    I've wanted a Waterman for a while now. This one may go on the list. It seemed effortless to write with. Unfortunately, I'm not too fond of standard blue ink and I think it did a disservice to your drawing. If the ink was darker like the black, dark green, or brown ink you sometimes use, then I think the contrast would make it pop a little more. I did like the drawing overall. Nice work!

    The pen isn't my favorite but I'm just so picky. 😂 That carbon ink is my favorite black ink for my fountain pens. Some people have claimed that they have problems with it but I've never had a days trouble with it and sometimes I leave it a pen I haven't touched in months. I feel bad for the sad monster you drew but I do like the subtle use of color mixed in. Nice work! 👍

    • @eugenborcan
      @eugenborcan 18 дней назад

      Yep, Platinum Carbon ink is pretty good stuff and as close as it can get to permanent. The only problem I had is that it tends to stain a little pens that are lighter in color and they are made out of resin. Other than that, no issues with it on this side either. Don't feel bad about the little guy - he (she!?) is actually quite happy - had one too many beers before "the portrait" was taken . Thanks Pete!

  • @RJayRoberts
    @RJayRoberts 18 дней назад

    Looks like a nice pen. I'm not particularly fond of hooded nibs as ink can get stuck there, but perhaps less an issue if filling the converter with a syringe or using cartridges.

    • @eugenborcan
      @eugenborcan 18 дней назад

      I thought about it for a little and realized that maybe even in that case - when you have ink between nib and inside of the hood - is not a big issue. That hood will act as a basic overfeed... and the nib will "consume" the ink. Worth the try maybe... overall though, definitely not a bad fountain pen.

    to take out the nib and feed of the Montblanc 320 just grab the sides of the nib and push gently inward. I have the Montblanc 220 (piston filler) and 221P (cartridge). The weak part of this fountain pen is the turning knob of the piston fillers and the clear plastic part that the nib and barrels screws on to. If you can make a 3D printed clear plastic part for the 220, 221,320, etc. you can have a small business, there's a lot of people looking for this clear plastic part because this part usually breaks at the threads and it's almost impossible to repair. Mine were bought second hand and the 221P came with a cracked in the nib section threads, I had to repair it usual pure cyanoacrylate, but it may break again.

    Thanks for a great look at the pen, and nice drawing. I got my Royal Selangor in 2005, with a stub nib (so better for calligraphy than for sketching). One difference I noticed between your pen and mine is in the shape of the section: mine is more hourglass-shaped (negative curvature) than yours. Given that Sheaffer didn't produce these pens for very long, I find that curious.

      @@eugenborcan I've been using the pen lately, after a long hiatus. I really love the look when it's unposted; the nib is beautiful and the proportions are just right. In that regard, it's very similar to the unposted Pelikan M600. I find the cap a little too chunky though: when capped, the RS is longer than a capped M800, while narrower in the barrel.

    • @eugenborcan

      Glad you enjoyed it. I believe I already make some mentions to what you recommend. Yes, a thicker ink will work but India ink will still be problematic. You can leave the cap off, but that will not really thicken the ink... the ink will start drying out and start "clogging" the pen reducing the ink flow.

    I wanted to love the sonnet. It is just too small for my liking, granted my experiences were with many of the chinese clones... but still. Weirdly enough smaller pens like jinhao 82, admok 400, or even the pilot prera feels better in the hand that the sonnet shape. So i suspect is a mismatch of hand to pen shape. The parker ink has a nice color. Edit: if you do want to branch out of FPs (for more subs) I think most who watch FP videos care more about rating the pen, measuring them and comparing them with similar pens and clickbaity/memey titles (as you do not show your face, I remember reading somewhere people like faces on youtubers more than faceless ones). Perhaps it is the format of presentation for more viewers. Or easy to entry titles like, Top 5 beginner. Top 10 intermediate. Only acquired tasted FPs. And so on a video within 15 minutes or what have you. Or top 3 long term pens, reliable FP I cannot live without as an artist. It is 'shallow' in that sense, but pretty sure those videos do well to let others stumble to your channel. Again, I like your content, so regardless of how you take your channel, I'll still check in. Along for the ride. Edit 2: Also also while I am at it. For your BE pens, you may consider sending review copies to bigger channels like Inkquiring, doodlebud, or whoever is willing to review. Something like Eugen Borcan's BE6. And accept orders through some website which has colors and pricing/options listed? I am overstepping my bounds here, so I apologize if this seems preachy.

