    I’m late but I have to disagree, Mark doesn’t have a neutral portrayal of the Jewish leaders at all, just like in Mathew and Luke they are portrayed as Hypocrites, self righteous and heart hardened, this is seen especially when Jesus heals on the sabbath: Then Jesus asked them, “Which is lawful on the Sabbath: to do good or to do evil, to save life or to kill?” But they remained silent. 5 He looked around at them in anger and, deeply distressed at their stubborn hearts, said to the man, “Stretch out your hand.” He stretched it out, and his hand was completely restored. 6 Then the Pharisees went out and began to plot with the Herodians how they might kill Jesus. Mark 3:6 This doesn’t seem like a neutral portrayal at all. Jesus also acuses them of hypocrisy and even quotes Isiah while doing so: So the Pharisees and teachers of the law asked Jesus, “Why don’t your disciples live according to the tradition of the elders instead of eating their food with defiled hands?” 6 He replied, “Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written: “‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. 7 They worship me in vain; their teachings are merely human rules Mark 7:5-7 Jesus warns his diciplee about the yeast of the Pharisees: The disciples had forgotten to bring bread, except for one loaf they had with them in the boat. 15 “Be careful,” Jesus warned them. “Watch out for the yeast of the Pharisees and that of Herod.” I could go on but that’s enough proof to dismiss your claim that Mark has a neutral portrayal of the Jewish leaders, they’re the ones that arranged Jesus arrest, spit on him and mocked him during his trial and when Pilate gives them the choice between a prisoner and Jesus they choose the prisoner. Even during the crucifixion Mak has the Jewish leaders mocking Jesus, to say that’s neutral portrayal is a bit weird. You should also see the parable of the vineyard on Mark, which seems to make a similar point to the parable of the great banket: “A man planted a vineyard, put a fence around it, dug out a pit for a winepress, and built a watchtower. Then he leased it to tenant farmers and went away. 2 At harvest time he sent a slave to the farmers to collect some of the fruit of the vineyard from the farmers. 3 But they took him, beat him, and sent him away empty-handed. 4 Again he sent another slave to them, and they[a] hit him on the head and treated him shamefully.[b] 5 Then he sent another, and they killed that one. He also sent many others; they beat some and they killed some. 6 “He still had one to send, a beloved son. Finally he sent him to them, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’ 7 “But those tenant farmers said among themselves, ‘This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him, and the inheritance will be ours!’ 8 So they seized him, killed him, and threw him out of the vineyard. 9 “Therefore, what will the owner[c] of the vineyard do? He will come and destroy the farmers and give the vineyard to others. I could make more points but I’m kinda tired of writing

