Back when anime wasn’t just a toonami exclusive on Saturdays. I remember first finding Lupin and Conan on Adult Swim. Been so long, the only memory I really have of Lupin back then is the fact that I watched it on Adult Swim.

Some fun random facts about Lupin III in Italy: The various series and specials gave suffered a bit from censorship during the years. This is mainly because of the whole "anime is animated, ergo it's safe to broadcast it on daytime television" stigma that still isn't completely gone here. Some of them DO have integral dubs that were only censored during broadcasts (or later uncut redubs), others unfortunately don't. Zenigata has an Italian-only nickname given to him by Lupin, "Zazà", that replaces the Japanese "tottsan" (your "Pops"). Goemon is and has almost always constantly been mispronounced as "Gae-mon" by EVERYONE. Despite most series and movies keeping her original name, basically everyone over the age of 40 remembers Fujiko only by her Part 2-only dub name "Margot". While the most iconic Italian opening was the one used for Part 3 (Lupin, the incorrigible Lupin), Part 1 is remembered for using the obscure song Planet O as its opening. Which is a song about aliens kidnapping and essentially molesting a human girl. This is because literally nobody in Italy understands English, so a random English song is as good as any other. Italy has actually gotten a PS2 game that was released NOWHERE ELSE, "Lupin is dead, Zenigata is in love". Lupin's first (and most iconic) voice actor Roberto del Giudice sadly passed away back in 2007, one of his last works being the third and definitive dub of Castle of Cagliostro. He's ever since been replaced by Stefano Onofri, who's almost identical to him.

32:33 I think Mako's has to be the most intriguing campaign of that game thanks to her extended interactions with Nephrite. Since he was written off right before her debut in the anime, this game did bring the general/guardian interaction that was missing from the show. And given the context it was nowhere near as antagonistic as the others were. And with some mild spoilers, I loved how it squeezes a novel, non humorous take on her "he reminds me of my old boyfriend" running gag but with additional substance as it subtly references their past life romance. I personally really enjoyed the anime's evil tree arc, but I would've enjoyed an anime version of this story (and the RPG) more.

Sailor Moon S (The fighting game with a notable community) is kinda wild mechanically, you can cancel block stun into special moves, Sailor Uranus has a really fast full screen dash and a high damage command grab oh and a ground traveling projectile you can guess how insane that can get. Chibi-usa’s low health desperation move is a full screen projectile dump that does chip damage. Game is broken as all hell but god is it fun.

Tuxedo Mask finishing a game by asking you a math question and Sailor Mars holding a damn _machine gun_ is absolute comedy gold >u< (also is the Tuxedo M thumbs up from the first game it looks so positively silly) 1:16:41 i got frickin jumpscared (also kinda accurate? idk there are a lot of different artstyles in HS so yeah sure, i can kinda see it)

I have the French version of the SNES game(loose) and the Italian DS game with the box. Neither weren't cheap, especially the latter. I also got the snes game signed by Usagi's mother(Viz dub actress) in person.

This was the video I always wanted and never knew I wanted ❤ My favorite Sailor Moon game memory was using a walkthrough to play through an untranslated version of the SNES rpg with a friend in like 1999 😂 We both frequented a Sailor Moon Chat back then so we flipped out when we found out there were games in Japan… thank goodness for emulation!

Cool video. I used to have Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon for Mega Drive and I enjoy beat'em'up Sailor Moon games the most (fighting games feel pretty janky), even when they are pretty basic. My wife collects pretty much everything Sailor Moon, so we have RPG entries as well (but no SNES to play them on, so emulation all the way). By the way, there was a slew of edutainment Sailor Moon games for PC-98 and other japanese computers, from typing tutors and basic kanji learning to history or japanese geography. We also have couple of those, on mostly rotten and/or corrupted old floppy disks. I find history ones especially interesting or hillarious (they play Japanese WWII exploits WAY down but always include Hiroshima and Nagasaki), and all of them are quite obscure these days, even in Japan. There seemed to be no limit of licensing Sailor Moon in the 1990s.

Honestly either another RPG or fighting game both categories I feel are really on there rise and a sailor moon fighting game done by arcs now would be super cool to see how far they have gone since sailor moon was there first ever fighter

For years I've wanted 2 specific Sailor Moon games to be made: 1) Sailor V. The arcade game was such a focus, why did they never bother to try and recreate it as its own game?? Baffling 2) A TRPG/chess-like game in which the inner/outer senshi can move around the board and defeat lesser mooks, but they have to protect Sailor Moon and weaken the big bad (member of the opposing team) so that Sailor Moon can deliver the coup de grace. I think it would really be in the spirit of the original anime and would be an interesting way to adapt that feeling

Lupin the 3rd and Detective Conan (Or Case Closed) airing late night together made the fact that they never got the dub cast for both shows to do the Special and Movie Crossovers 😅 Truly a tragedy it never happened Would have made for and amazing Adult Swim event 🍻

Now Spielberg had said that The Car Chase Scene in Castle of Cagliostro was so incredible that it could never be surpased. (paraphrasing it). That he praised it on a blurb on the VHS release. Spielberg couldn't get the the rights to Lupin on his own but cleverly had SKG DreamWorks make The Road to El Dorado. Claiming at the time it was an homage to "The Road" films of Bob Hope and Bing Crosby (to avoid a Lawsuit from The Le Blanc Estate. Creator of Lupin The Gentlemen Thief) Miguel and Tulio are Lupin & Jigen (I forget which gets the girl). El Tivo is Goemon since he worked with Cortez first, like how Zenigata first hired Goemon. While Chel is The Every Woman Fujiko. During the late 90's only. Fujiko and Goemon teamed up and got away with some of the Treasure...just like the end of The Road to El Dorado.
