Inktober Tangles 2024 will be starting on October 1st, so I've decided to prepare a calendar style page where I can add each tangle daily. I recently found my copy of Joanne Fink's Zenspirations: Letters and Patterning, and it inspired me to create the title for my page. I hope you enjoy my video! Tangle Tuesday Ep: 1
Просмотров 104Месяц назад
It's been a long while since I uploaded a video! Many of you know that drawing has always been a passion of mine (aside from book binding). In November, I will be taking the Zentangle seminar to become a CZT. So whilst, at the time of recording this video, I am not certified to teach Zentangle, I wanted to show you a process of one of my drawings. This is Tangle Tuesday Ep 1! I hope to bring yo...
Creating a 1:6 Scale Pencil Box
Просмотров 1959 месяцев назад
Having recently become interested in creating miniatures, I wanted to try my hand at making a little pencil box. I quickly discovered 1:12 scale was a bit too small, so I made this little 1:6 scale one instead. I've not made this before! What you're seeing is me just winging it!

After a few months hiatus on creating handmade books, I am getting into the swing of things by uploading a short video today on creating Mini Pamphlet Stitch books.
Diamond Mandala

Join me in a new mandala creation! This was filmed a few weeks ago now, but we had no internet, so I could only upload it now.
Seven Day Mandala
Просмотров 70Год назад
Recently I gave myself a challenge to draw a mandala over a 7 day period called #7daymandala, drawing one layer of the mandala each day. As this was an Instagram challenge, each day was limited to a 90 second reel. I have linked each video together for you so you can see the week in its entirety. I hope you enjoy it!

Love youe tutorial but the music is awful . Had to turn off the sound :(
@@Swedmotherlife Thank you.
So very cute thank you for sharing ❤❤
@@janicewilliams8331 Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Beautiful!!! Glad I found you!! <3
@@jenniferdowns9 Thank you so much Jennifer! 🥰
Just happened on your video. Lovely makes! Just one question: why do you start with such long strips if you're going to cut out most of it?
@@jacquelinerobert3648 Thank you! I like to have more than less and it makes it easier to tear off the excess when there’s more to grip. Most times I use those tear off pieces for book pages in further projects. I don’t waste my leftovers 😉
Absolutely stunning.
@@rosemarypedder5180 Thank you so much!
Beautiful journal ❤❤❤ What is the measurement for the leather?
@@purenatures4755 Thank you! I can’t remember if it mentioned in the video or not. This one was around 21cm x 45-50cm and then trimmed down according to the size of the signatures. So this finished up being about 20x44cm. You can create your book any size you like though.
@@AlisonRussellArt thank u for sharing. Also how thick was the leather piece and can u recommend a shop? I’m in Australia too. Also, really miss your videos ❤️❤️❤️
@@purenatures4755 I can’t seem to find the link for the same leather I bought, but I’m pretty sure it’s this one: amzn.asia/d/aSMsrQ3 I got it on Amazon AU and it’s 2mm thick. I have just uploaded a new video but it’s a drawing one. I haven’t done much book binding for a little while but I’m sure I’ll be back into it again soon.
C'est superbe! Bravo! 🥰😀🤩
@@cathyart-mandala Thank you! 🥰
Your mini book is as cute as can be and very well-made. The video instructions are first rate, but that music was gonna make my brain bleed. I eventually muted the sound to prevent a stroke. It worked well enough. Thanks! I’ll check out your other videos. 💜💜💜
@@maramakesjournals2319 Thanks for the feedback. Everyone hates the music but I’m glad the instructions go down well!
@@AlisonRussellArt 💜💜💜 Yes, the instructions are excellent.
What a wonderful project. Cute as can be!
@@JMPaglio Thank you so much!
Pretty useful, does the machine work on carboard too?
It comes as a kit so everything you need is provided but you can buy extra supplies should you need them. Using cardboard as a printed insert might be too thick so paper would be best.
Oh, the music was quite distracting. Had to turn off the volume and turn on the closed captions. But anyway thank you for sharing this. It is incredibly adorable.
Thank you Sherry.
Yes, I do recognize the part that sth isn't totally right..anoying.. you made it work. Beautiful colours, nice touch with the flags and fold. A dangle would work! Thanks for showing us. Hope to see the zine again once you worked further on it. Greets from the Netherlands, Trudy
Hi Trudy! Thank you so much for your lovely comment! 🥰
This is a button, not a sewable badge
Thank you ☺️ I never stated that it was a sewable badge. In Australia, we call pins or buttons, badges.
What did youn se to make the corners Round? It looks so easy! Beautiful little booklet! Sure I can do it!
Thank you! I used a corner punch to round the corners. You can buy them from most craft stores.
Great video! I also prefer them without a background music! :)
Thank you! I will endeavour to make some changes in future videos.
😊 They Are the cute Bookies.
Cute bookies are fun ☺️
thank you i just watched your tiny book video ,these are beautiful ,i hope to try this
Thank you so much Gina!

