Do NOT avoid tokyo because it's "touristy". Tokyo is an amazing city with plenty to do, you just have to look. And plan, but leave days and times loose. You won't know how you're feeling on a particular day. It's a vacation, not a labor camp. Do what you want, stay near the Airbnb and just visit cafes, sleep in so you can try out the night life. So many people try to distill a japan visit into some strict representation of the country when you should just be enjoying your time there
