I've seen this game played by street hustlers in the uk. The hustler always wins no matter if the shell is marked, pointed at or otherwise indicated. It is also illegal to hustle on the streets in the uk using this or any other game, e.g find the lady. Punters who gamble in these games always loose.

He slight of handed the pea into right pocket with right hand when reaching for wallet. Pea put into split walnut shell into pocket, pressed together like new walnut which had to be crushed while covered up.

It didn't fool me. There's quite a few blatant moves he does. He hides the hole behind the shell blatantly. You can see his slight if hand easily. And when he misdirects and moves his hands below the table

Not 100% sure there wasn’t sleight of hand there with breaking the walnut…if it’s in there you could let the spectator break it, but if he was truthful that’s an awesome magic trick. His showmanship was amazing as well.

Sleight of hand adding the pea under the handkerchief next to the nut. But the trick is, when he slips the pea in there, he has palmed it into what looks like a fragment of broken shell. That's what he's adding to the handkerchief next to the whole nut. He smashes the nut, and then his placement (pea in partial nut shell) is there next to half of the now-broken nut. The other half is scattered across the table, and that's very important to the trick, because then now it looks like there's approximately the right amount of broken shell. But no, he has added the section of nut that's around the pea. So when they ask him later, was it in the nut? Well, no, of course not the whole unbroken nut no - it was not in the whole nut that was put under the handkerchief. But, it was in another nut shell (so did he really lie?) its partial shell to make it look like it was part of a broken nut later when that was broken.

****Spoiler Alert****4:30 he pinches pea which is under his right index finger and pinched with his thumb. 4:37 his right hand which holds the palmed pea goes under the table with the excuse to take out a wallet, Pea is put in a hole in a 4th walnut after shifting to his left hand. 4:49 The shell is put under the cup when he takes it off the front of the table and places it over the walnut all done well and mostly while you are focused on the cups coming off for the reveal that no pea is under the shell and cups. The napkin is an excuse to drop the pea out or maybe just dropped shell and pea separately. 4:13 Teller messes up his trick by taking the concealment cup off

Here’s my guess on how he did the last trick! It’s actually really simple. At 3:44 he uses sleight of hand to take the pea. Underneath the table is a secret compartment where the nut already is, most likely in two halves and pre-glued for easy assembly. At 4:37 he hides his hands for a few seconds and puts the pea inside the nut. Then at 4:51 he moves the shot glass closer to him, and as it switches hands he places the nut underneath it.

4:14 that look was one of utter despair by Teller. In that moment he genuinely thought he'd ruined the trick by picking up the metal cup. What a lightning fast quip by Doc tho!

He’s full of it and Penn wasn’t going to drag it out on national TV. If the pea was in the shell as the man said there would be absolutely no doubt if he had cracked it open without the cover of the handkerchief. I bet you’ll never see him on the show again.
