how fast are you going with your 6? i’ve head hangkai puts less horsepower then they advertise and i was wondering if the 6.5 is actually 6.5

@@mercadesdixon4472 I would definitely say so, my cot is 6 feet long itself and fit. During the deck build I didn’t trim anything off the length of a full 8 ft sheet of plywood. So you should have plenty of room!

@@Thatuglyjasion17 with 2 people it topped at 9.3 mph. With a single person it will do 11 mph. I will be doing another speed test with only myself in the boat soon to really test the top speed

@@IC-O With my Minn Koka 40 trolling, I am only getting 3. 9mph would be nice upgrade. What distance are you getting with the gas tank?

@@jonathansimmons4253 it will run for six hours or so at full rpm, I’ve spent a full 8 hours fishing eagle mountain lake, covering roughly 75% and still had plenty of fuel left for the trip back. It’s very fuel efficient!

@@BigTonysHouse that is definitely strange, is just not getting up to the rpm’s it should? Check out AYOFishing’s channel. He bought the exact same engine and it seems to move a johnboat with 2 at least 15 mph. Have you adjusted the trim also?

It does for the tiny trail cam battery I first used but after hooking it up to a small boat battery I can’t tell any difference unless I use the trolling motor a lot at the same time.

Huge upgrade! Smooth and wayy more quiet than the ol’ weed whacker engine! I can actually hear my speaker playing music while the motor is at full rpm’s. Plus a full tank(3.3 gallons) lasts the whole weekend of constant use.

@@wittelarry1 with both people and some it topped out at 9 mph. If I had trimmed it a little more I think it would’ve reached 10. I’ll have to do a solo speed test also

It actually handles very well. I haven’t dropped the video yet but I just replaced the engine to a 6 hp with a 3 gallon tank sitting at the rear and I do not notice much difference maybe an inch drop in comparison to the 15 pound weedeater engine that was previously on there

It will handle it, I have one with a 6hp hangkai and I stuff 3 people in mine and our gear.....just trim the motor good 👍

Thanks for the support. I really appreciate it!! I can comfortably walk up and down the deck in the center. I would not stand on the edges of these boats, but I have never tipped or thought that I was about to tip. It is sturdy enough for me. I have even put a cot on there and slept. I have jumped up and down on the deck of my boat, and even danced around like an idiot And stayed up the whole time! Lol Hope that helps

Haha I was standing up while fishing in this video but actually it’s not as bad as you would think. I’ll have to make a video as evidence, but it’s sturdy enough that I danced on the deck while on the water to see if it would flip. And she didn’t!

Lakeview marina is always a solid option they even have a restaurant and a shop there. But I’m on the west side of the lake so I launch from Pelican Bay. The park at shady grove is a huge spot for kayakers, swimmers and jet skis. Hopefully this helps!

I actually didn’t do anything special for the deck, it’s simply laid on top of the bench seat and cut to size that fits snug in place. Once cutting out the sections of plywood where the built in rod holders are on the boat it helped keep the deck from moving. But technically it can be lifted up and pulled out at anytime. Hope that helps!

The tent portion is not permanent and only gets put up while winter camping on the water. So with that off it’s just an open top John boat with a deck. The purpose of this specific video will be relative to future camping videos when it’s cooler outside. Mainly entertainment but also to inspire creativity with these kinds of projects.
