my favorite class to play in Vermintide 2 is Huntsman Markus with normal sword or sometimes with a shield (depends on the mood). why? because its fun.
i dont even NEED to watch this vid n typing already. i refuse to follow metas, they ruin everything. ive been inventing new spec's in WoW for 2 decades, others copy me months later. i find what i enjoy n make something of it. im playin private servers these days that let you make almost any build, its great n the meta slaves are invisible to me lol
I choose Raven Guard because I am in a airsoft group named Raven Guard and holy crap they match me almost perfectly
Should i be offended by that midget joke?
Fucking based. No need to get elitist in a PVE game. Just jump in and have fun. Much like your stepsister, don't get stuck or you'll get .....
idc what anyone says league and dota are the reason why 90% of people into optimizing to the point of extremes
I love how the video started with, complaining about ppl pushing the meta, then sliding into justifying using overpowered metas. I mean if a lobby has someone with a "win button" I keep my complains to myself, but if every lobby had it and then ppl start to cry about needing it in the patch notes when it gets reined in. Then there is a problem with the game balance and not sentiments.
Tazerhands? I will immediately go and rename my Psyker Tazerface! Thank you! Edit: Thanks for this video.
I didn’t know Johnny Silverhand was in Darktide!
If you can't 1. animation cancel/ movement tech 2. Tell me accurately your max dps output 3. Solo auric 4. Have at least full set of crispy cosmetics literally unistall this game
This is why I just screw around in tier three missions. It is the perfect mix of fun and challenge for me. Get to live the dream as an Ogryn that lives only to bonk heretics with a rusty metal pipe.
I got some of my friends into Darktide, and Darktide has felt like one of the first games to me in a long time I can say to my friends: "Everything is fairly good, use what feels good to you." and one of my buddies became one of the best damn Ogryn mains I've ever seen because I encouraged him to play how he feels most comfortable and he picked up a fuckin' Cleaver and never put it down.
I used a hammer since the game pretty much came out. When i did ppl told me not to and i stayed using it still using it to this day. Been killing deamonhosts even when i dont have to since i started using it. This game is a "know your build" game. Just like warframe, just like destiny. Let ppl use what they like if theybknow how to use it. Thats my motto
The problem being on this game is the documentation. If new players just want to play blind with no data, for primal fun (which is fair), so be it. But I'd argue most players, especially new, want the best. Path of Exile meta builds would not destroy the market every time a big RUclipsr posts a new video about some broken shit, if new players (or casuals) weren't looking for it. Same "should" be the case for Darktide. But the most available tool, Darktide build editor, is full of misinformation. "meta builds" with the most likes/put in front page... Are trash. And it's not helping players WHO ARE LOOKING for good builds (that's why they watch such videos or go to such a character building website). Saying new players should not look into what is strong/how the game works; is doing a disservice to a community already full of clueless gamers ragequitting out of incompetence/ignorance. I don't know you but it saddens me to say people (more specifically randoms, not "veterans" or whatever you'd call them) need the opposite of this video. Still, have a great day.
Note that I mentioned freely suggesting away when directing towards good gear, just don't bear down on new players that may be trying unorthodox or less powerful means.
Yeah, but if i get a dime when some PoS join golden auric storm mission, do absolutely nothing and any criticism is meeting: "i play what i want" i would have two dimes, but its not funny it happens twice.
That's kinda how the reality of gaming with randoms has always been, but I do dislike pocket change.
For years when gaming was a habit or addiction for me, I had to min-max to wring out whatever fun I could. After a break and a huge life change I approach the game w/ no cares other than to have fun. Deliberately use horrible weapons just because they look cool and laugh when people once like me huffpuff about it. Take it easy!
I don’t really care about other players and will still play the same no matter. Though I’d like to say something about smite psyker and it’s only a recent discovery. I main the Ogryn and will sometimes play like an Ogryn when using other classes. Ogryns are super simple and require no mechanic other than hit hard, throw rock, and daka daka daka. But let’s move on from me being an Ogryn. I actually found out Zealots get nerfed pretty freaking hard when playing around smite. Like some of their key damage nodes require dodging to one shot some of the heavy units. Like sure crushers and maulers get stunned but 3-4 hits to the head is a pain compared to a funny one time smack. But this info is mainly for players who party up and build around each other. To the people who queue into pubs, that is your issue to fix. Anyways enjoy the game folks!
