this video extremely well done and enjoyable. Thank you for making this for all of us 😊
I really appreciate that! Thank you very much. Such a great gun and happy you enjoyed it.
Why dont you zero the rifle first? There is no scope and rifle that is correctly zerowed out of the box.
Absolutely I agree. But I was so excited I just wanted to shoot and see how it was out of the box. Which was not bad. Of course once I did zero it in it made a huge difference, especially at longer range! Also zeroing in was surprisingly very fun.
Low Volume!
Awesome review!!! Nice revolver, I decided to go and pick up one, specially if I will be able to use it with .22 WMR as well.
Thank you! That’s awesome! They are so fun, I’m sure you will like it. Let me know what kind you get! They also have a 9 round version.
@40AcreFrank Finally, it arrived today at my local store. It is the 6.5", 9 rounds with both cylinders. Did you clean or put some oil before you got it to the range the first time?
Awesome! I think that is the next on I will get too! I did not oil or clean anything before shooting. Not too sure if I should have but didn’t even think about that. I did just pick up a cleaning kit for it though and am planning on cleaning soon. Have around 100 rounds through it.