    • @eugenborcan
      @eugenborcan Месяц назад

      I guess the Sonnet is like every other fountain pen - some will fit them some will not - and both sides are perfectly normal :). I had experience with the clones and I liked them so that is what pushed me to get one. And I ended up liking it. You are NOT overstepping any boundaries. I truly appreciate the suggestions :). I'm just a very odd person... The thing with me is... I really do not like the baiting content type thing and I am more focused on presenting what it is to present and move on. I think that if someone is interested in hearing something about a fountain pen that they are interested in, they are more interested in seeing the fountain pen rather than my face. And when I am doing my silly scribbles I would assume they are interested in the process than my face... If they do not like any of that, my face won't make them like my content any better :D - at least that is what I think. Plus, I am kind of shy in front of the camera and after I had a few people making fun of me, I even decided to remove my picture from the channel. I did not start this channel to be famous or gain popularity or anything like that. I would probably be happy with making these videos even if I would have no subscribers. Not that I am not grateful for those that decided to subscribe - I am extremely grateful and surprised that there were people who decided to subscribe to me. There are 3 reasons I have started this channel: 1 - I am in introvert. This is forcing me to "interact" and put myself out there. 2 - Forcing myself to go back into drawing and use all the fountain pens that I gather 3 - I have kids... will be nice to leave something behind when I am not around anymore... probably silly... but somehow important to me. As for my fountain pens - I will not be able to supply a lot of them since is not my main job. Is more of a hobby that I occasionally get some money out of. And I am OK with that for now. As a funny fact, I think I gifted more fountain pens that I have sold so far :D. I appreciate the suggestions, don't misunderstand me please!! And I appreciate you!

I also have a pencil holder that holds 5 or 6 colored leads. Im glad they came out with them. The drawing developed nicely. 👍🏻

      Yeah, the Noodler's Polar Black is a difficult ink - personally I avoid it. Unfortunately while Noodler's has some interesting inks, they aren't very consistent. The fountain pen could be fixed with some extensive flushing and maybe even some sessions in the ultrasonic - but you will have to take the nib and feed apart.

      @@eugenborcan It's a shame, the polar black is such a wonderful shade of black. I occasionally use it in a brush pen to fill in large areas and it looks very flat, which I like.

    • @eugenborcan
      @eugenborcan Месяц назад

      I think the brush is just perfect for that ink - and probably dip pens as well! I do like a lot of the Noodler's ink, but after I had a few issues with some of his inks (staining, clogging), I decided to not use them - at least not in fountain pens.

    Almost gave me a heart attack when you balanced it the first time and it almost fell nib first. lol These are still on sale for $25-30 through our local online store. Only want to get one because they're no longer being made, same with the 700. I already have all the nib sizes though and I've already quit buying more pens.

    Pen looks lovely, if only the red one isn't that bright (scarlet?) I would get all of them :D Btw, have you seen hongdian's new ink bottle? It looks like a crystal and more perfume bottle take on the waterman bottles, truly beautiful to hold and look when one has it in their hands.

    • @eugenborcan
      @eugenborcan 2 месяца назад

      I'm not sure if that red is on the bright side - might depend a lot on how the pictures were taken? Unless you had the chance to hold one and see it in person. To my eyes the red seems to be more on the darker side - but I could be wrong. I'm only looking at pictures as well :). I did see they have 2 other bottles. The crystal type but they also have the one with a pen rest integrated - like Herbin ones - interesting :). Did you got a chance to get them?

    • @unknowncrash1
      @unknowncrash1 Месяц назад

      @@eugenborcan the pen rest one I did not get. I don't really need/want it at this moment in time? But yes, truly amazing that we are able to get these fancy bottles and pens for a fraction of the cost if we had gotten it from the big brands. Truly the fountain pen golden age.