I remember when I started playing, I'd use krack grenades a lot to deal with armored opponents. Then I learned that crack grenade is bad from some emo Darktide utuber and told me in the video to use frag. On one hand he is right, because when I started using frag, I started learning how to deal with armored opponents in other ways, but he is wrong because krack is still awesome and you can kill 5 or more tough opponents with one grenade and relieve pressure off your team. So... don't ever listen to opinions, even if they come from better players.
Freethinking?? Is this a pathway to hEReSY?!
If you In my lobby and you’re deadweight or using things I don’t like I’m going to kick you from the game. Don’t be coming into my lobbies being garbage, go find a mediocre group to play with. I wouldn’t care if I get all the crafting resources that he would earn at the end of the mission then he’d stay. Nothing I love more than seeing a bottom tier pub in my maelstroms
That Was Probably The Worst Iron Hands Take ive Ever Seen and i love it Some of Us Just Wanted To Be Called Darth Vader Wanna Be's an Thats it But Your Like " Get a Life " 😂🤣😂 Expectation Subverted
I would love more of these, naturally. In an offering of value fun fact, gun autism fact, the army is making a bolter. That should queue up something in the RUclips search algorithm for y'all [BARREtt SSRS]
Based
Every time when someone asks what is good to use, I usually say "use what ever you want I could give less of a shit what you use as long you have fun" or something like that and I dont see the point of meta building everything anymore
Devils claw compared to DS feels like noodle agains carapace but damn it is fun, and if I'm about to wipe, I'll wipe with style.
Thank you for reminding me what I love about the raven guard, I fucken hate people lol. it takes effort to be valued and to many people get their panties in a wad over that,
I do think that crutches should be pointed out as what they are, and let it be known. Or things that make the player disengage with a large portion of the mechanics. Not to hate on those who use them, but to point out what those crutches are doing because often a person might not be having as much actual fun. Think of it like this. A new Dragon Ball Z game comes out and it's amazing. The whole point of the game is to have the crazy, elongated anime fights and have fun with the beam struggles and all of that. Then the game has a One Punch Man crossover and you can play Saitama and just one-shot everything and everyone. Sure it might be hilarious at first, but after a bit a player who has just been playing Saitama might wonder why people even like the game, cuz it's not engaging. For my own actual shit opinion, the example I think of is dedicated mage builds in Souls games. Not melee mage, full mage. I think this is kinda playing the game *wrong* even if the devs put it in for you because you are just not engaging with most of the game mechanics. You're just hitting the nuke button from 50 meters away and you barely know what the dodge button is. And frankly, it's not that much easier than Chaos Zweihander with Power Within :P Which I'd also argue is far more hilariously satisfying.
I do think bearing down on smite is a bit much. I'm only really using it to bail out teammates with less than ideal positioning at this point.
@@JebblesJunior I didn't actually know what sparked the video topic for this one, and haven't played enough Darktide to know what the problem was there. I had just been talking about more generally with games :)
Out of topic but what’s your specs?
For the Psyker build it's high toughness and huge warp resistance so I can buy people as much time as possible on objectives.
@ my bad I shoulda specify. Pc specs
I think everybody actually has a limit on how suboptimal they can tolerate their teammates playing, different people just have different limits. Like nobody wants to play with the guy who always shoots poxbursters no matter how close they are, or the zealot who runs ahead and aggros everything and then dies. Obviously you always have the option to leave when you encounter someone who makes the game unfun for you but that doesn’t mean you can’t think of them as bad as well.
Those are less meta and more player that can't handle what they got themselves into. If it's their first couple times doing it, I let it slide. If they're regularly showing up and dying with no intention of improvement, that's an issue.
Hey jebbles! Missed your content dude. Only got here cause yt recommended your videos again How long have you been playing darktide for? As for the topic of this video, yes I kinda agree. I like diversity a lot in strats and builds, and like to pick my own talents and weapons I play as veteran and I try out like the chain axe, bolt pistol, braced autogun, and those weapons I have some people tell me they are trash or outclassed and shouldn't be used I like those weapons and I like playing my own way and hey, I still beat damnation missions (not consistently, but I don't mind) At the end of the day, that's what hd2 failed at imo, encouraging diversity
Heck, even forget this genre of coop I play rts games such as command and conquer and even mod one of the games in the franchise: tiberium wars As much as possible I tried to rule out all the "metas" that were sticking out like a sore thumb for that community and tried to encourage different builds and playstyles Balancing is indeed hard, but not impossible to get right, you can have a good mix of fun and balance, and I just think most developers nowadays are not play testing their game much or even aren't playing at all
I've been playing for a bit past two weeks now.
