I swapped my ST-204 with an ST-205 WRC 3S-GTE. After some reasonable breathing and cooling modifications it put down a very conservative 325WHP @ 18PSI on the dyno with torque to match. The BEAMS car in the video, as well as my own, feature an LSD that greatly improves its ability to put that power to the ground. They can be found in appropriately optioned MKIII MR2s and will transfer right over to the FWD gearbox. Mine weighed in at just over 2700lbs with full interior/spare/jack/subwoofer the last time I was at the track. I need to see what it puts down now that it’s tuned for 25PSI. Should be ~400WHP.

@@ichwersunst yea kinda crazy to me that back when it came out it was considered "heavy" where by modern standards it's super light :P especially considering it's size (had a at200 celica myself...it is not a "small" car ) always thought cars would keep getting lighter and more efficient...but instead they got heavier and...due to mass stayed about as efficient for a long long time despite engines getting more and more efficient >.>

@@ichwersunst I mean coming from a SS-III owner the 202 with BEAMs engine the 202 is indeed a little bit overweight especially in it's FWD counterpart. Initial i had mindset of pitting it against a DC5 type S and Prelude, it will always comes out short in-terms of agility compared the the Honda's due the the Celica's long front overhang, further contributing to the heftiness when you push it. Toyota designed the 6GC to take on the Audi S2 quattro in mind, the compromise would only be more obvious when you take out the rear wheel drivetrain components. even with the SS-III trim the car still weights 1200kg flat making K20A2 power with more torque, from an iron block. Its has a longer wheelbase compared to both the DC5 and Preludes. To Cope with it, I reframe my mindset and look at it as the Celica being a full size 2+2 cruiser that tries to mimic the illusive sensation of a rwd coupe and an entry competing with it's European contemporaries of that era (Corrado , Alfa Romeo GTV twin-spark), it will started to make sense. The Beams head flows really good from factory and responds really good to forced induction while still retaining it's moderately high compression ratio. The whole configuration is literally screaming for more torque to make it viable for today's performance standard.

Car is back already with replacement engine. Lower mileage one I think!

The age of this engine is not really know to me, and I pushed it hard to the red line at a number of track days. Replacement is in already...!
