I'm quite late to finding the channel. DEG has a knack for being undefineable and blending genres. If you want a peak at their more VK stuff you'd want to check out the likes of Garden, Yokan, Raison d'etre, or Yurameki. Heavy and crazy with impactful imagery? Go check out Uroko, Ningen wo Kaburo, The Devil in Me, or The Perfume of Sins music videos. Heavy stuff, the reworked live of Obscure. Great imagery and Heavy with unexpected vocals? Rinkaku music video. Unexpected prog? Karasu live. Iconic tracks include Saku and The Final.. They've got over 25 years of material to dig through with all sorts of surprises. Definitely worth coming back to over and over and over. Kyi, the vocalist. Has 2 other bands worth checking out. Sukekiyo which is the most artistic experimental metal band you may watch/listen to, and Petit Brabancon which calls back to 00s nu-metal in the best of ways. All 3 bands are active and actively touring at the same time. Man is a creative savant

In regards to his lyrics, Kyo has said in interviews before that he wants to show humanity how messed up they are. Whether it be war, bombs dropping, nations testing chemicals on each other... Or even the more interpersonal elements like causing harm and isolation to those different from you. He approaches his writing in a very visceral, yet poetic way.

"They all kinda do their own thing" You have no idea. That's basically the ethos of the band. They literally don't talk to one another, even in studio. All of their songs go through multiple iterations before being finalized because they're all clashing against one another, sometimes they release that stuff too. Dead serious though, this band has been together for three decades and none of the members even know one another's last names, their phone numbers, or where they live. The whole thing is absolutely wild.

I really enjoy the vibe of Adderall. When the track really kicks in right before the vocals, it's like when the weed really hits and you go on a journey. It's a very melancholic track, but still makes me feel warm lol. I totally agree with the Gorillaz comment.

Great reaction, thank you! I love that you touched upon the lyrics, I always love to hear other peoples' interpretations of the message And I'm glad you enjoyed it :) My recommendation can repeat others but I will name two songs. If you will be in a sentimental mood, the slower Namamekashiki ansoku, tamerai ni hohoemi is a great choice to go with. I find it to be one of my favorite ballads of all time. If you want to continue with more complex, almost act-like music, then The World of Mercy is to look for. I will say it's not an easy one to digest but very rewarding for those who try and listen to it openmindedly I will also humbly leave a request for my favorite j-rock band that I've been listening to for more than a decade. I think it might be up your alley. The Gazette - Ominous is translated by Kaya and you can enjoy both amazing live performance and the lyrics. They are written by their vocalist Ruki and I love them

Schadenfreude is their most similar song to Diabolos and Vinushka (still different but in terms of progressing between phases in a 10 minute song they're similar) but the performance from the live is spot on and the lyrics really tap into the philosophical stuff @inscription seemed to enjoy here. The lyrics on Phalaris in general I think are really good at that.

This is theater. The use of props and symbologies are merely part of the story telling, there is no dark meaning. In the performance is symbolizes the metamorphosis of the Pop Idol Suzuka into the metal queen Su-metal; nothing more. Shintoism and Buddhism are the most prominent religions in Japan, thus the cross and sacrifice have not specific meaning. Of course, they were conscious of the impact it would have. Never understand why Cristians believe any use of the cross is sacrilegious and depitinon of a cruficiation blasphamy; attributing it to satanic ritual. It was a method of torture and killing for at least two millieum.

