I chat about my training after Chattanooga 70.3 leading into Ironman Boulder 70.3 this weekend. I didn't recover as quickly as usual after Chatty, which isn't surprising giving it is the third race in the build. So I did quite a bit more running on the Lever Running unit to take some pressure off the legs but give myself the running stimulus I was looking for. Check them out at bit.ly/3Xdl3Ua -...

Recap from Ironman Hamburg/Europe Trip
I thought you were going to touch upon the anti-aging benefits of carnosine. I saw something written that it reduces or removes amyloid plaque in the brain and helps in warding off Alzheimer's disease and then life extension says it's an antaglycading agent. I thought you would cover more than just the muscular performance. Could you tell me how each differs in the anti-aging side of things? Also carnosine I read somewhere that it has some heart benefits. I was didn't know that this was strictly about muscles but maybe I'll get to hear from you
As a former professor of exercise science and now professional athlete, wellness and brain related effects fall well outside of my scope. Unfortunately, I'm not the best person to give you this information.
@@MattHansonTri I am into fast barefoot walking on well manicured grass fields it works your muscles differently your foot strike improves, I also to light swimming and intense treading with two kickboard which i push down forcefully on each high kick graceful yet forceful LOL ect ect
Since your analysis a few months ago, have you changed your hydration strategies as a result of your analysis? Is the glucose only for sweat analysis or can it also be used for nutrition analysis? Have yu changed your nutrition strategies as a result of the glucose analysis? Finally, have you tried using it outdoors yet?
Great video explaining how it worked. Thank you for the code, which actually worked. I ordered today and got a discount on the cap with all the pieces. I also ordered the headband without the pieces so I can wear that indoors on a treadmill (I will just move the pieces from the cap to the headband). I am working on my second marathon, Houston in Jan 2025. Not at your level and hope to break 4 hours this time. I will wear the cap for that one. PS- If you cannot cook steak outside due to the grill being down or bad weather, you can do it on the stove top indoors. I recently watched Gordon Ramsey on RUclips to learn how. After a few tries I got it down and tastes just like they do in a restaurant. Way cheaper than what a restaurant charges and it does not take long at all.
On the Omius website there a lot of pictures of the Paris marathon where lots of greats wore the headband, I think this company is going to make money!
They have to invent a cooling vest or something like that to reduce the core temperature
I'm here because of the Olympic Marathon in Paris 2024.
Ok
Very interesting and useful. I see you are using a cap as well, wearing it backwards. Reasoning? I suffer immensely in the heat - more than most I would say - and am keen to explore any method that will help me manage this a bit better.
I have started wearing the visor with the omius bricks built in to the band so I can use the bill of the visor to keep the sun off my neck.
@@MattHansonTri thank you for the prompt reply. I’m going to give the band a try.
Great, check out the discount code in the video description to save a bit!
This is great content!
Did not work for Kipchoge at Paris 2024 Olympics.
But worked for Bashir Abdi (silver in Paris)
And Sifan Hassan
Was there ever a follow up video to this?
HI Matt and thanks for your video - I'm an average age group planning for Norseman - how would you recommend using the DeltaG Performance over the race with 2 bottles ? thank you
My suggestion is always to get a keto mojo from amazon and do some testing at race intensity to see your burn rate. It's quite specific and individual. See how much it takes you to get up to 2.0 while riding and how quickly you fall to 1.0 after. that will help you figure out your dosages and timing.
somebody visibly upped his art direction! looks really nice Matt!
💯
Seems fundamentally very difficult to measure CDAs outside the track or wind tunnel. Surely lots of changing variables that you cannot equalise between test runs - wind speed, direction, humidity etc. In any case, interesting video and good luck with Ironman Lake Placid!
Thank you!! 😊
The loser has to take a less fortunate person our for lunch.
IMLP is gonna be fabulous!! Cannot wait to cheer ya'll on...volunteering on the beach! God bless, Megan 🙏 ps. GAG, NO to the loser doing a beer mile, lol...instead they have to run a mile with me! 😁😁
Lot of movement in that cockpit. Would love to know if you replace the screws, base plates or headset clamps routinely?
This might depend on sponsors. But whoever finishes lower should have to race in the other guys country flag trisuit outfit for his next race. Or if a country flag tri suit can’t be procured or made by the suit sponsor, then maybe just wear an American flag or Canadian flag hat for the run.
have a great race and enjoy it
Whoa Jackson is doing Lake Placid! Wow. I'm impressed. He'll soon find out that an Ironman is not simply twice the distance of a 70.3. Matt be mindful of your knee. It was stiff on several occasions and you still pushed your run training. Back off and run more on your treadmill and use your body weight reduction device. You have lots of experience and have done loads of training these last years that you can run fast if not injured. Good luck to both of you. I'll be watching.
