Same here! The black wire melted near connector and the white one barely hanging. The connectors were installed pointing to each other, I wonder if that created an arc over time. Thanks a bunch (of wires) !!!
Thanks for sharing the fix, you've got another saved oven here. Same exact burnt out wire. Cut out the crispy bits, replaced the terminal, and back in business in no time!
The exact same issue you encountered. Lead to relay burnt off. Relay kind of melted, but utilizing the same diagnostic methods unit works completely fine. Thank!
I watched your video and thought no way! Then read all the comments and still didn’t think it’d be the same issue. It was that same exact black wire. Thanks man!
Thanks a lot!!! All of the videos/troubleshooting steps I found were all for LG gas ovens. Yours was the only one I found that was for electric models. Mine had the same issue with a burnt/broken wire, but mine was the red wire. Now I'm looking into finding a replacement terminal connector, butt connector, and some wire to fix this.
Well thanks jake, I did the same as you do first, i checked all components on it and it all just fine, now I'm so excited to back home to check the wires, I'm sure I'll found out one of them has burned out
Thank you for sharing your info. Yes, our black wire on the LG electric stove was burnt off. Unfortunately it wasn't all that went wrong but your info definitely helped.
Thank you for your story. I was about to go buy a new oven because of the issues I've had with this LG product. I took it apart at the back and found the same issue of a burned black wire on one of the relays. i replaced the female connector hooked everything back and the oven works again. I know it saved me the hassle of scheduling a repair person and lost time from work or worse the price of a new oven. 🥸
I had the same issue, the grey wire was burnt and not making contact with the relay. I stripped the wire reattached it and Bingo Bango it's working! Thank you so much! You're the BomB!
Hey Jake, add me to the list of people you've helped with this repair. Thank you very much sir! I noticed a couple comments from people having to do this repair more than once....wondering if there's a best way to do this repair so it only has to be done once....or is it a design problem...too much current thru a terminal that's too light??
Thank you! I was about to give up and junk the oven and then I found your video. I checked and tested everything, thermostat, heating element, temperature sensor etc. but it was that pesky black wire. It was melted and broke. I fixed it and works great again. Thanks man.
You just save me. Thumbs up. Terminal $6.99 at lowes. It had a burnt spot on it. I cut wires. Slid it in New yellow terminal and the oven worked. Thank you
Thanks bro! This video help me out and saved me a 115 dollars service call...I have the same oven and checked everything before looking at your video and was on the way to calling a technician, I had the same exact problem you had, repaired it in 10 minutes and now my oven is back heating like normal. Thanks again big big help!
I have had this fixed twice, once under warranty about 9 months after purchase. Then again 2 years later and now again one year later. Going try fixing myself this time. Thank you.
Seems that the F09 is definitely a check for damaged wires indicator. We had a technician come out when we encountered this and both of the wires connecting to the Broiler element had shorted. Trimmed the damaged ends and reconnected to fix.
Same issue on my lg electric stove, same crispy black wire, fixed by cutting/stripping/re-crimping. Has anyone seen the issue reoccur after “fixing” the roasted black wire?
Same thing happened on my LG. Same code, same fried relay, same black wire at the contact with the relay. It burned all the way through the contact and about and inch of insulation on the black wire. It also burned through a same gauge yellow wire above it. To repair without worries would require a new relay control board and a few new wires with the proper connectors. I bet only thing available is the entire wiring harness. The black wire is the main power...traces back to the post where the power cord connects. I found continuity was fine on all of the oven elements, the thermostat, and the temperature sensor. This problem is only with the main power coming in to the relay. No damage to the backside of the board where the relay is soldered in. This problem is very localized around the contact for the black hot wire (same as yours). I'm surprised your relay still worked after cleaning everything up. If I fix this myself there will be no warranty and the new parts are likely the same as the old ones so that starts to smell like throwing good money after bad. Cheap design, cheap parts....my parents used to keep appliances going for 15-20 years. Now everything is designed to be disposable....problem is it means I won't be buying an LG again. Good job LG (and every other manufacturer cuz you're all the same). End of rant.
@@Vulturelife Hey I had a similar problem on my electric LG range. The issue with mine was the red wire was cooked to the point it broke off the pin. The pin was still in the relay on mine. In my case the stove top worked fine, it was just the bake/broil that didn't. I also got the F9 error code.
Spot on!!! This video was perfect for me since I have little patience and was struggling to sift thru the videos that either ended up being for a gas oven or something to do with the stove top. That said, I skipped all the troubleshooting steps and went straight to the black wire which was obviously the issue; mine was cracked clear thru and sticking straight off to the side. This has to be a known issue for LG since none of the other wires were even close to the same condition and the connection was firmly in place. While the other wires were stiff to the touch - expected as its a pretty heavy wire and insulated fairly well - none of them flaked apart between my fingers. The black wire came apart like a Saltine cracker. For reference, my oven is 7 or 8 years old and I have only self cleaned it 2 or 3 times. I say that because I did find a few online comments about thermostats melting after using the self-clean function and the door lock not releasing. Anyway, you saved me a ton of time, frustration, and money. Since I was not likely to consider repairing an 8 year old range you may have saved me $1,500; at least for a while. Thanks again!! Also, thanks to the rest of you who commented because at first glance it sounded like a one-off issue but reading thru the comments it became clear that this was not uncommon.
Glad to help ! Alot of the videos I found were for gas stoves also ! It was brutal ! Everytime I clicked a video it was for gas ,I made sure to put electric range in the title ! Was thinking about doing a voice over on the video ! Sorry for the rambling lol this was my first RUclips video!
Thank you so much for this! We had ordered a lower bake element for our oven thinking that was the problem but cancelled the order after watching this. It was the exact same problem as you showed here and was a super easy fix. Saved us $100 right before Christmas. Thanks so much! 🙏👍😊
Hell yeah doggie. Nice fix. On my oven, only the top element is not working. Was that your symptom as well? I can get it up to like 350 but I cant use broil and it takes forever to heat. Any thoughts? Nice vid. thanks.
Dude, thanks again. I had a similar deal with the connector to the element. Cleaned them up, reclamped, soldier, hooked up and back to full function. Best!
Same here! The black wire melted near connector and the white one barely hanging. The connectors were installed pointing to each other, I wonder if that created an arc over time. Thanks a bunch (of wires) !!!
This helped enormously. That's exactly what happened to mine, except it was the white one.

