Goodness me Andy McIntosh is a tedious and hectoring. No wonder there was only a tiny handful of people in the audience. The main point he laboured over and over again is that lots of fossils show animals and other life-forms that have not changed in supposedly millions of years. This shows basic ignorance of evolution. Animals only change in response to changing environmental conditions. Some animals, like crocodiles, have flourished in their ecological niche for hundreds of millions of years and so there is no reason for the fossil record to show that they have changed. The same goes for all of Mcintosh’s examples especially ferns. He claimed that evolution could not produce a creature with two body plans such as butterflies which emerge from a chrysalis but he did not engage with any counter-arguments. This is just the argument from incredulity. He seems to know nothing about fossil formation and thinks that they all show evidence of a one-off catastrophe when in fact fossil formation often starts with a quick burial in mud and so forth. To extrapolate from this to a one-off worldwide flood is simply taking a gigantic leap of logic. He claims that there is no evidence of trilobites having gradually formed which demonstrates his basic ignorance of evolution. Species do not “gradually form”. All offspring have mutations and some of these are advantageous to reproduction which leads to gradual change. It’s not difficult to find transitional fossils such as the famous archaeopteryx. His lecture is full of non sequiturs such as examples of dinosaurs being buried with turtles and crocodiles. He claims that soft tissue found in a T Rex bone could not have survived 65 million years but does not engage with any scientific debate about this. Finally, he talks about carbon 14 and claims that, if the earth was billions of years old, we would have none of it today because of its short half-life. Radiocarbon dating is only useful up to 50,000 years so this argument is bogus. He doesn't engage with any other methods of dating the universe. I am astonished that Andy McIntosh is so bad at this. He can preach to the converted no problem. But anyone with half a brain can see that this kind of lecture is just thinly-disguised evangelism and nothing to do with science.

Andy MacIntosh could do with some humility. There is no argument here about evolution. Just pure assertion that God made the bombardier beetle with its defence mechanism against predators, also made by God, that want to eat it.
