Updating the mini lathe to rewind the armature of electric motors.
Hi there! In this video, I'm going to show you a device that I created for my desktop lathe. The goal was to make it easier and faster to rewind the electric motor armature. I added an inductive sensor and pulse counter to the lathe, which allows the motor to be turned off after a certain number of rotations. Some of the parts were printed using a 3D printer, making the process much easier for me.

    I Think 1 mistake is not soldering wires on commutator (no good connections) and second, the coils are impregnated with lacquer, not resin. and it is done in a vacuum chamber so that the varnish provides additional insulation and fix wires inside the rotor as well. Hope helps!

    good idea, good work, congratulations. But, one discussion point. The hydraulic jack is now upside down. The oil is resting by gravity on the main seal. This is usually a simple O-ring. An Oring is self-tightening ie when the pressure comes, it deforms and presses itself into the seat and then is tight. Without pressure an Oring tends to leak. So, Is this tight over long times, standing and waiting? Or sweating oil?

    • @valsworkshop
      @valsworkshop День назад

      You're right, the oil started leaking over time. I replaced the seals with others. However, it has not yet been possible to eliminate the leak by 100%. There are traces of oil on the screw, but there are no oil drops on the table even after a long time.

    • @George-in-the-forest
      @George-in-the-forest День назад

      @@valsworkshop I had a similar case long time ago. There I just wound up some layers of Teflon tape into the Oring seat to increase the diameter and thus the pretension of the O-ring. But no problem. A piece of tissue will also be enough.

    • @valsworkshop
      @valsworkshop День назад

      @@George-in-the-forest I just put a ring of the same size but with a larger cross section. It turned out to be quite tight. The leak is very small now, so I'll figure it out sometime later.

    Are you electrician? Did you change commutator brushes? My idea is: Let you try, to make commutator brush more circullar. I mean, in a point of touching brush to commutator. Make it rounded with sandpaper between comm and brush. Medium and smooth grade sandpaper. And I recommend to polish smooth flat surface of commutator too. Not a deep wages on the comm because of long spark..
