Yeah, it's just been so raved about so much that its lost some of its its wow factor and led me to have really high expectations going into it. They definitely up'd their game on "smoking hot" which I quite like, hopefully the brand continues to impress!

Love the description, hit it on the bulls eye haha. I plan to refine my channel over time that brings that aesthetic to life even more! In a time where everyone just yells at a camera saying "its the best thing of all time" 99% of the time, there needs to be someone who brings the opposite, critiques and gives praise only when necessary. @@FragranceFiend Would LOVE that, I can see a brand coming together. If you had an Instagram, it could show preview trailers with the opening similar to the TV static in The Ring . Or when you showcase a perfume unboxing, the title image is you holding a perfume box like how Pinhead holds the Lament Configuration. Yes, I love critiques, too many subjective perfume reviews are either "I love this perfume more than my own human child" or "I hate this perfume more than Satan". Logical balanced reviews while still allowing room for nuanced subjectivity is wonderful especially when reviewing perfumery as an intentional design product. Hopefully we see more content in the future on different platforms!

The domains of the name fragrance fiend were taken by someone else a few months after I created my youtube channel and they've kinda blown up with 500k views (compared to my 70k) so I seem like the imposter in comparison haha. I'll maybe expand one day but I think I'll stick to youtube for the time being. 😄

They’ve definitely been blowing up tons recently, + targeting a younger demographic with higher quality fragrances is always admirable. They also just announced 10ml sizes after I filmed the video so i think that’ll make it more accessible for people too! 😊

Good question! One which kinda stumps me unfortunately since this is actually a super simple scent but at the same time nothing really comes that 1:1 close to it. There are some scents that have a similar DNA but they just don’t have the same sense of quality in the construction of the fragrance itself, or substitute for cheaper ingredients. I’ll let you know if I think of any though!

The reason I asked it is because you give great explanations/reviews on why you like/don't like it. but when an alternative is not suggested, as an audience, it leaves us out in the open, where we don't know what value to gain from the video. If you give alternative, with a CTA like "watch my other video where I give you a better alternative instead" or simply state the products you would buy instead for perfumes falling in the same category

Definitely worth getting your nose in it, love the scent despite the performance :)

Amouage interlude is deffs a beast, I’ve always gotten insane performance from it! I also recommend oud satin mood for something a little more sweeter, projection is insane but if you like your oud fragrances Oud Maracuja by Maison Crivelli or Luxor by Xerjoff are intense. Maracuja is a little fruitier & dark whereas Luxor is quite animalic and “dirty”. Also musc ravageur by Frederic Malle for something with a bit of extra spice and lastly give Royal Tobacco by amouage a shot for more of a Smokey scent that drys down pretty woody! C woody leather by Clive Christian is another go to. Monseur by Frederic Malle is also super dark, rummy/boozy and will not leave your skin without an exfoliating fight!

It's familiar, nostalgic, but also taints fragrances making them smell cheap when reminded of the thought, i think i may have said the same thing about "Queen of silk" (unless I cut that out). There must be some aroma molecule used in playdough that's also common in perfumery. Lot of toys that i remember from growing up used to bring a level of serotonin just by the scent alone. Especially the smell from a fresh pack of Yu-Gi-Oh cards.

Unfortunately I need to locate the files since it was the last video I filmed prior to switching to my new system 🥲. I do own a few dupes and as usual I’m brutally honest and wouldn’t want to shatter the illusion of some people believing they smell identical hahah, but I think really breaking some down they become day and night, especially with brands like lataffa and Armaf! But I may consider venturing into dupes in the future as I have bought a few from Zara too but never posted them. 😊

I sampled Mumbai Noise briefly in Mecca and I think I really liked it but then got confused whether it was that I was smelling or not cos I tried on so many others - I got in a bit of scent tangle!! 🤣 I’ll keep a look out for your vid on Bal dafrique. 🙌🏾 The dupes thing is interesting as it’s being ‘sold’ to be very similar or close to the original but cheaper, but if it it smells different on the skin then that’s also good to know. Typically all the niche perfumes I like or that work well on my skin (which is not that many) cost hundreds of $$$ especially here in Oz!!! I wish Australia provided more perfume samples in store so we can to try them out - most places I go to don’t even stock any!! See you back online soon! 🤗

Deffs some okay cheapies out there but not many. 😅 Some work really well on the right people but once they’re dissected / analysed you begin to notice where they really fall short. My fav may still be Authentic Night by Abercrombie!

@@FragranceFiend I have Daarej, for example, it's cheaper, but better smell, I mean there is some cheap and good fragrances out there, but honestly, I'm fed up buying those, I prefer to sample niches , even 300$ samples, instead of blind buying these cheap fragrances.

Exactly! Most people (general public) consider spending that much on fragrance a waste of money yet they’re the same ones waste money on fragrances that smell like cheap alcohol!

Yeah, not my style of perfumery but they do often nail what they're trying to accomplish (other than "under the stars"). I just cant imagine smelling like a tomato.

Agreed, I feel a lot of designer brands fail to innovate at times and play it too safe. My expectations are low even with the recent successes of the company. Not sure how they can build on this DNA any further.

Hahah thank you, bought it thinking id wear it frequently but i only pull it out for JPG reviews now! 😆 Their adverts have always been so impressive, especially in the days of "in the navy" i believe and "scandal". The elixir ad was a little stripped back but nothing beats the Le Male ad sailing through the streets. Iconic!

Thanks heaps, looking forward to seeing where the line goes, every time i feel they've had their biggest hit, they surprise us with more! I feel a lot of other major league designers have fallen off in previous years but JPG really catches or creates trends while everyone else seems to fall behind!
