Its a coin flip between Netherlands and France for me at this point. I think the dub is going to come down to the MX2 rider and whoever shows up feeling good. Renaux is a question mark because he's not been consistent since his return from injury. The Hoff always comes to play for MXON and he has been doing slightly better (results wise) than Renaux lately. Bummed with all the last minute injuries for basically every team, but still should be a great race to watch!

I overheard Brian at Charlotte after the press conference saying the main reason they don't want to go is that there is no incentive to go. That they have to pay out of pocket to get there and that there's no prize money or bonuses. As well as that their #1 focus is winning a SX title and the risk of injury outweighs the reward of racing des Nations. I don't have any issue with those reasons, but not being open is just annoying.

You do a podcast with Lewis who interviewed Deegan after Millville & asked about him MXDN. He said “maybe will see, I have to get surgery to get hardware removed, so will see what doctors, team & everyone says.” You’re a moto journalist let’s stick to facts instead of anonymous source speculation. If it’s not coming from Coker, Hendler, Duffe, Bobby or the Deegan’s, I would call it a source.

Regarding the gimmicky points, those are really the only reason Deegan won last year, since Jo's results were better than his. Shimoda's also a notoriously horrible starter, probably the worst since Tim Ferry, so I don't know how much of that example is Deegan and how much of it is just Jo's start technique sucking.

They need to keep the mini bikes off the smx tracks and build the gnarly tracks with massive jumps and options.

I knew Haiden had everyone beat when at the pre race press conference at round 1 he was the only one who seemed to put importance on the first round and single points, everyone else was just saying brushed it off and said they just need to get through that round. Loser mentality, I was disappointed tbh

I'm tired of people saying the 250 class is stacked. It's not. No one starts consistently, no one stays upright consistently, and no one is fast consistently except 1 guy. And probably the worst part is there is no fight to compete by anyone. They are just practice track riding on race day.

as someone who’s raced my entire life (not motocross)I have to opinions. A talent like Jett isn’t gonna be affected by a 3 month break from ridding. Maybe fitness but definitely not speed. On Chases hand him complaining about the bike is a rider thing. Some people have a skill to ride through bike problems and other people don’t have that. Chase unfortunately doesn’t have that skill and he needs to be comfortable to be fast he is still an incredible talent tho.

Great meeting you this past weekend (guy in wheelchair). I feel Eli is still going to improve more, but Jett will still be ahead. Chase is going to need to find something or Hunter and Jcoop might get him too.

Athletes need to prioritize their body over racing nations, Im not a Deegan fan but I think its fair to make his future more important than racing a mxon. I think you Kellen are making this a bigger deal than it needs to be, its a team decision regardless. Its a lot of money to go race and to send two riders who are recovering from injury and the other needs surgery, Deegan was honest and you can tell he wanted to go but his career does not rely on mxon. Also recovery is huge in our sport, these guys deserve a break if they want and you really have no business telling them to "get over it and race" lol

MXoN has become my favorite event of the year too. Almost pulled the trigger to go this year but ran out of time to plan it out. Super excited for this team USA, rain or shine they should be solid enough to get a podium at the very least. Pumped that Mr potato got the spot for biased reasons, but I think he’ll be absolutely fine. Netherlands seem to be the favorite to win for me in straight up power rankings (barring that Vlaanderen is not too injured) and Belgium as the dark horse. Should be a blast this year, can’t wait!

I agree with you that it's disingenuous of Star and Deegan to wait until the last round to make a decision. If his wrist was a dealbreaker then they should have withdrawn his name from consideration earlier in the season. I'm not the biggest Deegan fan, so I'm excited that someone like Hymas, who showed zero hesitation about racing MXoN despite his banged up body, is representing the U.S. I personally don't like how Deegan, who, for the last two years has been Captain America on the podium, hasn't made the effort to race in MXoN.
