I noticed in the video that you talked about staying away from sticky cameras but that can be easily solved...I just fixed a Vivitar mechanical dedicated m42 mount camera and an original Canon Elan. Both were very sticky and i watched some RUclips videos and they used alcohol to clean them but that was not working very well so I got a couple of paper towels and moistened then and then put a little Dawn platinum plus powerwash dish spray on them and basically you gently rub it until black does not come off on the paper towels. The skins are made of a petroleum product and basically your just rubbing off the residue. Both of these cameras..one from the 70's like new now. If you have a sticky one...give it a shot..

How come an estate sale camera came without a lens? That part seemed odd to me. Cool camera, so I hope finding a good lens doesn't turn into a problem for you.

Great video! I am 30 and have been going through my grandparents pictures. They grew up during the great depression and were married in 1944 and they had tons of photos, not to mention they inherited all of the ones that their parents and grandparents had. The pictures I have found range from the old tintype photos from the 1800's to the 2000's. My grandmother had over 60 albums stacked in her closet shelfs, boxes under the beds filled with photos, drawers filled with photos and I think there were even some photos in their storage building (which was packed to the ceiling). Hopefully you have some family members that can help you identify those pictures. I have the same problem with some of the older ones. We don't know who they are and there is no one to ask. I have been doing genealogy for the past several years and have found cousins (their grandparents were great grandparent's siblings) and they have been able to help identify some. Old family photos bring back memories!

If you converted your image to black and white in photoshop then inverted the colors so that it looked like a film negative, would the cyanotype then be more like a traditional photograph and not a negative of that?

You possess a family treasure! Thank You so much for sharing. I have boxes of family photos & you've inspired me to get busy & get them organized. Fortunately, my Mom was very good at writing on the back to identify the people & date it was taken. Just wish more were in the folios as yours are, but most of our family took random snapshots rather than posed, studio portraits! Your Mom's Senior Picture is priceless. She is such a beautiful woman!!

Do you feel film is better than digital when it comes to photography?

It was hot here in Central Florida too, and on top of that, we had to prepare for Hurricane Milton. I only had one day to spare, so I just shot around my town. I purchased two Holga cameras, a 120 and a 35mm, and I just received my scans from the lab. I love the shots from the 120, but I'm not a fan of the 35mm. This was my first time shooting with Holga cameras. The 120 had lots of light leaks, but I really like them. The winder in the 120 camera got stuck after the 14th photo, and I had to open the camera in a darkroom bag to unwind and roll the film. I thought I was going to lose the photos, but luckily, I didn’t.

How do you get back the counter to zero after few blank shots? thanks

great that you had nice weather for the shoot!! we had good weather too and I ended up shooting a few rolls at a local harvest festival :)

The cameras I get the most use out of are my Canon EOS Rebel film cameras - Not trendy, but super capable and affordable.

All good cameras. However. Nikon only takes dedicated Nikon lenses. You cannot use non nikon lenses on Nikon cameras. You can however use manual and auto Nikon lenses on the N60. I have an N60 . On the AE1 Canon you can use non Nikon manual lenses. I have Vivitar lenses on all my Canon ae1 programs. The point and shoots are good as well. So I suggest. An auto film slr. A manual film slr and a film PandS.
