As someone who was staff at RHDN and saw the nonsense that went on for years and years, Gideon's assessment is more than a bit lacking and let's be open, he was rarely ever actually on the site doing work like the rest of us. NC and others were just tired of the constant drama, much of it caused by the staff that were supposed to be trustworthy. As it turned out, they weren't. What a shocker. Seriously, who saw that coming? I'm really sad to see RHDN go, but happy for NC as he now gets to leave all the worthless drama and backstabbers behind him. Edit: 6:24 Also, the drama surrounding the HomeBrew situation was NOT a misunderstanding. It was a mistake by a certain staff member to approve something labeled as HomeBrew when it contained copyrighted and trademarked Capcom content that was blatantly infringing in nature. I was the one who took it down per legal statue and RHDN policy. The situation snowballed behind the scenes, thus the announcement. What was intended to bring clarity ended up being misunderstood by those reading it(because context is seemingly hard to follow) and made their typical voices heard. NC then decided that HomeBrew was never really the scope of RHDN anyway and disabled submissions for it going forward. The existing HomeBrew was left intact. That's when the attacks on the site began. That incident is what started the chain of events that brought RHDN down. One mistaken submission approval and bunch of "people" complaining about something RHDN and NC never had any control over. For the record, RHDO/RomHackPlaza had nothing to do with RHDN's shutdown. Anyone who says it did is either completely ignorant or lying.

It would be cool if they could also add the delisted versions Sonic 1-3 and CD on steam and Xbox for the legacy collection bundle tbh, especially since the 360 versions are backwards compatibile on newer xboxes

Sonic Generations has NOT been delisted on PS3 as of today. If you have a PS3, GRAB IT. Accessing the PS3 store is a little harder these days as Sony requires some extra steps, but it is still available on that platform. Just look up guides on how to get your PS3 online in 2024, (it is 100 percent official, Sony is still operating the PS3 store at this time) and remember to get at least 25 dollars in gift cards so you can add funds to your console to purchase the game (Adding funds via credit or debit is no longer supported, and adding them via Sony's website is a nightmare if you dont have a payment method already set up)

I get it. I've run a service before. I had about 45 users in a small community. When I was done with the game that my service supported, I didn't want to keep working on my project. It was also kind of my baby, and I didn't want to just give it away to anybody. I get where NC is coming from. But when you have a staff and you are the central pillar of an entire subculture... You have to be a steward.

You know, you don’t really need the steam port of Sonic 3 and Knuckles to play Sonic 3 air. Since it’s just an emulated rom, you can just use a rom, whatever you were getting the rom from the original cartridge or downloading it from the internet.

I think Sega should relist the Steam versions since Sonic Origins is no longer new.

The thing is, these games were the only way to play the series on multiple platforms such as Mac and PS3 where Sonic Origins isn't even available even if I payed $40 for it on steam. It's like they're encouraging piracy at this point. Screw you SEGA.

That's why certain websites that preserve those type of lost media are necessary, because if it wasn't for that, basically nobody else would be able to play Sonic 3 AIR besides the ones who bought S3&K on steam. And to be honest, Sonic origins remaster of S3&K fucking sucks.

the main reason why they did it is specifically BECAUSE of sonic 3 most likely. they haven't delisted sonic generations yet, meanwhile they delisted sonic 1 2 3 and cd long before the game came out. They want a version of sonic 3 that won't get them sued to re-release.

And nothing of value was lost. If most of these games weren't shitty, they wouldn't get delisted in the first place.

I remember when Dark souls remastered came out, I had my digital copy of the 360 version in my xbox account, I bought it for 5$, then when the remaster came to xbox one I kid you not I booted the game and it told me "Do you own this game?" then it deleted it from my hardware and it was removed from store, they stole it from me an many others, they wanted us to buy the remaster for full price once again, I just went to my pc and pirated it, installed mods and had a much better time with it than with the original and the remaster.