    [ The economic dilemma of the Antichrist & relative immortality ] (Six hundred three SCORE and six) 666 [Important] The bible only uses the score counting method with 7 different kinds of categories, everything in existence can be classified into one, or more, of these 7 categories. Score categories 1.)Man. 2.Time. 3.)Money. 4.)Plants. 5.)Animals. 6.)Locations. 7.)Length/Measurement. [note] these seven categories of SCORE counting are the first seven categories associated with Gods creation and also mans creation in Genesis…… and that category order in Genesis goes… 1.) Time. ( Gen. 1:1 in the beginning..) 2.) Location. ( Gen. 1:2 God hovering over the deep..) 3.) measurements. ( Gen.1:6 God divided the land the sea’s the heavens etc..) 4.) plants. ( Gen.1:11 earth produced seed after his kind…) 5.) animals. ( Gen.1:sea and earth produce animals after theyre kind) 6.) man (Gen.1:26 let us go down and make man in our image) 7.) money/greed (Gen.3:6 she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also to her husband) i.e mans creation. ………………………….. The Mark Of The Beast. The mark of the beast is conveyed in the bible with the score counting system… “Six hundred three score and six” ~its the number of a MAN~ category 1.(MAN) [note] All of the categories that are mentioned above are exactly what the beast/Anti-Christ in Revelation comes to have complete control over. The Mark of the beast is an >exchange<…. I.e The ability to buy trade and sale in exchange for taking the mark and pledging allegiance to The Beast. Category 3.(MONEY) … If you are found anywhere the beast has immediate control and you also oppose the beast, your as good as dead. Category 6(LOCATION) … Plants & animals can pretty much be lumped together with money property or recourses, so… category 3.(MONEY) … Length and measurements Now this I believe is linked to another category and thats the TIME category… (2.TIME) How do i think the Antichrist will come to have control over TIME…?? When God kicked adam and eve out of the garden there was one ☝️ tree that was “left behind” ON EARTH… The Tree of Life. ( I believe the tree of life only gave you partial immortality, or in other words, they had to keep eating from it to have an eternal effect…) …🤔what if the devil is in possession of this trees fruit….? If so, then the Antichrist could potentially offer to us humans relative immortality as something that is apart of the offer of taking the mark of the beast… extra life!! Six hundred three score and six years of it. …or 666 years of extra life added onto whatever life span you already have. Why would there be this extra part of the deal of taking the mark that includes EXTRA LIFE??? 🤔 Iv always found it problematic trying to imagine how the Antichrist would exactly go about implementing such an economic system and with such impunity.. Its seemse to me that this system of the beast is so tyrannical that if implemented right now at this very Moment in time, i would imagine even every single Atheist non believer rejecting such a system out right on the pure basis of it simply not being a FREE SYSTEM….. ( Every blue haired liberal would be out in the streets rioting over the fact of being forced to bare a mark on they’re right hand or forehead just so they can buy and sell things…!! ) and how could THAT be in the devils plans?? Why would he actively do something that would lose a non believers “already gained” allegiance to him by virtue of theyre non belief in God!! this makes no sense. Unless there was some kind of catalyst involved ….. like immortality or at the very least, relative immortality…🤷🏻‍♂️ 🤔if “The Pot” was sweetened! With lets say…. Extra life! Category 2. (TIME) That might be something everyone and they’re dog would jump too!! This, to me, seems like a way more plausible implementation of a tyranny that comes to be willfully accepted then just the bare bones aspect of the Mark of the beast that is conveyed in revelation……….there, its just tyranny!! and thats it…… 🤷🏻‍♂️ A pure tyranny posses massive problems especially if its lead by the Antichrist because of the Antichrist’s Goal ( gaining Gods status) …. How could you do that by means of tyranny!?!? Maybe its not going to be a tyranny at all… Supporting thoughts Isn’t it not true that the devil not only wants to do away with God, but he himself, wants to be God?? or at the very least, have us humans believe these things about him, for himself?? If this is the case then its not to far off to imagine that the devil at least wants us to believe that he is ALSO a LIFE giver ( like God is) Now.. Lets say for the sake of argument that im right about the “relative immortality/666 years” part….! If we now have a population that has taken something that grants them extra life, i can imagine that this “new population” probably wont have to consume recourses like they once had to in order to stay alive…🤷🏻‍♂️ i mean theyre going to live to 666 years regardless at that point, so i see things like food and recourses becoming a PURE commodity…( this could explain why the bible reports that recourses will be EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE during this time) I.e… ~and i heard a voice amongst the four angels say “a measure of wheat for a days wages and a measure of barely for a days wages”… But now since food and recourses are things of pure pleasure in the eyes of this “new population”…. Now! The ones who didn’t take The Mark (The believers) and did not therefore gain extra life, will have to keep consuming the recourses at the usual rate. To this new population, it will look like the ones who didn’t take the mark are sucking up all the pleasurable recourses……and at this point they’ll be calling for the death of those who threaten they’re new “way of life”…..

    Cool video, but it doesn’t all check out. As I stated in another comment, your interpretation that the guards are Jewish does not check out. The way you interpret “you have a guard” to mean that Pilate is insinuating the Jews have their own guard to use only comes from a select few English translations. The Greek is better translated “take ye a guard”…The Greek verb may be either imperative or indicative. The former gives the better meaning. The “watch,” or “guard,” was a body of Roman soldiers “koustódia” who could not be set to such a task without Pilate’s permission. If the priests had had such a “guard” at their disposal before, there would have been no need for them to apply to Pilate.

