I wanted to say thank you so much for the info now as a teen student my ipod classic is now fix just took time to open the device but it was easy to follow

I’m so done i been trying to download it for hours i format the drive everytime i restore it i download the boot loader and the other files separately many times don’t even know how many anymore and after hours still no partition found do you think there’s anyway to fix it anymore or did i just kill it?

For some reason, during installation rock box never gave me the command to do the DFU thing, it just downloaded everything and said it was done, and when I tried to restart the iPod it wouldn’t budge, just has this do not disconnect screen that hasn’t changed the whole time. I’m so bad at tech idk why I tried to do this hahah

Did you restore the owners music? I lost my music but I believe the files are on another part of the hard drive. Was that your music you added to see if the device works or did you restore the owners?

I just wanted to let you know your videos are fantastic. Just finished modding my 5.5 Gen iPod with an iFlash solo, 2000 mah battery, new screen and had to change out the audio jack and hold button. Only had sound from one side and no click sound. I did binge watch all of your videos. And I did not open it like a book.

If the backlight for the screen doesn’t seem to work any longer then besides the screen being the issue and just replacing could there be any other case for it?

I followed this exactly and when it got to the final window instead of showing the hard drive data I got a blank white screen that was frozen, it took a lot of random button pressing before i was able shut it down and restart, be warned people.

I replaced a battery and reseated the SD card in my 5th gen classic. Your video gave me the confidence to do it. Wasn't easy to open, as the original owner, who carried out the hard drive to SD conversion put the iPod into 6th gen case. I have 2 more 6th gen classics that need new batteries.... When it comes to flash modding, the 6th generation iPod can only read up to 128GB of modded storage through the stock OS due to the LBA28 addressing limitation. The 160GB model used some kind of workaround that would only work specifically with the thick custom 160GB hard drive Apple made, if you took a thin 160GB hard drive from a 7th gen and put it in a 6th gen it would actually fail to read the full capacity and default to 128GB just like with a flash mod. The only way to support more storage is through the use of RockBox.

What I think happened is the iPod was dropped. It caused one of the components or multiple components on the board to loosen. Then while you were handling it, you inadvertently pushed everything back into place, for it to work again.

Hello. I took out a broken 60 gig 5th gen hard drive and replaced it with an I Flash quad put in two SD 128 cards.. formatted them just to make sure everything was working before I continued.. all checked out fine. Put new battery in too. When I was finished I got the Connect to your computer use iTunes etc sign, when I connect it.. it is not picked up by iTunes and immediately I get a do not disconnect followed by an Ok to disconnect sign....and it just sits there doing nada....any ideas on that one?

Batteries connectors on my 2 iPods classic version 2.0.5 detach from the board when I try to disconnect them. I'm looking for someone who can re-solder them.