🥰
Aaaah bloody stupid music spoilt that for me 👎
Sorry to hear that. ☹️
Best tutorial 👌 ❤thank you😊
Thank you so much! 😊
going to try looks great your video was good
Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy! Feel free to tag me in your socials if you make one so I can see it!
what was the string you used the green on the book looks fantastic
Thank you so much! I used waxed embroidery thread for all of these books.
I made three sets of Xs, long ones in the middle. It definitely gets easier, less fiddly after the first set is SET! So lovely and stable when it's all together. Thanks for sharing your skills and tips!
Three sounds exciting! I’m so glad you gave this project a go! 💫 And yes, it does get easier after your first set is secure. The rest tightens up as you go.
Adorable! Thank you!
Thank you! 🥰
WOW What a SWEET Book !!!!!!
Thank you so much! 😊
Thank you I really must try this.
You’re welcome! I hope you enjoy creating one. Feel free to tag me @alisonrussellart on your social media if you make one! 💫
Very beautifully done, it looks so professional!
Can you PLEASE MAKE A VIDEO ON HOW TO MAKE THESE??
I love this, well , anything mini!
I would love to see this done in rainbow colors!
I must do that! I haven’t made one of these for a while! 🌈
Very beautifully done! Thank you
Thank you!
Beautiful, thank you so very much!
Thank you! I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Nice video…except the background music is not good with my tinnitus. No music is best (plus, if viewers happen to have their own music playing, it doesn’t conflict). ;-)
Thank you for the feedback. I know the music isn’t great. The program I use only has a limited amount of royalty free music. I am currently trying to learn a new program and download some nicer music. 😊
Music over speech on tutorial videos is just really annoying and unnecessary. I wouldn’t bother looking for better music - just work without completely! Nice video though, thank you
@@handiann Thank you. I’ll take all the advice on board for future videos 😊
I agree. My favorite videos are those without music.

Beautiful books and inspiring. Thank you for sharing. ❤❤❤
Thank you so much! 🥰♥️
This is really fabulous. I love the stitching pattern.
Thank you! I love long stitch variations. 🥰
Wow, this came out so good! I’ve used long stitch for this type of journal but I love how you linked the signatures together with the Xs and it looks so nice on the outside. Could you tell me about the hardware you attached? Have not seen that before. Thanks for the inspiration❤
Thank you so much! I like to try different long stitch variations. It took me a while to figure out how to do this after I saw a picture of it but it’s very easy. The closure is a ball head stud. Comes in two pieces and screws together. ✨ CRAFTMEmore 6MM Ball Head Stud... www.amazon.com.au/dp/B077SBBP8S?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
Thank you! You are teaching me about so many fun craft supplies😊
As a fellow junk journaler, I wanted to tell you these are absolutely adorable!
Thank you so much Pam! 🥰
Those are a great way to use up scraps! Where do you get the decorative tape from?
Exactly why I hoard all of my scraps! 😂 The tape is from a shop called Daiso. It’s difficult to come by, but here’s a link to one I found on eBay. It’s called Printing Cloth Tape. www.ebay.com.au/itm/373825194934?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=705-154756-20017-0&ssspo=xtwwfe7vqj6&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=KW6r1HnJQv-&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Beautiful work !
Thank you so much!
How beautiful is the process and the result, thank you!
Thank you! I am currently starting a new round of cards, so I may pop a video up again sometime in the near future hopefully!
Lovely! 🙂
Thank you! 😊
Awesome
Thank you 😊
Thanks for being so descriptive with measurements and with how you made the cover. I was wondering how you did and then you mentioned it! Can’t wait to try this as I already have all of the supplies.
Thank you for your lovely comment! I hope you have fun creating this little journal. Please tag me @alisonrussellart if you post it on your social media. I’d love to see what you make! 🥰
thank you !
You’re welcome! 🥰
I really liked Day 6! You are so steady and exact! Simply beautiful!
Thank you so much Charlotte! 🥰
So colourful 📚📚📚💖😸 I have ideas floating in my head now for boxes... Especially the dinky little matchbox book!
That’s awesome! You’ll start looking at items with a new perspective on how can you turn it into a book 😉📖📚
Sooooo to y and cute 😊 I've never made books so weeny but I'm going to now 📚📚📚
They’re very addictive! Once you start, you won’t be able to stop! Have fun creating! 📒✨
