Hi, I just bought Photoshop Elements 2024 and most of the dropdowns are in gray. And when I bring up Guided, there is no elive or photomerge. Do I need to do something to bring all this up? Or am I forced into buying the upgrade 2024 as well?

I am sorry but this method is very unproductive, misleading and painful to watch that I had to post a comment albeit neagative. You are using PSE v2022 which has Select > Subject as a Menu feature. Simply select this option and PSE will automatically identify the subject, the girl, and make a perfect selection around her in about 4 seconds flat instead of your 12 mins+ with the method promoted here - no Wacom tablet needed. I just done it with a screen shot of your photo. Once selected, as I say in about 4 secs, simply add a Layer Mask to hide her original background then add in your new background or solid colour. Incidentally the Tool you were using is the `Selection Brush' which manually selects/deselects pixels (Add or Subtract Modes) it is not a Masking Brush. Masking is a completely different feature in PSE, you are just making an initial Selection of the girl before you add a Layer Mask. .

Hi, I Recently purchased Photoshop Elements 2024 (Windows 10) and found that I couldn’t download raw photos from a card reader. I tried everything to correct the issue without success until I came across your excellent video on how to solve the problem. I bought it here in the UK a few weeks ago. Amazon stated that it was a download and just gave you a code to give Adobe . There was nothing physical involved. Actually if there was I wouldn't have been able to use it because I no longer have a computer with a DVD player.

A couple of suggestions: Make a copy of the background layer before making destructive edits. (command j or control j) Keep the isolated motorcycle on a separate layer at the top of the final layer stack or the edges of the motorcycle will be blurred. On the layer with the trees and the pavement, use a linear gradient to create a realistic depth of field. One last thing, the video could have been a mere 5 minutes long. No offense intended. Thanks for the instructions. 🙂

However, could you please adjust the sound, as I find it impossible to hear some of your commentary, and find that I'm suddenly lost about what you are actually doing. I also find it difficult to see some of the items you are 'clicking' on, so, putting the two together makes it really hard to follow, when the subject is 'gold' for me. Hope this helps, and I'll keep trying further tutorials. Chris, Lincoln, England.

@@PhotoshopElementsTV Thanks for the reply and advice. I'm just returning to photography since my days of pre-digital (I'm now 75 years young!), when 'post-production' meant sending rolls of film to the chemist or developer. Consequently, I invested in 2021 to get ready for my returning hobby and 'new technology', but didn't really do anything with it. I think I need to get used to the things my existing Elements can do before investing further into the hobby (which is already getting expensive before I really start). I'll continue to learn from you, and then think about further upgrades. Thanks again, it's conveyed to memory for 'whenever'. Chris

Not sure if you know but if you have Adobe creative cloud, you can get raw updates for PSE 2024. You just need to move the new file from cc to elements 2024 plug-in folder.

I'm attempting to learn about geolocating from a photo. In some photos there are elements (pun?) that would just interfere with the image, and should be pixelated out, so an online search for the image doesn't include what you don't want. In other words, let's say that I'd like to locate where a photo was created, but there's a bus or something in the image that I don't want searched online sources to include, so I'd want to pixelate it out of the image in front of me. Would this fine video of "removing distractions" work the same way as pixelating out parts of an image, so that one can find the original scene, eventually? OR - if this wouldn't work, would you PLEASE create a YT video how to pixelate an image (I've Photoshop Elements 15, BTW)? Many thanks! - from a new sub -

Thank you for showing where quick mask is. I used that in an old copy of Photoshop and I was completely lost finding it in Elements. I have a question...slightly outside of elements directly. I downloaded a copy of Camera Raw (for Elements 2023) which I am familiar with having used Camera Raw with the old photoshop. I have seen many references to selections and masks in Raw but my copy does not show a place to select anything. Am I missing something or is the Camera Raw for Elements stinted in some way. I would love to be able to use the tools in Raw to adjust portions of my image not just the whole image. Any help would be appreciated.
