Lake Palù, at 1,921 m above sea level in Valmalenco, is a scenic alpine lake surrounded by forests and snow-capped peaks, such as Mount Sasso Nero. It is about 2.5 hours from Milan, accessible via Chiesa in Valmalenco. From there, a family-friendly trekking route begins: from the parking area at San Giuseppe or Barchi, a dirt road and then a trail lead to Rifugio Barchi and the lake in about 1.5 hours. Alternatively, a longer route passes through Paluetto, Barchetto, and Zocca. It’s perfect for panoramic walks along the shores. Proper clothing is recommended, especially in winter.
