Seems like experienced truckers shift at lower rpm than newbs. Sounds awesome!
Cat 3406s were meant to get down and PULL. They have more torque compared to contemporary big cam ratings, which typically cruise at higher rpms as they rely more on horsepower.
Them 3406s don’t like RPM too much

The Peterbilt 300 series is probably the most iconic truck of all time, regardless of class. It's DEFINITELY my favorite, although I think I'd go for a 1992/1999 model, (or Post '99 Glider Kit Truck) with a CAT 3406 series for the power and pure sound. C-15 is great...but I'm partial to the 3406b in particular, with the cruise control upgrade, of course. That said, if I had unlimited money...well, that'd be a little different story. 😅

Late reply, sorry. Simplot Blvd, Caldwell, Idaho. Just off of I-84, about 27 miles west of Boise. Northwestern trucks are mostly unrestricted in terms of axle combinations and things of the sort. I personally pull 40’ 20’ fuel tanks
