    I first heard of Langua in two recent videos on Qroo Paul's Spanish channel ("The best AI for learning Spanish (and other languages)" and "Practice your Spanish anytime, anywhere!"). He said Langua can detect grammatical errors in Spanish but he didn't mention the limitation you referred to. You claim the grammar correction doesn't work in the conversation or debate sections but only the grammar section. If that's true it's odd Qroo Paul didn't mention it because he claimed he experimented a lot with Langua during the last few weeks.

    • @CasanovaExplains

      Perhaps it differs depending on the language :) during the period I tested it for the languages I mentioned, that was not the case, but it would be interesting to know if it’s different per language or other factors, cause I quite enjoyed it!

You can check it manually to check a particular thing you said or leave it on for constant feedback. The AI will continue the conversation or debate but you are getting immediate feedback on the screen"

      @@brucea9871 That is quite interesting, thank you for reporting back! I have just tried again now in English, German and Arabic, thinking that maybe they changed it recently- but no, it still it does not correct grammar in debate mode even when I use clearly wrong grammar like past participle following "should" e.g. :) I even explicitly asked it to correct my grammar haha. However, in the grammar mode it works great! I think that it is a great AI language learning platform nonetheless, but I would only caution people using it (at least in those languages haha), that it might not catch your grammar mistakes outside the grammar mode! :)

      Perhaps what the person you mentioned was talking about is the "refinement" tool, where you can refine your response. Here it would suggest better phrasing (and in the process kinda re-writes what you wrote or said), but it does not point out specifically to the mistakes you made :)

      I haven’t come across completely free good language apps- I’m personally not a big fan of Duolingo since the pronunciation in languages other than English can be wildly off, and that to me ruins it. Perhaps it’s better at some languages. Clozemaster offers a great deal for free which is great! Other than that, online resources like BBC learn English or DW for German (plus many others), often do a better job. I think that apps are a nice add-on but aren’t comprehensive enough on their own. Just my personal opinion :) best of luck!

    Hi, I can relate to Busuu's lack of variability but still I use it, having started with German and a month later paid a year-long subscription; later also tried French and Italian, and I keep going with the latter for now. Maybe it's premium-only thing but you can actually review grammar in this app, specific topics that belong to a certain level. The only problem is that for some reason the grammar review for German is more limited than Italian - 35-37 topics vs. 49! Although I've progressed up to the mid-B1 and mid-A2 respectively; could be a bug caused by me starting German on free version, who knows.🤷‍♂️ I've also noticed that it's more productive when you take notes… but I guess this applies to whatever you're learning. And yeah, I've been waiting for Clozemaster! I use it a lot lately. An absurd trick I've come up with for the free version is to learn, say, German from English, Spanish, Italian, French… even Portuguese and Dutch, just to have more listening exercise to train my hearing for the language. As a Spanish learner and speaker I consider SpanishDist the best language app; kinda wish something similar existed for German… Your last note is also very true. You need to practice the target language. I've ended up passing both A1 and A2 tests on a local language school's website after a year in Busuu+Clozemaster barely speaking it IRL or even texting; they told me to go for B1 classes and if it's too tough I'll go back to A2. Weird.

    • @CasanovaExplains
      @CasanovaExplains 13 дней назад

      Thanks a lot for sharing your experience! Busuu is quite good, my problem with it is that it's too easy for upper levels. All the lessons I tried were just tapping the (very easy) correct answers. At the start I had to do a "placement test" on which I scored 100% and was placed in B2 haha :) But yeah, I think for beginners it's great. Most of these apps promise to teach you the language on their own, which is not realistic as you pointed out :)

    • @Robostomp
      @Robostomp 13 дней назад

      @@CasanovaExplains ah, true! I've passed this "placement test" for Spanish and it gave me C1; there's no way I know it at such a high level: vocabulary, expressions and subtle grammatical nuances. My fav language learning resource by far is Clozemaster. And there is actually a way to turn it into a very difficult Duolingo, all the way hidden in the forums! What you need to do is make sure to go to the website, if on mobile / tablet quickly on the 3 dots tap 'desktop mode'. From there, you can start a normal round. Then click on the URL, and at the end of it, you should see 'mode=multiple_choice'. You can change that 'multiple_choice' part into 'full_text_input'. And send it. Then you should see the translation, and you can translate that entire sentence word by word with immediate custimisable feedback. You can, for example, make it so that every word you type will be red or green depending on whether it's the right or wrong one. And can also get AI to explain the sentence fully, grammar, and all at the click of a button afterwards! You can even click on each word and have it direct to Wiktionary to see its inflexions and more meanings. Try it out if you can. I highly recommend it!

