Thank You! Rick is great! I could listen to him all day long.
If you're a Rick Danko fan you have to see him singing with Janice Joplin on festival express!
Love for Rick.
So very beautiful. Rick had that warm and fuzzy feeling in his voice that spoke to you on so many levels. After so many years, we still miss him very much.
Como eu ainda amo The Band!!!!!! Fui ver o filme The Last Waltz no cinema no comecinho dos anos 70 e ateh hoje me lembro da emocao!!!!! Anos depois comprei o DVD!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Also thankyou for all the pictures
Rick was the best. His voice was unique and awesome. Thankyou for all your awesome songs
one of my favorite vocalists of all time
One of a kind with a unique voice.
My claim to fame is that I had my photograph taken with someone who had their photograph taken with rick danko, Dave pegg, no mean musician himself.
Wonderful tribute, down home Ontario style
I knew rick back in toronto in the middle 60s.we dated for awhile.of course I knew the whole band when I worked for Ronnie Hawkins Go Go dancing.rick had a gentleness about him and was very trusting.i moved to tulsa okla afte I quite the dancing with ronnie at the le coq dor when they joined bob dylan 😢😢
Thanks for the story,I loved it,I grew up in Norfolk County, not too far from greens corners, where Rick grew up,I knew his brother Junior Danko,he had race horses
For me, Rick WAS the frontman for The Band. I loved watching him and he loved preforming. ❤✌
What a wonderful tribute.
SO soulful,up with the very best!!
I haven’t heard the cause of Rick Danko’s death, which was at a relatively young age. Could someone politely respond to my inquiry?
Rick died of heart failure in his sleep. He was in a bad car accident in 1968 and apparently was in constant pain for the rest of his life. So he gravitated to alcohol, drugs and likely pain killers for relief. Maybe that was what ended his life far too soon.
He also started to gain a lot of weigth in the nineties, especially mid nineties until his dead. Too bad, he was such a talent, love his voice, personality, and even into the mid eighties he was very good looking as well, plus plenty of charisma.@@michaelstone446
In the nineties, he also gained a lot of weigth, and yes he had a problem with heroin, I suspect because of the pain.@@michaelstone446
one of the all time greatest!
Love this, Rick was so good , always a good time beautiful tenor voice and and exquisite musician
Wonderful tribute to Rick, he is still loved by many. Rip Rick Danko!

Have always loved Ricky's voice and masterful bass playing, since '68's "Music From Big Pink. Miss this good ol' country boy... RIP, with Levon up in Woodstock Cemetery.
Always haved loved Rick's wonderful voice (since "Big Pink", 1968) and his great bass playing. Miss this good ol' country boy... RIP, Ricky up in Woodstock with Levon.
I miss this voice that could produce such a beautiful, emotional sound. Rick, you did it so well. Dennis Cunningham
Sublime. Thanks for the music great man.
Just so bloody beautiful.
Who else sings like Rick? And the harmonies make this a top version.
Thanks M this was nice. I love Rick Danko
Another talent who left this life too soon. From Music from Big Pink to Eternity. We loved the music you made. RIP
"For ever young forever loved" . thats nice
Wonderful memories ,Looks about 1970 or 69
Never heard this song before, how beautiful
Beautiful tribute, Ron. You picked a good soundtrack and fine images to commemorate an artist loved by just about anyone who comes across this post. There have been many great artists who performed on bass, but I see that wasn't Danko's only instrument. Only a slim few were as soulful as Rick Danko, but I guess he just felt too much, and maybe died too young because of that, "just standin' up there to give it all his might".
I knew Rick he was a gentle man I miss him
Miss you old buddy... Rest in Peace Ricky...
Rick was great, incredible musician and singer. However he seemed to be a shy person, small town guy, and attention made him anxious. Despite that apparent inhibition he pushed forward and landed in our hearts for all time with his music.
Oh I believe he was actually extroverted.
Rick was not shy... just a bit introverted. Once you got to know him and to talking to him he was indeed an extrovert and loved to talk to people... Miss him. A great guy and a talented musician with a wonderful soul.
And this is still just bloody beautiful. I think he may be the coolest man ever in the music business…
Such a soulful singer and musician. The coolest man in music for a while back there.❤
Southwestern Ontario's son I think!
Wish I could have met him 😪
I saw The Band several times in New York City during the early 1970's. I still to this day, love Rick Danko.
I heard and saw Levon with The Kate Bros in the Calgary Library Theater 1980ish. Smallish place, sounded great. That's all I saw live any of the band but they are always my favorite. The girl I was with is long long gone but not The Band.
I Miss Rick ...
Amazing
My brother and I were young 20 and 22 just starting to play out full time and our agent called and asked if we wanted to open for Rick Danko. We were over the top excited went to the gig was warming up in the basement dressing room when Rick walked in and joined in singing with us. I don't remember being that excited up to that point in my life. He then offered to close our set with us and come out for the crazy Chester verse of the Weight. He looked at me and said" you do the levon verses and I'll come out on Crazy Chester" and he did and proceeded to later call my brother up to play harp on crazy mama. What an incredible night for us youngsters. A year later our agent called and said that Rick had requested us to open for him again. And again he played with us we played with him. We smoked one after the show and gave us his address in Malibu told us that pennebaker owed him a movie and wanted us to be as acoustic act. It never happened, but just the thought that it could have was a wonderful memory. He was a sweet deep soul. Very kind and as we all know a great talent and artist. Rip Ricky
What an amazing & kind person he seemed. No airs or graces. He had a wonderful voice. RIP Rick ⚘
RIP Rick, Richard & Levon
I always thought he was native American, but apparently he was Ukrainian.
Canadian
@@marymarysmarket3508 Yes he was from Canada, but he was Ukrainian descent.
Robbie Robertson was one half native Canadian on his mother's side and Jewish from his father side. A father whom he never knew, he died before Robbie was born.
I miss this humble man.
Wonderful person like an angel accidentally fell on the earth to give people joy and love.
Beautiful tribute to a beautiful man. Thanks for posting!
Thanks for the post, Rick was a wonderful person and we miss him. Thanks
Amazing talent, RIP!
