When DAREDEVIL Meets WOLFCOP [PODCAST]
With the announcement DAREDEVIL BORN AGAIN, we are looking back at one of our previous podcasts when we reviewed the first episode of Netflix’s DAREDEVIL series. This discussion quickly descends into nonsense as we get side-tracked to talk about the cult film WOLFCOP and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

    Love these two films. They're basically Italy's take on Evil Dead and is equally as Groovy. The soundtrack on both is awesome too with the first ones more Speed and Hair Metal tracks by Saxon and Accept and the second one's more New Wave tracks with The Cult and The Smiths

    No. It’s not. I don’t understand why RUclips influencers keep overrating this film like it’s the second coming - it is not scary - and the ending is messy. Baffled with all this praise.

      Awesome, @farfromthegrovesofacademe. This one is definitely in my top 3 as well (Dawn of the Dead and Return of the Living Dead are interchangeable in the 1 and 2 spots). But Living Dead at Manchester Morgue gets better each time I watch. Appreciate the support.

    About 33 years ago when I was 17 I visited the HMV store in Oxford , they had filled their back wall with cheap videos on clearance, among them were demons 1 and 2. I looked at them and selected demons 2, reason was, The back of the demons box listed the soundtrack and in my 17 year old mind it couldn't be a hardcore horror if it had all those famous songs on it . Loved demons 2 so went back for part 1 the next week. Loved them so much idecided I had to track down more dario argento films, even though he was only the producer not the director. That was the start of my love of his actual films. I then took the videotapes to school. My tutor group watched each title in ten minute chunks after dinner break each day and they went down a storm. In subseqent years I owned both films on dvd and later blu ray. Even bought demons 3 which isn't a demons film at all but a retitling of the film 'the ogre'

      These were the perfect films to get into Argento’s films too. I feel like I missed so much by waiting this long to watch Demons. It did prompt me to watch Suspiria for the first time too to get more into his director catalog too. And I haven’t watched Demons 3/The Ogre but might check that out too

I found Scary Stories To Tell in the Dark in 4K used at my local book place and it turned out to be a pretty solid PG-13 Horror movie. Not Horror related necessarily but that’s also kinda how I found Robin Williams’ One Hour Photo. Pretty solid psychological thriller movie!

    Now when it comes to ordering movies from online places or websites. You have to see what region they are for regions are like time zones. But they make it so a movie player can't play a movie made for specific regions. Basically every movie that is sold in stores is set for that region only. Like for example the United States an US an Canadian are region 1 so the movie players are only capable of playing region 1 or region free movies. But if you try to play a movie on a region 2 disk it won't be able to play the movie. For that movie you need a movie player made in that country or a region free movie player. So basically when you go to order a movie on whatever. DVD, Blu-ray or 4k you have to make sure it's a region free movie or it was released for you region. But if you buy it from a store directly in your country it will play on the movie player that you got in that country. No problem whatsoever.

  • @83shadow3
    @83shadow3 Год назад

    Here's the thing with movies like this by that I mean. Its a cault classic an not all cault classics get a 4K release because they are cault classics. Because the thing that determines that is if enough people buy the DVD or Blu-ray of it. Then an only then if enough copies of those sell then an only then does it get a 4k release. For example there's a movie an its add on movie I like. They are called the first one is Reeker an the addon movie is called No man's Land the rise of Reeker. Here is the thing basic need to know information about its release. Reeker was supposed to get a national world wide release. It was supposed to be shown in movie theaters in every country. That happened in every country except for the united States where it was made for some reason. So it was barely released in the United States seriously like it was barely shown on TV. But in other countries it got official movie theater releases. Now that being explained because it will help you understand. The hole DVD, Blu-ray an 4k release thing. In every other country that this movie got the full release that is was supposed to. More people seen it they liked it an bought it in DVD an Blu-ray to the point they were able to make the addon movie No Man's Land the rise of Reeker. In those countries the movies got a 4k release but they are regen locked to those countries. But since the movie was barely shown on TV in the United States. The only option is a DVD version because not enough people know about the movie. So not enough people are buying them to make the next step that would be to Blu-ray then to 4k. Because they are lesser known movies an if people enough people don't buy them they don't go to the next level or version. That is how it works for another example movies like the V/H/S movies people like those but. When it comes to physical media you are only looking at DVD and Blu-ray options. Because they are not a good fit for everyone so not enough people are buying them. To wornt the extra time an money that goes into 4k movies. But movies that make allot of money in movie theaters. Along with older movies if enough people over the years buy them they get a 4k release. Like for example Terrifier 2 a small independent movie that made allot from its theatrical release dates. To the point they had to extend it a few times so it got a DVD and Blu-ray an 4k release. So it comes down to how much money the movie makes in physical media sales an in the movie theaters. If it gets a 4k release some movies are stuck only on DVD or Blu-ray only.

    • @mastersofnonsense3356
      @mastersofnonsense3356 Год назад

      Great context and totally understand and agree. I find the case for horror and physical media to be interesting. I look at the collectible culture around the horror genre with figures, books, artwork, displays etc and surprised that there isn’t a bigger market around the actual movies themselves. One would think that the fan base would warrant the demand for some more collectors editions/4k remasters etc. but you’re right that, from a high level, the base still isn’t large enough to put the money behind it. Granted there are some coming out and hopefully more to come if people start to turn away from streaming services. Specifically for Killer Klowns, I’m hoping that we’re on the cusp of a resurgence around this movie. There was a new trailer shown off for the game at Gamescom this week. Spirit Halloween is adding more decorations for the movie with the new Slim animatronic. And this is just a fun movie that has a broader appeal that is beyond horror but will always be a cult movie because it’s so niche.

    • @83shadow3
      @83shadow3 Год назад

      @@mastersofnonsense3356 The thing is streaming services have their place like movie theaters. Sometimes people see or hear about movies from a streaming service that's how they see it for the first time. Like when people go to a movie theater but then this is the important part. If they really like an want to support the movie if it comes out on physical media of any kind. Those people need to buy it because it shows that people are willing to. Spend money on it on physical media so that means the ones that made it. Know people like it an are willing to spend their money on it like for example the V/H/S movies. They are also a nech kind of movie but they see that people are buying the DVD an Blu-rays. So they will keep making them its the same for any an all movies regardless of their genre. So streaming service have their place that is basically a home movie theater that shows. All kinds of movies an things but if people like an want to really support the movie or show. They need to buy the physical release version if one comes out. Because for example I get movies I like an love an find interesting. On physical media then I watch all the bonus features an listen to the audio commentaries. That shows I actually really like the movie because I spend my time on those things. Then I share what I learned from those things with other people. Now here's the thing other people say they love those movies but then they. Say I don't know what I'm talking about when I share the things from the bonus features an audio commentaries. That shows that they just like the movies enough just to watch them an that's it. Because they say things that are automatically discredited from bonus features and audio commentaries for the movies. By the directors an writers an others that worked on the movie themselves. Basically they stream the movie then watch it an say they know everything about it. Just from watching the movie alone without watching or listening to any behind the scenes features. That's just liking a movie enough to watch it only. I really support the movie by buying it on physical media sometimes more then once. Basically I upgrade to Collector's Editions or if I only get a Blu-ray I may get the DVD so I have both. That is showing a movie real love because I'm spend time on the audio commentaries an bonus features an actually buying it on physical media.