    Interesting case. About halfway through the video and I noticed a couple things when checking your work. 1. The Greek word used for “guard/watch” in Matt. 27:65 is “κουστωδίαν” (koustōdian) and is of Latin origin, which would indicate Roman soldiers, and the word is only used three times (Matt. 27:65-66 and 28:11). 2. In Matt. 28:12 these guards are specifically identified as “soldiers” which is used 26 times in Greek to exclusively refer to Roman guards.

    • @thestudyofchristianity
      @thestudyofchristianity 23 дня назад

      Thanks for your comment. I have researched this topic and you are correct. The Greek allows for two translations: "You have a guard" = Jewish Guards OR "Take a guard" = Roman Guards But i really don't think that changes anything for this video. It was the Jewish leadership that wanted the Tomb guarded, Pilate does not initiate this.

    • @lonestarstate6570
      @lonestarstate6570 23 дня назад

      @@thestudyofchristianity Yes however, we also have to take into consideration The other Greek words used to describe these guards. As I stated in my comments. These words only exclusively refer to Roman soldiers.

    • @thestudyofchristianity
      @thestudyofchristianity 23 дня назад

      @@lonestarstate6570 It is possible. Here something supporting your position: "The Greek term used in this verse, Greek: κουστωδίας, koustodia, is a borrowing from the Latin custodia, and thus also implies Roman forces." So you maybe correct. I suppose I believe that Matthew is using this word to still refer to Jewish Guards.

    Josephus wrote Luke . The whole tale is a concocted Roman religious propaganda intended to declare the Flavian dynasty as the new Messiahs. Upon the fall of the dynasty after Domitiuos roman Caesars turned back on the project and tried to suppress it. It nevertheless continued in secret and branched into several sects and versions prosecuted by some emperors and tolerated by others as long as Rome's supremacy is acknowledged . 250 years later we had the roman version of the religion and the eastern version in stark conflict, Hence, the Roman empire sought to force its original version ( a deified Messiah with Rome as supreme representative). It fought a fierce religious / doctrine war in the east Mediterranean and crushed / purged all other versions and other religions. By 330s , it was able to force its concoction of the tale and contemporary Christianity was borne.

    Huge fan of your videos, but I feel like there is some cherry picking going on in this series, and I am not confident in our ability to discern Matthew's motives in making the changes he does. For instance, you say that Matthew's addition of Peter walking on the water is meant to elevate Peter as a leader of the church-but the very passage you quote shows that Peter FAILS to walk on the water, and Jesus thus berates him as "one of little faith." If Matthew was simply adding this story for the reason you posit, why wouldn't he have Peter walk confidently on the water and receive praise for having GREAT faith? I suspect that if the situation were reversed-if Mark had included the story and Matthew had omitted it-you would argue that Matthew disliked the story of Peter failing to walk on water, which is why he left it out. But if the opposite scenario can be used to support your theory just as easily, then perhaps the evidence isn't so clearly pointing in one direction after all. Similarly, you say that Matthew adds James and John's mother to the narrative to make the apostles appear less foolish-but Matthew says the brothers are kneeling before Jesus as their mother is speaking. Clearly, they are also making the request, the mother is simply their spokesperson. If anything, this seems like an even more pathetic display! They didn't even have the courage to ask Jesus themselves? If Matthew's agenda is what you assume, it seems to me that James and John would not be present at all-or would even contradict/rebuke their mother for asking such a thing of their master. I am not saying that there is nothing to your hypothesis, and I readily accept that the Gospels contradict each other (so I am not coming at this from the POV that everything must be harmonized), but I think the evidence seriously undetermines your specific conclusions. One last example. In your previous video, you argued that Matthew's view of the Jewish leaders is more negative than that of Mark-which I think is broadly true-but Matthew includes something, which Mark does not, that actually upholds the authority of the Jewish leaders. “The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses' seat, *so do and observe whatever they tell you,* but not the works they do" (Matthew 23:2-3). Here, though Jesus is continuing his trend of criticizing the moral character of the Jewish leaders, he is also affirming their authority-something Mark says nothing about. I think these passages are just as important to discuss as the others you mentioned in your video, as they give a more complete picture and suggest (to me at least) that more may be going on than that "Matthew is more anti-Jewish leaders than Mark." All of this being said, I continue to be a very happy Patron and remain excited to see your next video!

