Canal Adventure - Grand Union to the Coventry Canal

This video shows parts of the journey up the Grand Union Canal into the Coventry Basin and back. Such a peaceful way to travel and enjoy the scenery from a unique perspective. We would hope this breif look will give others the desire to try their hand at taking to the canals in a narrow boat!

You would have been too focused on keeping on that road, Steve, to have noticed that you passed Hardknott Roman Fort which is slightly to the right in "the field" on that side of the road (see the plaque at 11:43). Given the remoteness of that location, it's not hard to see why the exposed stone foundations of the walls and buildings are in such good nick ... and seeing that weather, you can't help but think how tough it must have been for the soldiers posted there(!). 😄

Still deciding which bike to take up there, Rebel 1100 has the power but is heavy or the Super Cub 125 which I have been up Applecross pass with a couple of years ago it was so light I could just throw it around hazards and squeeze past oncoming traffic on most single track roads on the NC500. At the moment the 125 is winning and with my new trailer I can trail it to the campsite from Rading then enjoy the passes before continuing on to Lanark for the second week.

well done. i went over this in 1981 on an yam xs250 with duff shocks and a 19 year old pregnant wife on pillion. with hindsight. i wouldn't do it with the same conditions now.

That road is in an awful state, some of those potholes are bike damaging, looks a lot worse then 4 years ago when we rode it. Suppose it’s a never ending job repairing with all the different weather conditions though. Credit to you guys for doing it in all that rain, nice bikes.

Thanks for sharing another great video, Steve. Wow, what a pretty ride. Taking in this scenery on a bike had to be special. In my younger days when I had a bike, I always sought out the most scenic rides in my area. You get a whole new appreciation for it when you're in the open air as opposed to riding in a car or truck. Call me crazy for doing it without a helmet (unless I was in town, around a lot of cars), but I kept my head on a swivel and never dropped my bike. Absolutely loved the experiences. Stay safe. ✌️

Definitely one of the better films on RUclips. Nicely ridden. No silly speeds ,well spaced and when you can see the front rider thirty feet up but only a bend and a half ahead the gradient is pretty apparent. Did it on a 650 trumpet in 1982. Bout time I did it again!

Did it in May on my Kawasaki GTR 1400 on a trip from Northern Ireland... It can be tight and challenging in parts.. Shame about the weather you got.. And yes the camera definitely doesn't show just how steep it is in places..

Done it by car and 4x4 several times - and once in a 1967 Transit camper, which performed very well, but tended to pick up the inner rear wheel on the steepest, sharpest corners. This makes me want to go back!

  • @neilmackinnon3371

You certainly chose and 'interesting' day to ride it, but at least the traffic was minimal. I rode the passes in the opposite direction in May. It was nice and dry but over the Hardknott the combination of some traffic that didn't understand that most motorcycles have neither reverse gear or hand brakes and the really poor road surfaces in places made it a bit of an 'experience'... and not one I wish to repeat any time soon. The Wrynose was a blast.

Aerial Filming - The New Standard How do you show the full potential of your properties, maybe there's a tennis court, swimming pool, stables, annex, paddocks! It would be pretty much impossible to show all these effectively using just still images, so a combination of a short video along with some stills images is surely the best way to showcase these properties. It may also have many acres of land, so to show how the property fits into it's environment will also enhance it's appeal. The problems occur when inexperienced companies that don't have the necessary qualifications to fly drones on a commercial basis. They do their work on the cheap, and incidentally illegally, which in the event of problems the client would also find themselves liable for any issues that may arise! SKM have been capturing aerial views of properties and events for 10 years now and currently hold a CAA license to fly drones commercially and as such are fully insured giving our clients peace of mind! In fact we were among the first in the country to be awarded the new CAA license when it became obligatory!