I agree that's what games are for to have fun, especially in a pve setting. I always play for fun sometimes I bring a meta loadout and sometimes I pick a loadout that's not so great for fun and challenge. thankfully I've never ran into an emotionally unstable meta slave yet but I know they out there but I gotta say it can go both ways sometimes when someone brings an ultra juiced meta build it can suck the fun away from casuals cause they just kill everything before anyone can do anything, at that point all your there to do is pick that guy up if goes down but that's pubs everyone should just play what they want.
Just got you in my recommended and just gotta say I love how you put things. Subbed❤
My god, yes. I'm so tired of optimizing taking the fun out of gaming. I get competitive games requiring some kind of optimization but lets be real here. You're not the best player in the world and the small boost whatever character or item gives you isn't going to guarantee a win over having fun and being the best at what you like to play.
Auric missions with randoms can be either amazing or stressful. Its huge the amount of times ive seen people who dont know how to dodge. Then theres a Random Ogryn who can dodge everything like a god lol. When you get a team where there all in sync it feels amazing. Has long you stay together and prioritize Special enemies every game is fine.
Bro darktide just came out for ps5 today and i wanted to be a psyker cuz i wanna be a super dope space wizard. I kid u not Some dweebs on pc and xbox were calling me slurs because the character im using is "too op" like, bich i paid 50 bucks for this game so i play who i want how i want
I'd say I'm a wee bit of a game historian, considering I've been actively gaming for like 35 years at this point. The meta thing came about with MMOs and CS to be honest, from what I saw. Back in the days of Ultima Online even there was the meta. There were also those that were willing to abuse the system to make sure that they were in the perfect meta. For example, there were some very early paid for macro programs that allowed you to do the 8x8 method. What this meant was that you found somewhere that you could travel one of the games cardinal directions freely. You'd travel along and do your skill 1 block at a time until you got a skill gain. When you got that, you traveled 8 blocks in the direction you were going. Sometimes you'd hit this sweet spot where you'd suddenly get this huge run of gains because of the way you were moving and the way the system generated those gains. The program allowed you to do that automatically. That was in the late 90s. You also had the start of what you currently see in most FPS games, and even MOBAs to some degree, with the way people were strategizing their picks between rounds. That's the earliest I can remember the meta being a thing.
My favorite type of crybaby is the type that quits the second they get downed like damn sorry I didn't realize I was getting in the way of your Guinness world record of never getting downed
One thing I'd like to reiterate as I've seen some confusion. Mind the "As long as you pull your own weight" caveat to the "Do whatever you want" sentiment.
Enormously good outlook on playing this game. One small issue. where are your dialogue captions I WANT TO SEE THE B A N T E R -
Mostly agree. Until you show up in Maelstorm and clearly out of your depth. You can outplay a bad build, but some people jump too quickly before they got the basics down. And smite. If you are just smiting 24/7, you ruin the melee portion of the game. Smite has its uses when cornered or surrounded but not 24/7.
I've already seen an uptick of folks diving right into the deep end coinciding with the release on PlayStation. I think the best we can do is direct them to the proper difficulty.
Good movement mechanics and situational awareness are stronger than any build optimization. I can take a cleaver ogryn into auric and still dodge/slide/push my way through situations when the rest of the dueling sword shouty veterans knew how to follow a build but dont know how to kite a mob. If you dont know the core mechanics and you are the min/max type player then all you get is more efficient dps that will still fail hard when the going gets tough and mistakes are made.
no
TLDR; If it works, it works. Full stop. If it don't work, talk some shit, but keep it constructive. I can't understand actually hating on a player for bringing weak or strong things. Maybe its because they are insatiably starving for a win, and consider anything that gets in the way of that a threat. But, even then, its not exactly constructive to hate on someone for it. I get being tongue and cheek, talking a little shit about a certain OPTION. Maybe mentioning something is bad, and advise against it. (For example; I talk shit about the quazar in HD2 against bugs because of its slow rate of fire, and low potential). But if the player decides they want to use it, that should be it. If it screws them, and the team, over. Well, then you talk a little more shit and keep going. With, or without them. If the player can make it work, well, they made it work. But genuinely being upset at a person, long-term, for not being optimized, in a game that doesn't require optimization, doesn't help anyone.