      Thank you for the insightful comment. I love people sharing opposing views, especially when they are well argued like yours. And I certainly hope you continue to raise objections as we continue. With the pleasantries out of the way... Here is my counter: ------ Firstly, a numbers game ------ You have raised only 2 concerns of the 12 examples I've used. 1) Mark 8/ Matthew 16 - ADDS - Peter is the Rock 2) Mark 6/ Matthew 14 - ADDS - Peter walking on the water 3) Mark 10/ Matthew 19 - ADDS - Disciples will judge the twelve tribes 4) Mark 16/Matthew 28 - ADDS - Great Commission 5) Mark 10/Mathew 20 - EDITS - Zebedee Mother Asks 6) Mark 9/Matthew 18 - EDITS - Disciple no longer ague about greatness 7) Mark 8/Matthew 16 - EDITS - Now they understand the parable 8) Mark 9/Matthew 16 - EDITS - The disciple know John the Baptist is Elijah 9) Mark 4/Matthew 13 - OMITS - Not understanding the Parable 10) Mark 9/Matthew 16 - OMITS - “[Peter] did not know what to say…” 11) Mark 9/Matthew 16 - OMITS - “Questioning what this rising from the dead could mean” 12) Mark 9/ Matthew 00 - OMITS - entire story of people acting outside Apostolic leadership ------ Secondly - Peter Walking on Water ------ In Mattthew, Peter gets out of the boat and walks on the water. He then sees the wind and starts to sink. So yes, he isn't perfect, but he still did something none other of the disciple did - walked on water! Matthew doesn't present Peter as perfect. For example, In Matthew 16, after saying Peter is the rock of the church, Jesus then calls him Satan (just like in Mark). My argument is not that Peter is perfect, but he an important leader in Matthew's Gospel - he BOLDY walks on the water when no other disciple did!! ------ Thirdly - Sons of Zebedee Request ------ The Greek is not clear whether only she knelt down or they all knelt down before Jesus. Different translations render it different ways. But we can say with certainty, by adding in the Mother, Matthew raises the possibility that the request comes from her and not from James and John. ------ Fourthly - Jewish Leaders ------ As you note, this is about the previous video. You raise this example, as a counter: “The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses' seat, so do and observe whatever they tell you, but not the works they do" (Matthew 23:2-3). You've raised a really important verse here and this will be apart of another video in this series. The video will be: Matthew and Mark's different views of the LAW. Matthew believes his audience, should still be following the Law (but of course not following the Pharisees) Thus, we should listen to the Pharisees with they sit of Moses' seat. More to come on this. ------ Conclusion ------ Thank you again for your well-reasoned comment, I really enjoyed reading it and making this counter. You have raised good points, but i still very confident that we can discern Matthew's motives. The amount of examples in this video are too overwhelming to ignore. Matthew is ANTI-JEWISH leadership, PRO-APOSTOLIC leader and as we shall see PRO-LAW.

