    For Protection: we like to use "Shielding" as offensive. It works great to close the distance. And very little karateka’s practice it.? Warm greetings

    Watching this series again - don't understand why there aren't more comments prasising it! I am not a practitioner of Koryu Uchinadi (Nidan in Shotokan) but am definitely a fan. I have taught these 8 parts in the dojo, as well as the combined flow drill, to our black belts. It's great stuff. Again, thank you for sharing this series.

    Mielenkiintoisia elementtejä. Ihan sattumalta näin Klemolan tekevän tuota ja luulin Wadoryu kataksi, mutta netin syövereistä tuli jotain taustaa. Laittoi miettimään voiman käyttöä ja mikä on minimi. Siis, että rakenne pysyy kasassa. Aikanaan veti hillitöntä ulkoista jännitystä (seishan?) kataa ulkoistaessa. Myöhemmällä iällä eri ohjauksessa ihan muissa lajeissa tuli nuo uudelleen mieleen. Mutta kiitos tästä. Hieno kokonaisuus.

    A great series of videos. Anyone interested in practical applications of karate should watch all 8 of these, take the ideas and practise them, and look for the applications in their own kata. Brilliant applications, and, more, the principles behind the applications deserve careful thought and analysis.

    This is a superb series of videos. I really like the idea of going from defence and escape to defence and take down to defence, take down and control (level 1, 2 3). Excellent practical applications of the basics. Thanks you for sharing these applications and principles.

    A bit of a strange question but if someone created there own kata whats the best way to name it as it wouldn't be a traditional Japanese creation?

    • @antebrannbacka148
      @antebrannbacka148 2 года назад

      I don’t think there is any right or wrong here. It’s up to the creator to chose a name that fits the purpose. I’ve used Japanese names for my own creations. The word kata in itself is Japanese, so why don’t go all the way. I’ve chosen names that directly or indirectly describes what the kata is about.
