    I was so close of selling my Speedmaster 1863, And I will always remember the good times I had with it, the compliments I got. Luckily I stopped and canceled Fed Ex shipment the next day and I was not going to sell it. Mine is a discontinued model and I’m still the original owner. And I feel better I still have it! No regrets!

      I have the Omega reference 311.30.42.30.01.006 and I wanted to replace it with a hesalite, but I chose to just keep the Sapphire Sandwich instead. I couldn’t resist seeing the 1863 movement. Also if you really want it back, I would advise to just get your Speedmaster Professional back. I think it’s nicer than the 57 in my opinion. Good luck!

    Wrong. You can swim with it. Not shower with it. You’re a fool. Do you not know anything about warm water vapor showers even with a submarina will eventually destroy the movement yet alone the alkaline soap on the crown opening and bracelet Swimming all day long is 100 percent safe with a speedmaster. Where did you learn your trade.

    Independents are my thing. In 2022 Stefan made a beautiful rose gold K2 for me known as the Rhododendron. In 2019/2020, I acquired three Mosers, a 38mm rose gold Endeavor, a Steamliner, and a Heritage with the funky blue dial. Since then I completed a piece unique with Michiel Holthinrichs and oddly enough, a Sous Marine ll with Laventure. Currently, I’m doing a piece unique project with James Lamb in the UK. Supporting and working with independents has been a great experience even though I still enjoy the occasional JLC or Cartier!

    weird that ive always felt the black face should be set to home time, and the white dial with a date to current location... i know where i am whther its am or pm... i need the home face to tell me am/pm so i know whether its ok to for example call someone home, also wherever i am i wanna know the date with a first glance, wouldnt wanna switch to home time just to check the current date... especially if its a different timezone and calculate whether or not a day has passed compared to hometime.. or wonder whether the home time is indeed ahead of my travel location... i mean im just blowing my own mind lol

    • @ThatEm
      @ThatEm 7 месяцев назад

      What I find fascinating about us watch collectors in the modern world is that we're still trying to find actual usefulness out of our toys. Everyone can put multiple timezones including am/pm/date as a widget on the lockscreen of their phones. Yet, we see these little machines doing remotely similar things mechanically and we're like "YES". But when I come to think about it, I absolutely hate calendar watches that give me the 'white/blue dot' for leap year aesthetically - as much as I'd hate having an 'am/pm' indicator and the same way I think most winding charge complications are ugly af (although useful)...we're a weird bunch :P

    The 1861 is a great option ..i bought mine just recently... would never pick the 3861 over that watch I actually owned the 1861 TWICE.. bought it back in 2018.. then again in 2021 Back then i thought i wanted a thin watch, and ended up with an IWC Mark 16... I just missed the speedy far too much...i missed the hesalite distortion.. that's so special (and not many people mention that there is much less glare and no finger print marks on a hesalite), i missed the manual wind, the slow beat rate and how that movement sounds Rebuying this watch on an alligator deployant (and Omega natos) has been totally worth it... even if i have to sell that IWC By the way, the dial in my mind is just much cleaner than the 3861 I'm never selling this watch.... this time its personal 😂

    Very interesting video! Actually I just bought my Speedmaster Professional and currently it seems impossible that I would sell it anytime. What would happen if a similar watch comes out and I’d like to grab that too? I really don’t know. So far I have kept all my watches even the ones I got as a child, but obviously they were all in another price range (neither of them crossed the 1000$ tag). The only watch I don’t have emotional connection with is my other mechanical chronograph, a Tissot Couturier automatic chronograph, but I even could not sell that one :D
