I was an antique restorer in long melford when this was filmed Met all the cast I knew the bloke who love joy was based on also . They used his shop for filming they were almost identical to look at . Ian stayed at the bull hotel in melford . Good ol days

Good Lord, this is some phenomenal detective work. Hats off to you. Totally agree, in on the buses, because you’ve got so many other cast members you’re getting a funny line throughout the entire episode. Here, he is kind of flying solo but of course with two fine support actors. I certainly liked it and I laughed, that’s good British comedy. People may like to know that this wasn’t just a standard midweek programme ,this aired on a prime time Saturday evening. Cheers!

Dick Emery one of the best ever..

The type of B&B landlady who advertised hot and cold running water and charged for salt and pepper cruet use into the 90s. Not to forget stressing colour TV well after 90% of people had their own colour TVs at home and probably more than one.

Actually a very talented man. Personally I’ve always believed he deserved better than to be remembered for the series.