I don't have a problem with min/maxing and I understand that for some people that is fun and have been know to do it myself in more than a few games. What I have a problem with is imposing your criteria for "right" on others. I have never tried to make anyone play the way I think is "right" with the exception of high level premade stuff (such as raiding in MMOs) and that only because its kind of needed. In games like darktide, helldivers, or monster hunter I don't care what other players want to do as long as we are having fun.
thank you. i saw a youtuber leaving games because people were using thunderhammer. that guy is such a loser
that closing statement was funny asf ngl.
Personally, I've never been one to care about 'Meta' or 'Min-maxing' in games, Single-player, co-op pve or pvp, One of the things I enjoy most about Darktide is that I don't have to care, I play the missions I wanna play, on the difficulty i wanna play, and use the gear i wanna use... Do i find myself missing my frag grenades when i'm running smokes? sure, yeah... but is popping a smoke cloud before pulling off a last second combat res also fun and rewarding, hell yes. My Brother has just spent the last 8 hours getting yelled at by customers for shit that is entirely out of his control My buddy is running on his last few braincells after being awake for 18 hours And I'm, frankly, just fucking lazy Do any of us want to think about optimising gameplay and min-maxing stats? not a chance... we wanna turn our brains off, catch-up, banter and purge some heretics. Everyone has the right to enjoy the game the way they want too, 'Meta-slaves' included, but your rights, as in all things, end where the next person's starts.
Stay mediocre then
Personally, I'm in the middle camp. :3 I think that 99% of people should just play what they want in this game and have a good time. I don't think anyone has a right to say anything about another player queing into their lobby unless they are dead for a majority of that game. I also optimize FOR fun. This is a separate camp. I think the problem becomes where optimizers refuse to believe people just wanting a casual game can have fun in that environment, and the discourse that optimal play for some reason cannot possibly be fun. Some of us like eeking out that last 2%. End of the day just enjoy. : 3
I mean, that's the way it should be. I don't think you'll find alot of people having an issue with you tweaking your build in peace like a car lover tuning their vehicle to get an extra bit of speed out of it. In summary, I wish more optimizers were like you and just enjoyed doing their own thing without forcing it on others. Have a good one, glhf 🤠.
Im screenshotting you both for Posterity, cuz its like the Ultimate W Take on the matter!
In my day, the game you got was the game you got and you had fun in spite of its flaws. (spits in spitoon) In fact, you took those flaws as challenges to overcome with yer wits. (smokes a chain of cigs) It was until 07 i think it was when people were beginning to obsess over optimization, balance, and the 'holy' META. (chews chew) Ever since then, the game would have a timer on fun no thanks to META chasers kicking up a stink over what is the most optimal, thus only, way to play. (angrily grinding smoked jerky) The worst ones do so to manipulate "the META" to only their own playstyle to have an advantage.
There's actually two separate arguments in this video. 1. Don't attack other people for playing the way they want to play, even if they're bad and they die. 2. Don't attack other people for taking gear that trivializes the game in a public lobby On point 1 I agree. There's a few comments here complaining about playing with people who don't optimize being a drag on their games. That's silly. This game can be solo'd. If you're not good enough to solo, that's the only problem you can control so fix it and quit whining. Stop worrying about what other players are doing. On point 2 I don't entirely agree. On the one hand I agree that you shouldn't attack other people, I certainly don't, especially just for picking gear that's available in a public game. On the other hand I don't think some abilities like smite should be held in positive regard by the community. Someone doing nothing all game but turning the entire game into the psychaneum shooting range fundamentally ruins the experience of at least 1 person (me) if not the other 2 players in the game (likely). That's because the real goal of 'Tide games is not to win. The goal of a 'Tide game is to have a fun and challenging experience on the way. Sure, its better to have that and then win, but I'd rather have a great game then die just before beating it in some hysterical way than sit through another 45 minute session of smyker shocks the world.
See, this I can appreciate. We don't even disagree much on the ideal endgame. I'm only more flexible regarding its consistency. Something like smite shouldn't be considered skilled, but I like where the idea is rooted. A suppressive ability that deals little damage to give people reprieve reads as a great support tool. Unfortunately it's fundamentally easy to abuse, but I take the good with the bad here.
@@JebblesJunior I think smite is cool conceptually but its implementation when abused is just "1 guy turns off the enemy all game" which isn't really fun. Like I can already play sedition if I want. If it were a more targeted or limited CC ability that'd be fine. No one is mad about zealot stun grenades.
