sorry I appreciate the vid but this isn't really a very good overview - installing homebrew is easy - but now what? my homebrew is empty and nothing I do can get my wii to recognize or download any programs on it. i have watched 10 videos just like yours and they always end - here you go ! homebrew!

I think from the specs of switch 2, i think it could run gamecube and wii i mean even tho there are remasters not everything will be remastered like i would love to go back and play games like mario kart wii and wii sports i think they cant do it on switch 1 but switch 2 has a good chance

Luckily for me I have a Wii with gamecube backwards compatibility and I have almost all of the Wii games I wanted, Gamecube will be hard but at least I have my Wii games and my other retro gaming systems with games!

it should have been obvious to everyone they aren't doing GCN and Wii online for switch especially with all the remasters now for switch 2 i definitely see them doing GCN online for maybe for a 3rd plan like a premium pass also see 3DS and DS online being on switch 2 but wii online that aint happening for a long time not even for switch 2 honestly

The only way I would see a work around is if the switch 2 had a combined menu that is already there without need for a download where you download each game individually as long as you have an NSO subscription, like Ps Plus & Xbox Game Pass. The retro games would be on the home menu with your other games I don’t see Mario Kart Double Dash getting the remaster treatment so that’s the way I think they can handle games they don’t plan on remastering

I really don’t think we need it, because we can just hack our Wii or Wii U to play NGC or Wii games on there! Boom! Problem solved!

A couple excellent points I forgot to include: The likely scenario with the switch successor is that more ports will be released. Some people are saying SM64 was being sold yet was in the online service. This is a rare exception, and 3d Allstars was a limited edition software. It isn't the same. GameCube games to the NSO would require huge amount of storage to the internet connection which it wouldn’t work. N64 games were barely fit in to the NSO online servers.

With the way their selling them as standalone products, It would be much easier to just port,remaster or remake them and sell them for full price.

Switch 2 online?

tbh I don't mind about NSO virtual consoles especially about GameCube and Wii. I have my old Wii and It can play both of GameCube and Wii STILL. I rather want them to make a remake like paper mario TTYD. I guess they chose to remake TTYD instead of paper mario 64 because paper mario 64 is on NSO. (same goes to Mario RPG. I'm glad that they made remake of Mario RPG) like... don't port Chibi Robo, Wario World, Pokemon Colosseum LOL. because I want remake of them so bad.

I mean why charge $50 a year when people are paying $60 a pop for ports of games from this generation? I get it I too am part of the problem. I need to just say no. 😅

I think GameCube and Wii games just age too good to be considered old. They are basically like Switch games with less resolution, worse textures, etc. While N64 games and below, clearly look old and could not be re-released so easily. GameCube and Wii games just need new textures and are basically like modern games. The technological advancements aren't that huge anymore.

I think that the switch 2 will likely be backwards compatible with switch games, if it's form factor is similar to switch, and I think that we will see more ports, remakes, and bundles of gamecube and wii games once the switch 2 comes out. MySims has a bundle coming out in November already, so I doubt game size is a problem, especially since most of the modern offline switch games are several gigabytes. Unfortunately I doubt they will ever have a switch online thing for gamecube and wii games like they do for older consoles, but thay is mostly becuase Nintendo knows the value of their gamecube and wii games, and they would rather sell them individually as the prices we have seen from existing titles from those consoles prove thay they will make more money that way.

Looking at the first issue with there already being ports on Switch, I'd like to issue a rebuttal to the argument. Firstly, the Gamecube and Wii are highly requested and Nintendo surely has taken note of this demand. Secondly addressing that point of yours, Mario 64 is on the online service and included in the 3D collection. Also the 3D collection is getting harder to find at a reasonable price and its been removed from the online store for some time. Anyone who wants to play Mario Sunshine & Galaxy that didn't get the collection will have to buy an overpriced physical copy. If they put Mario 64 in the online playlist, they can put these games on it too. As for Paper Mario Thousand Year Door and Kirby's Return to Dreamland, these games can be delayed from the service. They could add them after a year or two after their respective consoles are represented on the Online Service via drip feed. Nintendo doesn't give us all the games at once and by delaying these games it supports their Switch release a bit longer before becoming available on the service. Assuming this online service continues onto the next platform, these consoles are likely to join the retro collection as Switch 2 exclusive releases.

Hello! So you may remember me from wii shop channel remake (or the other commen lol) and i got it to work that i can play some of the wad-file-games from the wii shop website. But when i try to play sonic the hedghog, the screen is just black. I already tried pressing Z+2+A with the nunchuk, but that doesnt work. Can you maybe help me please?

it's always about the 1st party games that nintendo players keeps talking about...where are all the 2nd & 3rd party games at nintendo??? eternal darkness, amazing islands, MGS twin snakes, sin & punishment, pandora's tower, lost in shadows, fatal frame, silent hill, persona Q, devils third, tokyo mirage session #FE, splinter cell, trama team, cursed mountain, dragon quest swords, battalion wars, custom robo, geist, GOTCHA FORCE, odama, last story, p.n.03, lost kingdom, 1080 avalanche, inazuma eleven strikers, rhythm heaven fever, bleach shatter blade, sengoku basara samurai heros, muramasa the demon blade, shiren the wonderer, castle vania judgement, red steal, project zero, monster hunter 3, rygar the battle of argus, and sooooo many more. i hope the devs port all these non-nintendo made games that are stuck on nintendo to PS4 & PS5 someday soon because nintendo & most of all nintendo players don't care nothing about them at all. that goes for astral chain & daemon x machina as well because those games didn't sell good at all on the switch which they barely sold 1 million. also there is still no call of duty or battlefield on switch is just why nintendo? just why??? even the Wii & Wii U had Call of Duty & very few other shoot em up rated M games like come on now.
