I do not support the killing of innocent people. However, when it comes to politics, no politician is truly innocent. The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has suffered greatly due to its alliance with the FDLR, a group responsible for atrocities in Rwanda, which later brought the same violence and destruction to Congo. This tragic cycle of violence has deep historical roots, and it seems that a curse has loomed over the country since Mobutu’s era. Today, many young Congolese have embraced the Wazalendo ideology without fully understanding its implications. Wazalendo are young nationalists, much like the Interahamwe militia in Rwanda or the young Nazis in Germany. They are driven by ultranationalist beliefs and are indoctrinated to see anyone who does not align with their ideology as an enemy-someone to be eliminated. This dangerous mindset fuels endless cycles of violence and division. As we speak, the DRC is plunging deeper into chaos, and if the educated Congolese do not take a step back to critically assess where the country is heading, we risk an even darker future. The Bible warns us against aligning with those who shed innocent blood. Proverbs 1:10-16 clearly instructs us not to associate with those who plot violence. It is time for the people of Congo, especially its intellectuals and leaders, to reflect and make decisions that lead toward peace, stability, and true national unity-not blind destruction.