Translation to the opening monologue:- メタルの魂を守るため 自らの命と引き換えに戦った In order to defend the soul of the Metal, in exchange for her own life, Su-Metal fought. やがて SU-METALの魂は 紅の炎となり Before long, SU-METAL's soul became the crimson flame 天空を紅く染めたのであった and dyed the sky crimson. だが 遠くの星が消えゆくように However, as the distant stars go out, 命の終焉はこの世の理なのだ the end of life is the law of nature. 今紅き月がSU-METALと共に燃えゆく• • • Now the crimson moon is burning out with SU-METAL. Often used for opening up every BABYMETAL Concert, now they switch to Metal Galaxy "In The Name Of" on special occasion. Death Legend 1997 Apocalypse:- Legend 1997 Apocalypse is a concert celebrating Su-Metal aka Suzuka Nakamoto 16th Birthday 🎉(Seitansai) which took place in Makuhari Messe in Chiba prefecture. Metallic Fans will notice the opening riffs which derived from Metallica song "ONE" which pays homage to Metallica. Live:- Death Legend 1999 & 1997 Apocalypse (stylized as LIVE~LEGEND 1999&1997 APOCALYPSE) is the second live video release by the Japanese heavy metal band Babymetal. The album contains live footage of two shows, entitled Legend "1999" and Legend "1997" (named after birth years of the members of Babymetal), performed in Japan in 2013. It was released in 2-disc DVD and Blu-ray formats on October 29, 2014. Live: Legend 1999 & 1997 Apocalypse:, Released: October 29, 2014. Recorded: June 30, 2013 (Legend "1999"). December 21, 2013 (Legend"1997"). Venue: NHK Hall (Legend "1999"). Makuhari Messe (Legend "1997"). Genre: Kawaii metal, J-pop, heavy metal. Length: 75:28 (Legend "1999") 82:24 (Legend "1997") Label: BMD Fox Toy's Factory Amuse Director: InniVision Producer: Kobametal Babymetal video chronology Live:, Legend I, D, Z Apocalypse (2013). Live: Legend 1999 & 1997 Apocalypse (2014). Live at Budokan: Red Night & Black Night Apocalypse (2015). The Destruction Of The Statue is similar to Metallica Justice for All live concert in Mexico City, Mexico 🇲🇽. The Japanese word "desu" (です) is a copula (= to be). The Eastern Japanese almost drop "u" of this word, so the word "desu/des" sounds like "death". And someone started writing "DEATH" instead of "です" (desu). It makes sense only where the Japanese word "desu" is expected to come. The title "BABYMETAL DEATH" means only "We are BABYMETAL." No relation to the death itself. I'm not sure of its origin, but I saw long before such a character as a vampire or a death metal singer in a comic and all his "です" (desu) were replaced with "DEATH" to emphasize his character. With such an air, it works well. Without such an air, it probably doesn't work. There is a genre named "Death Metal". The sound of this tune seems to fall within that genre, and the lyric writer may have put many "DEATH"s to emphasize the Death-Metal-ness. It might be alright to use many "DEATH"s without thinking of death if some of Death Metal bands also chose their style just to differentiate themselves rather than driven by the feeling about death. But I don't know the Death Metal well. MAKUHARI MESSE:- Makuhari Messe (幕張メッセ) is a Japanese convention center outside Tokyo, located in the Mihama-ku ward of Chiba city, in the northwest corner of Chiba prefecture. Designed by Fumihiko Maki, it is accessible by Tokyo's commuter rail system. Makuhari is the name of the area, and Messe is a German language word meaning "trade fair". •Owner: Makuhari Messe, Inc. •Opened: 9 October 1989. •Expanded: October 1997. •Classroom-style seating: 304 (International Conference Room). •Banquet/ballroom: 1,600 (Convention Hall). •Theatre seating: 7,860 (Makuhari Event Hall). Makuhari Messe is close to Tokyo Disney Resort in Urayasu, and to Chiba prefecture's black sand beaches. It is accessible from Kaihimmakuhari station on the Keiyō Line of East Japan Railway Company (JR East). The center is the host of the annual Tokyo Auto Salon (modified car show, in January), the biennial Tokyo Motor Show (in October), the annual Tokyo Game Show (video game hardware and software exhibition, in September), the annual Jump Festa (manga, anime, and video game exposition, in December), and the biannual Wonder Festival (toys, scale figures, and garage kits exposition, in February and July). The venue was host to several Nintendo Space World events. It will be the venue for certain sports during the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Kitsune Up 🦊🦊🦊🤘🤘🤘🇯🇵🇸🇬#notacult.

It’s pretty clever. In Japanese katakana, the “th” sound is subbed with an “s” sound. But there are no individual standing consonants in Japanese except for n, and so “su” is used for the s consonant and the “u” is often times silent. For example, birthday is ba-su-de. Subsequently, death is de-su. However, desu is an actual native Japanese copula or connecting particle/word. So “BABYMETAL DEATH” is applied both ways here: BEBIIMETARU DESU = we are Babymetal, SUMETARU DESU = I am SUMETAL YUIMETARU DESU = I am YUIMETAL aka Tomato-kun MOAMETARU DESU - I am MOAMETAL aka Suupa Moa and then BABYMETAL DESU = literally Babymetal death. Yeah i gotta get off the internet for a while lol

First, I will say that your title is totally clickbait and shame on you. So, my comment on this performance is: An interesting take posted on BABYMETAL REDDIT by VulpineDeity: Take it a step farther. Not only does 'SU-METAL DESU' mean she's introducing herself, it's also her super-hero transformation phrase. Like on Sailor Moon, Usagi says 'Moon Prism Power!' and turns into Sailor Moon, Suzuka Nakamoto shouts 'I AM SU-METAL' and becomes possessed by the spirit of the Fox God and transforms into the Metal Goddess SU-METAL. The magical girl who transforms into a hero is a huge trope in Japan, comparable to Disney princesses in the west. BABYMETAL DEATH! follows the trope and it's the moment that they all transform into their magical alter egos at the start of the show. 🦊 🖖 ❤

You know I’m gonna say this. #notacult But, *looks over at Sleep Token* I think it’s okay in the year of 2023 to come out of the closet. Anywho. Yeah, this was the performance that literally BROKE me. At the time I first came across this; I was already deconstructing from religion for a couple years only to get addicted to Babymetal about a month before seeing this. My reaction to this was “Oh shit! What did I get myself into!” So blasphemous, from a sensory stand point, but it was the therapeutic blasphemy I desperately needed at the time. In my religious years I listened to the likes of Dimmu Borgir and Behemoth, so that testifies to how insane and over the top metal AF the theatrics of this performance was! While at the same time, knowing it’s from Japan and they are not self aware about these things like we are in the states, finding out it was a pun and a birthday celebration, my inner skeptic was at ease and could immerse itself into the performance without it’s guard up. Lastly, it permanently convinced the other half of my monkey brain that was still operating on religious programming that this shit was real and it actually payed homage to Christian symbolism of death to self and resurrection into an identity of holiness and divinity. A concept I still believe in very strongly. Knowing this performance took place right before Babymetal exploded into a global cult phenomenon, and seeing where they are going today, none of this is convincing my monkey brain it is false. But this group has only helped open my mind to a bigger world of musical experience and culture, so in terms of my inner skeptic, I have no reason to fight this experience and just see where it goes. All in all, this was a life changing experience for me and this performance will forever have a special place in my life like many others here in the fandom. This is Art in it’s most purest form. Thank you Japan! Thank you Babymetal!
