Public health in the firing line, where it belongs
In this public lecture, Prof Emily Banks outlined what public health is, why it matters, how epidemiology plays a central role and why being in the firing line is a marker of success. About the speaker:

How do I preserve the sample cuz once it's pulled out it dies almost right away

Well I'm in Massachusetts in America and I have it I'm pretty sure that's what I have the doctors are in denial they're telling me I'm seeing things even though I pulled a couple out of my skin right in front of them even out of my lip I'm just horrified that these doctors don't care and they're not diagnosing me and they're not sending anything to the lab they're not doing anything but then I picked out some worms and put them under a microscope with the doctor and his Microsoft was so terrible

I gave my primary doctor these worms that I pulled out of my skin and she said they were all epithelial cells I said no they're not just like white things all over the cells that I pulled out of course because they're attached

How the hell can one parasite start the infection all over again they have to bleed don't they with another one? Do gnats and bugs contribute to that like a mosquito bite or a fly bite

If these worms die when you pull them out then how can they be infecting you it once they are pulled out of you they're dead how can you get refracted by these worms or the disease if they're dead if they're not on you

I really need help I'm really hurting with all these little ones I'm picking out and they're getting bigger and I'm starting to see tracks on a few tracks and I have like purplish on my skin and they make these white crusty things on your skin and then I feel like everything's biting my head I've had blurred vision and I've been really tired and I feel like my bed is not safe now and I've been changing my sheets every so often and I sleep with my dog and I'm thinking oh my God she's been choking from a year and we thought it was from her tracheal. I even brought her to the vet and he said the same thing so now I'm thinking it's got to be it's got to be this cuz I thought it was fly larvae at first then I thought maybe it's pinworm but it was it was never in my private area I have them all over and they're not grouped together sometimes I see little brother holes and I'll grab tweezers and I'll pull like three of them out of one breather hole. As they gotten bigger they move a lot quicker when I'm trying to get them it's so hard and it's painful to pull them out. Medicare says it's $3,000 for a little bottle of the cream for a little tube and I've taken the oral Ivermectin in January one dose and then they gave me a dose almost 3 months ago and I'm due for another dose in a week which is what you're saying I'm supposed to be taking it every day they don't even want to prescribe it they're telling me it's all in my head and you know I'm just really suffering and it's not in my head.

I've also had a terrible pain in my back it's really really bad it's just it's like from my left to my right like around my waist area and now I'm having cramps and diarrhea and I found these things getting your finger in the bed your fingernail beds and your toenails I pulled one out of my lips and my nose and I don't know what I'm going to do because I can't get a doctor to help me

It used to be all over my body and I put several filters on my Waters my shower in it on my sinks and I just ran out of filters so I got to get more and I've been without them and it's coming back really bad all over my skin and I've I've had clear long worms coming out of my urine into the toilet and I saw a whirlpool in the toilet and I took a camera and put it at 10 times zoom and then I saw a bunch of worms they were like clear and but they're little white tiny little white worms in my skin you're getting bigger now and harder to pull out and I don't know what to do they're causing crusting on my skin as well

I've been to 12 doctors and I finally found a walk-in clinic that gave me one dose of ivermectin and then I went to a dermatologist to try to keep it up cuz it was a walk-in clinic and I couldn't get an appointment with that girl again and he I talked him into it and he said it was all in my head that I didn't have anything I even pulled the worm out of my lip right in front of him and out of my arm it's really bad now I probably had it for a long time I know I've had the worms and larvae for a couple of years. I sleep with my dog and I also bought soil cuz I was growing so it could have been in some soil that I bought because it was special soil. I don't know what to do they're all telling me it's all in my head and I'm just getting worse and worse everyday I can't stand it they're in my nose and everything about this is getting blurry and I can't get any help😢😢😢😢😢

Have you found a Dr that is willing to help? We have been suffering from this since May and are being denied care due to disbelief as well. I have been collecting what ever specimen I can in a small jar with distilled water. I am trying to get an appt at USF with a Dr who specializes in Strongyloides stercoralis. Hardest part is finding a Dr(who believes you) to write referral. Living in a nightmare everyday, so I understand exactly the hell you're going through.
