We were on Mackinac for a few days last week, including Saturday, September 21, when it was very foggy. We biked to Fort Holmes, the highest point on Mackinac, and couldn't see Round Island, which is usually in view. We could have seen you on a clear day, lol. Thanks for sharing your adventure!

I mean folks here in Florida take their skis to the Bahamas folks in California go to Catalina Island exactly why did they tell you you can't go any further? This is the wrong way. You want to start at the main lookout from the main trail. Then find the unmarked trail to the second dune. And then run down the sand in the trees back to the Meadow Trail and the main trail.

You should really consider keeping loose things in a bag and tethered to your vessel. I see too much trash on the Clinton and Huron Rivers. A lot of beer cans, some full, some empty, some floating and some at the bottom. Loose gear is similar to having glass on the water, just don't do it, please.

Yep...that's Stampsand. The leftover rock from crushing the copper out. It's made a HUGE mess at Buffalo Reef up towards Gay...affects fish habitat BAD.