Loser has to play a game of dogeball using fruit instead of dogeballs
Winner gets control of the losers social media for a day
Loser has to wear a shirt for training saying they got beat by the winner
Loser has to go ice skating at the Placid rink in a Speedo
Thanks for sharing this test session, Really interesting. Have a great race 👍
One of the best videos you’ve done, and that’s saying a lot! Great stuff!!
I noticed you tested wearing calf sleeves. Did they have a measurable impact?
There’s rules and best practices, but (esp with the behind the saddle bottle) there’s so many variables that what works for one person may not be the fastest for someone else! Good luck at Placid boss!
Whats wrong with just simply saying the numbers instead of all this qualitative description
The actual numbers were mentioned the last part of the video. But the numbers are unique to the individual. Different sensors and different tunnels will give slightly different numbers, even when calibrated properly. Also, body size will be a significant factor. The qualitative process can be applied to anyone. So I talk through the why and my process and you can learn how to do it yourself if you'd like. Much better than "here are my numbers...do the same thing I did and maybe it will be similar to you..."
@@MattHansonTri I was referring to qualtative in terms of large/small savings "not a ton worse" comments.
I gave all the numbers from all the runs together at the end of the video so you can easily see a comparison.
literally gives the actual cda number...
Will be cheering for you at IMLP! God bless, Megan🙏
sweet video and good luck at your next race!! looking forward to seeing the biking
first lap of imlp you should be able to crush that first decent!
What sensor and app?
Literally says it on the sensor
GiBLI G10 sensor
I don’t understand how to use these ketones. If I’m going out to ride 100 miles, where does this fall into food intake etc…. What about a 30-40 miles ride? How do I use it? I’m a recreational rider. 2.5 watts/kg guy.
Check out the other videos I've done on these where I talk about my process in setting up the plan. If you are willing to invest in the ketones, do it the right way and get yourself a ketomojo (off amazon) and test yourself frequently. Everyone's burn rate is different (and different at different power/hr/etc). So you need to dial in your personal plan. The previous videos I've done on this talk you through how to do it.
@@MattHansonTri Thank you! I will watch!
Sa-weeeet! Hope to get a glimpse of the new ride in person at IMLP! God bless, Megan 🙏
Nice bike enjoy
Gorgeous!
Nice bike!!
Monster himself.....big bike power ....big run power 🔋 so big is yours ....
Great video!👏
What's the headband or cap that you were running with? Does it cool the forehead?
Yes, check out a full review here: ruclips.net/video/NwTnkdYB7lw/видео.html
Will you race the 70.3 World's in Taupo in Dec. ?
That is the plan!
For the bottle popping out, I have a simple solution that has worked for me and it doesn't require rubber bands. The main issue is the slick surface of the bottle and slick surface of the bottle cage. Get yourself some gritty sand paper. Scrape the bottle horizontally side to side. Make the bottle not slick. Do the same thing in the inside of the bottle cage. The bottle and the bottle cage should be rough after this. With Gorilla cages, since I started doing this, I have not had a bottle pop out. Hope this helps
Good job Professor !
congrats Matt you blew past me on the 2nd bike loop
Ha, hopefully I gave you plenty of space! Got crowded out there.
@@MattHansonTri totally homie you guys were ripping
I love how your running style makes you look like you're almost in slow motion but in reality you're fricking smashing it! I enjoy watching you run. Amazing
It's a running style made for radio some might say.
You said 'you know' 58 times in that video. Geez.
You seem awfully concerned with my speech patterns. Curious on your intent of these posts?
@christopherdevine2811 Come on, totally unnecessary. The guy is a triathlete (and a damn good one), not a professional speaker. He’s here to share his content with those that want to watch it, and not be bothered with nonsense
Hahaa such a sad individual that takes time out of their day to comment something like this. I close my else and just picture what a miserable life they must lead 🤣
@@MattHansonTri When my daughter was ten years old I told her that I was going to charge her a nickel for every time she inappropriately used 'like'. She was quite unhappy with that. Two decades later, as an attorney in Dallas, she attended a conference dedicated to the issues females face in a male dominated field. One of the strong points the speaker made: Do not misuse 'like'. Without 'geez' , I suppose that the comment regarding your use of 'you know' can be construed as a simple way to improve the presentation of your videos. You know? 🙂 PS: Brilliant run!
You know, you are probably right. I'm sure his intentions were purely altruistic.
Great stuff.
Glad you enjoyed it
Great Year
First half was good. Hopefully we can put together a strong second as well!
Taking a break after all this racing will set you up well for the rest of the season!
That's the plan!
It’s literally insane how fast you run….. congrats on the year so far, you are dominating out there. Finish the year strong!
Still a lot of racing left to do, but I've put myself in a good spot leading into the back 1/2 of the season.