Ok
You're a life saver, the video is great and saved me a huge head ache and a trip charge plus minimum of 160 an hour for a repair guy.
Thanks it was actually what the problem was.
Had same issue. Reconnected. Happened again. The factory connectors are garbage. Put new connectors on and haven’t had a problem since.

Thx for video you help me this was the issue for my lg
Thank you.
Absolutely magic. The same cable. Thank you so much for sharing. All this advances technology failed because of a simple cable.....
Thanks 🙏 brother

Unfortunately, my case was little bit different, the relay was burned out, but thanks cus your case may face me in the future ❤
100% correct !! $3.10 cent fix only needed one crimp clip Thank you sir for your post!! Cheers
Thank you! Just fixed my oven with the same issue
This happened to my stove also - I found a loose ground wire at the bottom - may be the issue?

Thank you brother ! I had the same code and found your video also found the same Burt wire . I made an new connection and she’s good to go thanks
Did anybody havecto buy a new quick disconnect terminal and crimp the wire to it?? if so where did u buy it from?
or did u just cut the wire and strip it and crimp it back on
I just cut the wire and reused the crimp ,if yoy d9 buy a new connector make sure its rated for heat because some are not rated for heat

Thanks that worked , but it was the white wire was burnt off and what cheap medal that's made of.
Oh shit ! Man I should reach out to the manufacturer and see what they say! This could be dangerous!
it's my white wire too