    Thumb up for your good review👍 You need to review the subtitles that RUclips automatically delivered. You gave the ChatGPT icon in your presentation and said you are using it. I'm presently working daily with ChatGPT trying to find a protocol to study/translate with it switching between several languages, I haven't found a smooth approach yet. I'll check your dedicated video, thank you! It is very promising and improving all the time much faster than all the language apps; for example Duolingo brags about AI, my guess is all their efforts are focused on the big earners (Spanish, French...), many other languages are neglected in a state you would have expected a language app to be 20 years ago. (Parenthetically, Busuu transcription confuses the هه and the حح in Arabic --both 'h'-- meaning no one in their team has studied Arabic more than a few months.)

    For LanguaTalk the sentence you gave in Arabic as an example (about the sustainability of nuclear power) is not pronounced by a native as you say; I am mentioning this because I have been faced with the disastrous Arabic pronunciation on Duolingo that might sound almost realistic 60% of the time but the rest of the time it screws up big time and you report the issue nothing is done even months later. In Arabic and less popular languages people have little reference apart from the app they're learning on, I can't imagine how many mistakes are taught by main learning apps.

      @@CasanovaExplains As far as my level goes in Arabic (I'm not a native) I'd agree with you that the computer voice that pronounces the Arabic sentence at 5:36 makes no mistake in long/short vowels or vocalization; it's just that if Langua advertised for "native voice" (I don't know if they do) the learners expect actual persons to pronounce the sentences, this voice is bland, lifeless; another issue is that it feels that this Arabic voice has been trained on a European model as a basis (they added ح ق ط ظ on top of an original), retaining the European lightness of consonants you find in Latin languages; to express it clumsily, the native Arabs from Kuwait or Morocco would pronounce most consonants 'rougher', 'heavier' or more 'affricate'. Please ask a linguist native to argue for or against this view, I'm only a translator.

      Hello there, I am Moroccan so I guess I can share my view. I agree that the sound in the app felt lifeless and very automated, but it is still correct pronunciation for standard arabic. Standard arabic is not very similar to accents such as Moroccan, Egyptian...etc. the tones are much rougher in accents but way lighter in standard arabic. This was a very fun yet very exhausting video to make haha! Do you guys use language learning apps? do you find them useful? CORRECTION: Thanks to @brucea9871 and @sunce0072 for pointing out that Langua CAN correct your grammar, which makes it an even more amazing platform! there is a pen tool underneath your response, it is supposed to do that! :) 💓 You still need to invoke it manually though, it doesn’t alert you automatically when you have mistakes.

      The best language learning app is just watching RUclips videos in the languages people want to learn. I did that for 4 years and now I'm fairly fluent in Japanese.

    Thank you, I found that only doing flashcards doesn't help in gaining vocab

      I also never had good results with flashcards only especially when I was studying for the GRE, learning words out of context is challenging!

    Hello, I was wondering, if I can share with you the most important thing. God the Father sent His holy Son Jesus to earth, to be born of a virgin. He grew up and died on the cross for our sins. Then He was put into a tomb for 3 days, after that Abba Father raised Jesus to life.He appeared to people, and went back to heaven. We all must sincerely receive Jesus into our life to be God's child. See John 1:12 for this please. Will you today genuinely by faith receive Jesus into your life for salvation?

    Interesting and valuable content as usual 👏 The examples are helping to make it less abstract and easier to understand 👍 Waw around 20h to produce ~7min¼ 😱 It's necessary to spend around 166 times more time for each second of the final performance! Naively I wouldn't have expected so much but that makes sense actually. Learning guitar, I guess it's even much more ! 😅🙈 Habit n°2 help me a lot with that: everything sounds usually crappy at the beginning because everything is new and complex and I'm still not aware about all what I'm doing wrong. Breaking it down however analyzing my way of playing is the fuel for the iterative improvement engine started with training sessions. Anyway, the 3 first habits seem to me to be related to the KISS principle what is really valuable 👍

      Thank you very much, I'm happy to hear that you found it valuable and that the examples are useful! Indeed making videos is very time consuming, I know that some of the bigger channels have dedicated video editors and the video editing alone takes 5 days or more. While for me being on the smaller scale, the whole process from start to finish still takes 4 days. But it's enjoyable and very rewarding when I hear people like you saying that they find value in it :) Btw, for me personally I found what worked best for learning instruments (piano in my case) is starting with one piece and practicing different skills around that piece daily (e.g. scales, rhythm, cords, sightreading... etc), but of course that may not work for everyone as some people get bored if they need to stick to one piece for a longer time :)