      @@thestudyofchristianity Thank you for your thoughtful reply! I'll respond to each of your points in turn. 1) "You have raised only 2 concerns of the 12 examples I've used." I could raise issues with some (though not all) of the others as well, but I thought the examples I picked were clear enough to demonstrate my point. To be clear, I think some of your examples are good and support your hypothesis. I just don't think they're necessarily as definitive as you say, and I think there are counterexamples that work against the hypothesis. For example, consider Matthew 17:19-20 versus Mark 9:28-29. In Mark's version, when the disciples are unable to cast out a demon and ask Jesus why they were unable, Jesus simply replies, "This kind can only come out by prayer [and fasting]." In Matthew's version, Jesus says, "Because you have so little faith." Again, if the situation was reversed, I expect you would have brought up this passage in the video and said, "Matthew doesn't like Jesus' rebuke of the disciples in Mark and swaps it out for something less severe." Again, my point is NOT to say that there are no good verses in support of your hypothesis but simply that (1) not ALL the ones you cited are good and (2) the evidence underdetermines your conclusion IMO. But I think it is an interesting and worthwhile hypothesis all the same! I do think the video would have been stronger if it had also showed the points against the hypothesis and been presented in a more nuanced/reserved fashion, but that might just be a reflection of my personal taste. 2) "My argument is not that Peter is perfect, but he['s] an important leader in Matthew's Gospel - he BOLDY walks on the water when no other disciple did!!" I agree, though I think Peter is an important leader in Mark's Gospel as well-even if there is more material emphasizing this in Matthew. 3) "But we can say with certainty, by adding in the Mother, Matthew raises the possibility that the request comes from her and not from James and John." I would argue we can say the exact opposite with certainty! The passage reads: “You don’t know what you are asking,” Jesus said to *them.* “Can you drink the cup I am going to drink?” *“We can,” they answered.* We can see here that Jesus specifically addresses James and John when he says "You don't know what you are asking." So, clearly, Jesus sees James and John as making the request (alongside their mother, of course). Furthermore, Matthew leaves in Mark's detail that: "When the ten heard about this, they were indignant with the two brothers." The disciples sure seem to think James and John were making the request. It seems the addition of the mother does not remove their responsibility for the request in the eyes of Jesus, the disciples, and thus neither, I would argue, in the eyes of Matthew. So then, like Mark, Matthew absolutely and unequivocally frames James and John as asking Jesus' for special seats on his right and left hand. I therefore don't think this example is evidence for or against your hypothesis. I would argue Matthew's inclusion of the mother serves some other purpose. 4) I look forward to your next video! P.S. Sorry if my replies seem a little incomplete, I have had to write each of them rather quickly. I hope what I'm saying makes some sense!

      @@anthonynelson6249 Thank you for your well reasoned responses. 1) You make a good argument concerning Matthew 17:19-20 versus Mark 9:28-29 - This is an example that runs counter to the 12 examples i have shown in this video. Good point. But Matthew often says that the disciple have little faith, the fact that he adds that in to Matthew 17:19-20 doesn't disprove the 12 examples in the video above. We shouldn't think 1 example to the contrary negates the 12 examples we see clearly. Also, there are more than just the 12 examples: Here is another: Mark 4:4 says the disciples have NO FAITH Matthew 8:26 says the disciples have a LITTLE FAITH 2) I think we are in some agreement here. 3) Your argument is very well reasoned. But I would just say this: IN LIGHT OF THE PATTERN we see in Matthew, in which he rehabilites the image of the disciples, it is LIKELY that Matthew has added in the Mother to suggest that this request arises with HER and not her sons. Can you think any other reason why Matthew would add in their Mother into the story? What other purpose could she serve? Once again, thank you for your comment and please continue to raise objections!

    The covenant said if I don’t do my part may this happen to me. If this is what God was saying to Abraham and that it actually happened to God, doesn’t that mean that He would have broken that covenant?

      He said Abraham broke the covenant but I’m still wondering how. Unless Jesus came for the Ishmael side of descendants (lost children of the house of Israel).

    There's a reason why God (YHWH) gave the Israelites commandments and Rules before they even got the land. (The Question is why He gave us Jesus Christ After) every country has a Constitution and A Bill of Rights. In a Democracy It all depends on a country if it wants to be united on A lie and what is wrong or on TRUTH and What is right. At the end of the day it's all about Commonunity = Common Unity. The people Decide what kind of Guardian Angel they want over their territory Examples of a person’s basic human rights include the right to privacy, dignity, equality, access to healthcare, freedom of speech, fair labour practices, and so on. As for me: I choose TRUTH Always regardless of others (choices or actions).
