Doesn't sound like most of your viewers understand why you did this, but I do. But what I'd be keen to know is what filter oil you used? It looked like it was red, is that the K&N oil the instructions say not to use? That stuff is too thin
Use a non spray on oil, like bel ray. And add a little bit of grease on the bottom of the foam filter.
Need to get some non-spray oil. Had the spray sitting around. Little grease ain’t a bad idea!
🎉 that the mods begin 🎉
💯
Your wedge cut wasn't deep enough, i rarely ever have to use wedges.
Wow, a lot of soft handed men in this comment section 😆. Stock filter is a known problem and a foam filter oiled with the correct tacky foam filter oil will stop basically anything.
lol you heard it hear first folks 😎
When you spend over $1,500 on a saw you want to take care of it. I don't think people realize just how bad the stock filter really is.
fun times right there congrats on the new girl we love ours
Thanks it’s a blast!
looks up bark buster or egan one shot i got the eps on my 362 cm and the 500i its really hard to make these saws better but for 80.00 is bucks im all smiles . in not doing any other stuff but pm and run them. enjoy the night and hope you were out running your girl today
Can’t wait to get a 500i I run a fire wood company around here I get one used not much use for 1,000
Nice, it will change your fire wood cutting game!
@@TheEngineerNextDoor55 hope does need to put my 044 away I not like use it it’s old an my baby
I run the stock filter on mine, I just put a little grease around the base of the air filter. No wood dust gets by now.
Not a bad idea!
Get yourself a Eric straight shot exhaust have one on my 261 have lifetime warranty un like West Coast saws products their welds fall apart I had few of there on my 044 So I go with a straight shot ones if u need more info about them let know
Will do thanks!
i fail to see the problem here , as already been said filter has done it's job , i didn't see any chips or dust up in the filter , think some just do mods for the hell of it , but not for me , keep mine stock , modding saws in uk is not a big thing really , we just get on and use them , but good video on how to fit upgraded filter kit ,
Thanks!
You are having too much fun. I have the Stihl 661 I used to glide through 45 inch logs on Hoof N Homestead. The 462 is my felling saw.
Still need to try a 661! On the bucket list!
Oil filter to messy, no thanks!
You know you aren’t wrong!
Get yourself one of this Suspension Kits, that will help you an your Long bar 👍👍
For sure, going to cut a bit more with it and see if I want to upgrade!
Looks like the filter did its job, nice video! 😊
Thanks, I think it worked out good!
It feels much better doing borecuts.
It's a night and day difference!
Good video. I have a 500i also, I put a 8 tooth sprocket on mine what a difference. Mine has been trouble free after 2yrs with stock filter. I do put a little grease under the filter on the rubber gasket.
Thanks Bob! That is a good idea, I’ll have to try a 8 tooth sprocket! Hope your saw lasts a lifetime, cheers!
Congratulation to your new saw! Using a 32" bar I recommend the spring kit from Westcoastsaw. The stock springs are too weak. Give it more pressure in the cut, it likes it.
Thank you, want to cut a bit more with it to see if I can notice it. Might just be using the MS270 for so long, that anything feels better than that ha!
thats gotta be soooo loud right?
100%, my neighbors would hate me if I ran it like that!
Might want to get yourself a semi skip chain and also a full house chain they'll probably cut a lot faster in that type of wood with the power the 500 I has
For sure, my saw shop was out of semi skip and full house when I bought the saw so full skip it was! It's on the list.
Press in the small pin on the STIHL 500i oiler and set the chain oiler to maximum (all the way up). Without pressing in the tiny pin right beside the oiler screw you can't run the Stihl 500i oiler on maximum as i found out a few years ago. Without doing that u can't use 28 - 32 - 36-inch bar because it runs dry and u damage ur bar. You need give the tiny pin a few hits with a hammer. There are some videos on RUclips just search for STIHL 500i OILER . Have a good one. ✌️
It’s too bad someone pays 1500 dollars and still have to spend more money to get it right.
No doubt, the filter design they had for years worked great, not sure why they had to go and change it!
i added some foam padding on my stock cover and it def helped but im do like the 362s twist set up 100% more
I put a longer bar on my 029 before the ms 290 came out and cut a lot fire wood and fell trees for years and didn't have to pay all that money for a saw that big
Nice!
great saw add a bark box muffler for the 500i and max flow filer
Got the max flow air filter already, going on this week! Still thinking about the bark box!
@@TheEngineerNextDoor55 get it Mate it Really Sounds Like a Beast and gives a Bit Performance and power
@@TheEngineerNextDoor55 If your thinking about the bark box, i might have one laying around that I only bolted on to see the difference. The absoult way to go is the 500i pipe by Mark Trader. I have one on mine little $$$ costly buy WOW does it ever improve on what's already awesome. let me know if interested in the bark box and I see what I can do. I'm in the state of PA.
@@blackbandedfireworks2741thanks, I really appreciate the offer! If I get the bark box I’ll probably just order the full suspension kit pack with a bark box in it!
That thing looks like a beast!
It really it!
Nasty!!
Or you be a real mechanic and you will get it off no matter what
More than two ways to skin a cat, dude
You must live down with, Midwest/South it's definitely not always possible. No matter how "tough" you are 😂

What kind of gas do i use on my new buy Chevy Silverado 2000 /V8 5.3/ 4x4 1500

Thank you!!

Glad you like them!

Outrageous intro!
😁
Just get fish tape brother
My old one rusted away, need to buy a nice one. I just don’t pull wire enough to justify it.
Nicely done
Thanks!!
Im pretty sure it takes 6 qts
Yes, can you count? A 5 quart oil jug and 1 quart of Lucas stabilizer. 1+5=?
It does, all my oil doesn’t drain so 5.5 quarts what I need to add for my oil level to be just right.
where's ur video?? oh ya,u don't have any. why not just sftu. ppl like you who comment trying to sound smart look like fools. obviously he k iws what he's doing. I mean u can't even pay attention to what he said .geezzz
Seems a little hot!
It’s toasty alright!
Your truck oil capacity is 6 quarts? Very nice video!
Thanks, yep 5.5 quarts for the 5.3L engine! Thirsty engine!

Yes sir! This is why I love buying older, more thoughtfully made tools than the current garbage purveying the market currently
It is very telling when you open these older tools up what the quality difference is. Blows your mind honestly.
Milwaukee and Dewalt! Hmmm which you prefer?
Tough one! Ran dewalt 20V my whole life. Just recently got this Milwaukee 12V 3/8” stubby for last Black Friday. My ultimate decision was, Milwaukee has better 12V tools I want to expand into. But I already to deep into dewalt to switch my 20V platform. If I were to start from zero again I would probably go with Milwaukee to be honest.
Awesome :)
Thanks 😁
Can you use romex?
Yes. Made a 10ft 3-prong power cord with romex at my job 2 weeks ago.
No, Romex is not a portable cable and shouldn’t be used to make a power cord.
