You never touch the front on slow speed turn. Also check out how to pick up a bike (it's a piece of p*ss even with a GS). And stirrup mounting a bike (also a piece of p*ss).

Don't you just hate it when you drop the bike.. Best tactic I've found is to put your back to the bike and lift, something to do with using your legs . It's a beautiful country...

This illustrates very well why the R1250 and other over-heavy bikes are quite pointless for touring, especially if you are not too experienced. You can fit as much luggage and in practise go just as fast on a much smaller, more manageable motorcycle. But again and again, ambitious (and very well off) riders keep falling for the hype about big touring bikes. The R1250 is a fine bike, but it is NOT for touring except on easy roads unless you know what you are doing. Itchy Boots has proven many times that you can go around the world on a 300 cc motorcycle more efficiently, more safely, and with less hassle.

The big BMW GS's are fantastic machines they really are. However, the weight of them ruins it for me. I'd have gone for a Himaleyan 450 or a African Twin.

I saw him around 2001 at a jongleurs and his whole act was improvised or so it seemed. He was very good at working the crowd. I was a bit amazed when he seemed to make it big over the following years

mmm? Should have gone for a smaller bike. The 1250 is really too big for most middle aged men. OK if you are tall and still strong, but it is easy to tip it over. A GS 800 would have been a better choice. Much lighter and easier to handle.

Those uphill tight hairpins can be a nightmare, especially when forced to the inside line. Looks a fantastic place to ride-bliss on a motorbike.

If you drop the bike again (hopefully you have ticked the box now so won't happen!), face away from it and walk yourself backwards as you push it up, thereby using your legs and arms to push it up. Far easier than lifting the full weight of the bike with your arms alone.
