The first batch file was born back in time, long, long, long ago in the stone age of MS DOS from a golden dinosaurus egg. These early beast of first batch files can’t use functions, but it can call another dinosaurus to help catching the most delicous fruits.

I prefer to use monochrome pictures to make Pixel Art and Pixel Art animations for the text screen with batch files, because ASCII ART is not very pixel precise. But i don’t know how to do it for the Windows command prompt. I use the DosBox emulator to put the Pixel Art inside a block of some extended ASCII character font. The size of the monochrome pictures are limited to 112x112 pixel to fit inside a block of 14x7=98 character with a character size of 8x16 on a 80x25 text screen. I made a video to show how it works and to share the DOS batch files. Have fun.😊

CMD on Windows run in the protected mode of the CPU and this prevent the user to access the hardware components directly. If we try this we get a message of a protection violation.

I like to make batch files for DOS/DosBox only, because in DOS it is allowed to access the hardware components directly. Example to write directly into the screen memory for text screen and the graphic screen.

But ASCII ART is not a very pixel precise presentation of a picture and so i made my own Picture to character converter for DOS/DosBox only and i put all instructions into batch files to display a picture pixel precise inside a block of some ASCII character using a function of the graphic BIOS to change the character font. I do not know how to program this for Windows CMD. Maybe it is possible to access the font with Power Script to put a picture inside. I have no Windows.
