The time has come to say goodbye to El Nido and head over to Coron Town. We booked a ferry ticket to do the crossing in 4 hours, it was around $28 each, however, there were some other fees involved that we didn't realize!

We leave Port Barton and transfer up to El Nido, finding some delicious coffee and food and seeing what El Nido has to offer. It's definitely busier than Port Barton, however, the streets are walkable and the scenery is unbeatable. I have a feeling we're going to love it here.

We finally hired scooters here in Port Barton, Palawan and went on a drive around to see the incredible waterfalls and beaches surrounding this quiet fishing village. Thanks for telling your story, I think you give very good advice in your conclusion about finding true friends who are supportive in all aspects of your life in what you are trying to achieve, and have similar interests. I wish I had advice like that 50 years ago, but then the world was very different and there was no understanding or knowledge about what a true gay friendship and relationship was.

You’re not scammed. I did too paid for the extras the one you did mentioned. They usually say those extra fees booking a trip.
Yup really annoying with all these tours that charge different prices and hidden agendas. I do wish the Dept. of Tourism and Local Government Unit (LGU) will mandate for same affordable prices for the tourists. I get it that they have to make a living but charging tourists arm and leg is not cool.
Since it was a private tour, I think you should have asserted yourselves when told of time restriction after being told otherwise at time of purchase. Sorry guys. Private tours for sure are more $ because they lose out on other clients. But it does seem like something was fishy when told its an all day tour but ended half day 😢😠🤔👎
It is a shame! I was caught with asserting and then dealing with animosity for the rest of the tour vs trying to make the most of it. Though we are doing a private tour in Coron and the tour guide/organizer is so attentive and explains everything in detail, so we are excited for that one!

When I went, Starbucks was not in the Philipines so many of the more "metro" areas had coffee "companies" whose names directly made fun of Starbucks. I wish I would have kept some of the cups. One of the areas I stayed in the longest had two. One was Star Buck's Coffee and the other was Mr.Buck's Coffee. The first had a Jedi holding a lightsaber and the second used the original Starbuck's logo but the mermaid had a man's face smoking a cigar and holding a cup. And then we went to see Marcos' body on display in Batoc and behind the stone mausoleum was a "Not Starbucks Coffee" along with a giant round green sign the size of a bus that used the actual mermaid symbol.
That sounds so much fun! I love it when they do fun re-brands of popular brands and see what people come up with and their creativity!
That was very busy. Sometimes they have slow seasons where its in the 70s and you are one of only a couple of people on the beach. I went in the "winter" an in two months only saw two nonFilipinos. Everything is cheaper in the winter, especially the flight. The only drawback to going in the winter is the raindrops are the size of golf balls and can strike out of nowhere and some of the tourist attractions might be closed, mainly the water ones.

No you were not scammed, the kayak is always an option. But they should explain when you were booking. We booked similar private tour but did the booking while still in Oz and they clearly stated things like kayak, water shoes, are extra.
