    How often do you water them in the soil

    • @ConcerningGardens1821
      @ConcerningGardens1821 3 дня назад

      Hi, I water plants in the ground a couple of times a week, depending upon how much rain we get. If the plant is in a container or in the ground, the important thing is to have well draining soil. If the leaves start curling a little, it is definitely time to water. Happy gardening.

    Hello....I have had my Queens Tears for about 2 years and this past winter I got the most beautiful blooms...if there was a way to attach a photo I would....but I was so excited as I had waited so long. They are absolutely beautiful. Mine are indoors and I have them in orchid mix so this summer I thought it would be a good idea to refresh the mix. Mine are not as big as yours probably because they are indoors I guess. So when I took them out of the pot they had a pretty nice root network going on at the bottom of the pot. I took all that apart...trimmed the roots and sorted through them to see what to put back in the pot. that was the hard part for me because I knew the mama plant would eventually die off. I had one mama that was bigger than any of the others and the color was off...like a pinkish almost lavender...I wasn't sure if I should leave it out because it still had green growing around it so I put it back in the pot. I was surprised I didn't get many babies out of that. I am so glad I watched your video because I honestly thought I killed my Queens Tears...she is one of my favorites. I have trouble knowing when to water. I collect rainwater so that is what I use on all my plants. Usually with her I put the water in the middle cup of each plant and moisten the bark as well.... and then once in a while I will just dump some water over all of the plants and the bark until the water comes out of the bottom. I can't check the moisture with my water meter so I just have to guess. How do you water if they are in the house? I must have been doing something right because she gave me some beautiful blooms. I live in Northeast Ohio so Sun is something we don't get a lot of. I have her in an East facing window plus I also use grow lights as well. I have a pebble tray under her for some humidity. I used to look at her and she looked so happy but now she looks sad :( Sometimes they go through a little shock period when they have been uprooted and messed with...right? I just don't want to lose her (them collectively) ...so wanted to get your suggestions on watering. Thank You! I can't believe how big yours are...

    • @ConcerningGardens1821
      @ConcerningGardens1821 25 дней назад

      Wow, sounds like you are doing it right. And yes, they might go thru shock with repotting. You might try a weak solution of water/epsom salts to water with. About a teaspoon to a gallon of water. The Epsom salt is high in magnesium and will help with the stress. Use it after repotting. I have never grown the plants indoors, all mine are outside. Sometimes it is a little scary when the mother starts dying, but it is completely natural bromeliad trait. Bromeliads love moisture, just make sure the plants have good drainage. It looks like how you are watering is good and using rainwater is the best. Again, make sure your potting mix is very well draining. I never throw away a plant until it is completely desiccated as sometimes there will be some pups at the base. This is one of my favorite plants. Thanks for your comments and happy gardening.

I was wondering if you have any recommendations as for the size of the pot in diameter and depth. Hi and thank you, This is one of my favorite plants and the pollinators love it. I have grown these in 1 gallon pots with a small trellis before and they did well. The vine itself is lightweight and note that it will die back some in the winter unless you are in a very warm planting zone. The plant goes dormant for us in zone 9b. When in pots I have found it does best with small feedings about once a month or so while the plant has leaves, and best to keep the soil from drying completely out. Happy gardening.

    As an experienced expert, participating in mutation breeding test trial projects. Albinism is a genetic defect affecting the gene responsible for synthesising enzyme(s) responsible for the control of dark pigmentation, both naturally-occurring and synthetically-occurring, while it is harder for it to be induced synthetically on animals as they have more complex systems to prevent mutations. Yours is part-albino(specifically, pink-eyed albino) and true-albino, In plants, usually lack of flavonoids. In animals, usually a lack of tyrosinase. They may also lack other pigment production enzymes depending on the variant of the mutation. It is also possible but highly unlikely that your plant is triboluminescent, if so, indicates less mortality rate. It may be salvageable by grafting, sewing together with mycorrhizal fungi, culturing, cellular fusion, fusion of tissue, culturing, in some cases supplemental lighting, dosage of flavonoids, hydroponics, pseudo-grafting. While there are some potential newly-arosed other techniques such as growth regulator or (incomplete)chlorophyll dosage, they still remain as techniques needing evaluation. Keep in mind that growth regulator will only work for albino plants in some mediums which exclude soil, and it also depends on the brand. Apparently there are now growth regulators designed for albino plants in soil, but they do need some evaluation.

    Thanks for a really interesting and informative video. I've tried growing pomegranates from cuttings for the first time this year and now am keen to try from seed after watching this. Most pomegranates in the (Australian) supermarkets at this time of year are imported from the US, so growing some different varieties to the ones in local nurseries would be brilliant. If I may offer a suggestion; I've noticed in your last couple of videos you routinely discuss climate (in terms of the US "Zones") but you don't mention seasons at all. I think it would be helpful for international viewers, along with people watching your older videos in the future to know what time of year you are undertaking these tasks, with additional information like "after the last frost" or "before the height of Summer". I think people would find it useful to know what time of year to undertake these task, along with when projects would not be viable. Thanks again for your video!

    Thank you! I have learned that the seeds need to be fresh , I had some papaya seeds from a few months ago, and they are dry , so I will try with fresh ones 👍😄

      You can still try with the seeds - soak the seeds overnight, start them off in warm water. It never hurts to try. Tks and happy gardening.

    What do you do if there are no roots on the basil plate?

      The roots normally will grow in time. Always try, never hurts to try.

    I have never seen plantlets form while the leaves are attached to the plant on Kalanchoe pinnata. Maybe if the plant is stressed they will form, but definitely not common like other species in the Kalanchoe genus. E.g., our Kalanchoe daigremontiana is constantly pooping bulbils all over the place.

    They look fantastic! My sister gave me some from her city garden a couple of weeks ago (It's Autumn in Australia) so I've planted them in a large, low hanging basket at the entrance to my orchid grove where they get a lot of light in Winter, then dappled shade in Spring, so I'm hoping they come up looking as nice as yours. I planted some yellow freesia bulbs around the rim of the basket to provide some colour contrast, along with a lovely, inviting fragrance for the entrance.

      That sounds great. I really like using yellow accent flowers with the blue iris. Happy Gardening.
