      This is just one segment that led to combos, moving the head after punching, slipping, footwork, etc. He initially was rushing through his strikes with kenpo, so i slowed it down with this segment so each punch is thrown separately. This is just a segment of what we were doing. This is not the drill for the month.

    How about Glancing Wing instead. Your ranges are not functional. The attacker will flinch like that to the right hand blocking.

    • @ikarateclub
      @ikarateclub 4 месяца назад

      I've used this b4 on uppercut attack in a spontaneous reaction and the concealed downward claw is what allows for this to occur functionally, and allows to adjust distance is a well. After the claw following the downward smother block the attacker can't see, and allows for return uppercut. All techniques are meant to be graphed into usable format, which will create many variables and "what if" situations. Parts of glancing wing can work depending on your angle and positioning of the attacker and reaction.

    • @ikarateclub
      @ikarateclub 4 месяца назад

      This technique can be used to counter a often used jab + long range uppercut +front hook combo... The Raining Claw technique can be used to setup opponents with claw for blinding uppercut.

      The only time a technique is completed on the IP is in training. This goes for the what if fantasies of ego and the road block to learning that are kenpo videos that show the completion of the pattern. What if I want to use various snippets of my vocabulary of techniques? Look up Even If. It's better that what if.

    What are your thoughts about cross-training American Kenpo with traditional non olympic-style Taekwondo or tang soo do? I hear a lot of people say that American Kenpo is classically broken down being 70% hands 30% feet and Taekwondo the opposite being 70% feet 30% hands. I think both Arts are awesome and I would like to train them both what are your thoughts?

    • @ikarateclub
      @ikarateclub Год назад

      Great question. I believe it's a great idea to cross train in the Arts that can supplement kicking like Tang Soo Do, or Taekwondo. I also have a 7th Degree in Tang Ken Ru Jiu Jitsu ( which is combination of Tang Soo do, Kenpo, and Budo Jiu Jitsu) which keeps me well rounded standing, grappling, or close in range. I used to compete in Pankration which forced me to use my various styles.

    This is a great channel, I wish I knew about it earlier. I took Kenpo for 12 years until my master moved across country to care of family. I loved it, made 2nd Dan. One think I love about Kenpo is that you wear shoes in class, never liked the barefoot training. Anyway, I subbed!

    • @ikarateclub
      @ikarateclub Год назад

      Thank you! We will be uploading more techniques and information weekly. You can wear shoes... but the reason for not wearing shoes initially in Karate was to help heal your body, through grounding yourself from energy from the earth. The Warriors would train without shoes on the ground or in dirt to ground themselves while training, and this also helped heal their bodies just like acupressure to the feet. The feet have all the organs attached to them, so pressure in various places, allows for your body to heal. Shoes break that connection. Training without shoes will help u become more aware of yourself, because after a fee snubs, u will be aware of where not to step. We appreciate your support! Oss! 🙏🏽 🥋

    If I can ask, why attack the mastoid with the sword hand/ chop in Delayed Sword (rather than striking the neck perhaps) ? Thank you

    • @Redsensei10p
      @Redsensei10p Год назад

      Ideally, depending on the height zone of your opponent, Delayed Sword would more than likely allow for an angle of entry for a right downward diagonal hand sword to the side of the neck rather than the mastoid. I suppose if you kick them hard enough with that ball kick to the groin or if you’re way taller than your opponent then the mastoid might be an available target. Not saying this way is wrong, but I always teach to chop the neck🤙🏽💯

      This was unplanned attack, i adjusted to what the attacker gave me. Every situation is different. I did multiple strikes to the eyes, and throat while restraining myself. Anytime u use the entire body as a weapon your odds are better being successful. If u can't see, stand, or breathe u can't fight as well. An eye poke can stop a fight, mma, or any boxing street fight encounter. We use critical thinking to stop attacks, b4 brute force or strength.

      It definitely works. The reason my head was tilted was because of impact and to make sure she didn't slip up. It doesn't feel good and u can't breathe when done properly. If opponent can't see, breathe, or stand they can't fight as well. This is not sport with rules this is real life. Do these strikes to yourself hard and see if it doesn't work. If u punch someone in the throat you can do real damage even if u small or skinny.
