If you had set it to scroll 1 at a time instead of 4, your CAD program wouldn't have been as jumpy. I was like holy shit that's a massive difference, but that's exactly why. Not saying that it wouldn't have still been jumpy, but it'd have been 1/4 as jumpy. Too bad though that setting it to 1 line at a time is too slow unless you use free spin mode. I use Logitech Options which fakes/animates smooth scrolling system wide. Not the same as "precise" scrolling, but it works quite well.

Any rubber coating will come off over time. Only way to avoid this is solid PBT material.

this was so helpful! the scrolling on the surface is amazing, i was looking forward to replace my 3rd logitech mouse because of double clicking issues and i couldnt really find sometthing that would fit my needs as a graphic designer and a casual gamer, and this surface precision mouse just ticks all the boxes. I'm never getting a logitech mouse again. The adaptative free scrolling is the only cool feature, but as you showcased the smooth scrolling is broken in the MX Master. There's also the problem of the thumb wheel, it doesn't work in many apps and I'm forced to use the forward button as shift so i can horizontal scroll with the mouse wheel. Once my mouse wears out I think I'll go with microsoft.

There are 3 issues with your review. The first is pretty severe, the two aren't. 1> Scroll Wheel. You are using the scroll wheel wrong on the Logitech MX Master 3. The button behind the scroll wheel toggles the scroll wheel between smooth and click modes. Just click it and you'll see its incredibly smooth. This is concerning because you are supposed to know about this before doing a review. This was a feature since the original Logitech MX Master mouse from over 10 years ago. 2> Build Quality. The build quality of the Microsoft mouse is exactly what you paid for. The mouse is 66% cheaper. And for that price, you can't go wrong. Or can you? The Logitech mouse build quality is second to none. I've had the Logitech mouse since its first edition circa 2009. I used it until 2016 without fail. I purchased the MX 2 in 2016 and used it until 2021 (handing it down to a loved one). I purchased the MX 3 in 2021 and have been using it without fail ever since. Nothing has been worn in/down. It still operates and looks brand new. 3> Ergonomics. The Microsoft mouse has the same ergonomics as its greatest predecessor, the Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical Gaming Mouse. I owned this mouse and can say without a doubt it was the best mouse Microsoft ever made until the Surface Mouse. It's so successful the only thing they changed about the design was the placement area for the thumb and the area around the scroll wheel. This mouse is very good and great for a Microsoft mouse. But its ergonomics do not compare with the Logitech mouse. My original mouse was the IntelliMouse until circa 2007 when I gave that mouse to another loved one. After years of looking for the right mouse, I moved to the Logitech mouse around 2009. 4> Professional Use. I work in the entertainment industry. The last 4 companies I worked with, all transitioned to the Logitech MX Master series. The people using these mice create 2D/3D graphics, working no less than 8 hours a day. 90% work more. My common day was 14 hours a day. My hand rests perfectly on the Logitech. The Logitech is 3x more expensive at around $99 USD. Whereas the Microsoft Surface mouse is currently selling for around $30 USD. If it does break down after a year... how many years can it hold off until you have to replace it? That's the real question. I got 8 years out of my first MX Master. I gave it away and it still works... so it's going on 14 years without fail. Can the Microsoft Mouse do the same?

I got pro5 wirh m3 4gb ram, installed windows 11 turn off all background process, put it in maximum performance mode, and also windows features in performance mode and use it with edge and navigation is instantaneus, also open apps like word or Excel is super fast

What a great video comparison. I bought the mx master 3 last week and sent it back as it wasn't at all suitable for my Autocad use due to the pressure required to activate the wheel button. I found zooming in and out with it a bit hit and miss too. I will buy the surface precision mouse today! Many thanks.

Most important thing no one cares about, When you open your camera, with this update can you still be able to change the definitions of the quality of the camera? Like 4k at 30fps or FHD with 60fps.
