@@princessprado120 thanks, I'm aware of it. the torque is 118 around those numbers if im not mistaken, but it's probably lower nowadays as time pass by

It sounds too much.

This engine has enough torque at low revs. When going uphill, I shift gears at higher revs.

@@princessprado120 ik but the engine wouldn't really like it if it's vibrating and beig NA engine makes it rattle more than a turbocharged ones.

@@princessprado120 I am going to be honest with you, you're changing your gears quite low imo. Send this video to a friend of mine who daily drives a diesel car, but he also has the same opinion as me. maybe try changing the gears at 2200rpm instead cause making the car vibrate too much don't sound too good and the passengers isn't going to enjoy a ride with lots of vibration, isn't? haha

@@misterpotato4775 Thank you for your advice and interest. However, the vehicle does not vibrate at low revs - the road surface is not even. At the same time, I have low fuel consumption at low revs at higher speeds. In the video, there were some intersections with poor visibility and I was driving carefully. In 5th gear, at 90 km/h it is around 2400 rpm. I occasionally go over 3000 rpm on a freeway or going uphill. I myself advised guys to increase the revs, for example, on the Nissan Patrol 3.0TD or 4.2D, which were driving at 900-1100 rpm and their engines stalled.

​@@misterpotato4775Today I tried to shift gears (1st, 2nd and 3rd) when reaching 2000 rpm. I did not like it. After 1500 rpm the speed was increasing very slow and the engine was so loud with little effect.

@@princessprado120 probably but im 165cm but still someone drove my car got the same height as you or taller. he also said that the gear is too far compared to say a Hilux manual.

@@princessprado120 my bad but idk about you but this engine runs on the cold side rather than hot. it even runs below the middle temperature even if you push it hard haha.

Less RPM while warming up (1500 RPM) - more gradual warm up. For example, while driving on a good paved road at a steady 90 km/h in 5th gear, 2400 RPM, the temperature is almost the same - less than middle (outside over 30 degrees Celsius).

@@princessprado120 that's the same as mine. This engine is practically cool for most of the times. A Turbo in it would probably a normal for this engines.😂

Thank you very much! I'm afraid to wash the engine with a jet of water to avoid electrical problems. I simply wipe the visible parts with a damp cloth. If I needed to flush the engine with a jet of water, I would do it on very hot and dry days, disconnect the battery and let it dry before starting. Do not direct the water jet at connectors, alternator and other electrical devices.

The 5L-E engine was designed not to have a turbo. The turbo will reduce its reliability. Instead of installing a turbo on the 5L-E, buying a vehicle with turbo engines 1KZ-TE or 1KD-FTV is better.

I have already answered you regarding fuel consumption and will repeat the same message (It was on a paved road with some hills, with speed limits of 50 km/h and 90 km/h, to the destination and back. I was driving alone with a full tank and about 50 kg of stuff on the way back. The result was 7.99 liters/100 km) The vehicle just passed 188000 km and it is from 2007. Thank you!

If your vehicle's engine sound is the same as mine, everything is probably fine. This is the sound of this old type of diesel engine. The hood insulation will probably reduce the noise a bit.

If the exhaust has holes due to rust, yes. If it's genuine Toyota though - keep it.

@@princessprado120 My 120 is a surviving model. 8 seater. 6 with belts. Two foldable in the cargo space. 3 seats in first row (driver and 2 persons). Surviving because there is nothing what can go defect when crossing a desert....no ABS but airbags and A/C and a lot of diesel. Manual and not permanent 4x4. I have the car in the Philippines now for the winter time. Normally I live in Austria where only D4D is available because of emission laws. 5L without converter runs forever. I drove for testing vegetable oil 3.000 km pure oil without any changes. Runs perfect! Now the veggie oil became expensive☹️. The best car I ever had in 40 years driving license. I wish I knew that 20 years ago and could have peace of mechanics......Never felt the engine too weak. 120 5L forever🙂🙂 (2004 103k milage)😍
