This is why I chuckle when I hear people say that Colt is mid-tier and not as good as other brands. These are the details that makes a Colt a Colt. I just wish they would be more consistent with markings and start making 6720’s again and make barrels with a modern barrel profile.

As of Jan 2025 2unique has the barreling spud available for purchase. When they sell out it’s always a question if they will make more and so far it seems to be made in a few runs throughout the year. Highly recommended with only 3 flaws: Price (currently at $175 + shipping), not scalloped to allow closure of ejection port cover (in case you want to use a clamshell) and only 2 sides of flats for vice. I have it and the URR and they both work great, can’t go wrong with either one. I also have “The Device” which turned out to be an expensive paper weight. Stick to something that locks into the barrel extension.

How did you remove the pin, and can it be replaced at home? I just broke a barrel extension pin, while trying to remove a delta ring, barrel nut. The nut was on so tight, I ended up using a large pipe wrench to force it off. And in doing so the extension pin sheered off! The upper was fine, but now the barrel has now extension pin to align it back up!

Informative video. I was struggling with trying to time my FH without my barrel spinning between the wood I had it clamped in. Now I realize that if it’s spinning, I’m probably torquing it too much. Still doesn’t solve the horrible timing issue though

Try the Derraco Engineering comparitor set. I like that set way better than my Hornady set. I could never get the things to attach to my calipers with no air gap until I bought the Derraco set and their base. I was also really impressed when I put a shoulder comparitor on for the first time and went to zero, the caliper measured exactly 2.0000

How is the fitment if the 3/8 tub3 inside the 1/2 tube? From my math, the ID of the outer tube is 0.384 and the OD of the inner tube is 0.375.

Only way to really know is a CMM I can also attest that most of my barrels didn’t pass with forester gauges but would pass with ptg I guess people should ask what gauges and reamers ar manufacturers use before buying now lol

Did you fix it with the install? Or, did you just replace the pin? I'm getting the ping (functions, I just don't want the ping). With the reaction rod I could remove the pin, install the barrel and be squared away, you think? Thanks.

Good demonstration. I think this is particularly useful on a AR10 build. They are less than standardized! Even in components that are listed as compatible, your MUST check clearances. For instance the Vlotor A5 buffer tube is listed as compatible with the Armalite 3.25" buffer. Those buffer tubes spec out at 7 3/4". Now the original Armalite is listed at 7 5/8" I tried using the Vlotor and the BCG was striking the back of the lower receiver and buffer tube. With the Armalite 7 5/8" buffer I had proper clearance. I check mine the same way you do...with the spring on.

Where did you get your oversized/longer taper pins? I see that there are some on eBay and Amazon but they’re just carbon steel. Does it even matter if these pins are hardened since I don’t see gun companies selling hardened oversized pins?

Can you do more frequent updates for your cancer labs and health changes while you are doing this regimen? Also, maybe post some other place this same info in case it magically 'disappears' some day, as most people by now realize how the greedy corporations that rule, 'we the people', seem to have far reaching controls onto the mass population against majority wants!
