Some car shows, might do some historical locations, maybe some museums, and other events, and I hope it's interesting.
I have always been a car guy, and just love cars of all kinds, and all years. I hope to show how great of a car culture there is in Iowa.
I might try to hit some nearby car museums this winter.
I also enjoy history, and exploring some historical places around here, so I may try to do that some when Iowa's car show season winds down.

SCENIC CITY CAR SHOW. IOWA FALLS, IOWA. SEPTEMBER 2ND, 2024
I headed north!!! First time I went that direction for a show. I have undeserved that part of the state. Big show, with 279 cars. I screwed up though, you'll see in the video. Sorry about that. It was a fun day. I enjoyed my conversations. I know I should of lead with this, but no, the S-10 didn't win. 😔

I traveled to Mystic Iowa for their first annual car show. It benefited the Fire Department, the cemetery, and a couple of other entities in town. I looked up some history on the town, and it once had a population of 2700, and now it is down to just over 300. They were in need of the money, and they got a great turnout, with over 140 cars. The sweet Corn was delicious, and the cars were beautiful!!! You can't beat free!! this was a show, and shine, or cruise in, no awards. I didn't end of going to Winterset, sorry. Nice show. I think the heat kept some cars away, but there was a nice breeze, so it wasn't that bad. I lost a couple minutes of footage somehow, so I didn't get video of a couple cars, and I didn't take pictures of them either. If you don't know about chasing cars, it's pretty cool. Anoter nice show, another nice town. It was their first show, and they had over 160 cars. They plan on bigger and better things next year.

Interesting day. not as many stopped to visit, and have some free cold water, but I enjoyed the 6 or 7 who did stop. one got overhead, and passed out in our yard, he was ok, but they took to town in an ambulance. fun day listening to music and waving at the passersbys.

Great turnout, actually more than expected. They had to adjust the parking area a couple times, but they got everybody in. Knoxville Raceway, and the Marion County Fairgrounds is a neat place to have a show. I think 62 cars showed up, along with their owners. big show. they said it's one oldest in the country. Over 300 cars. I tried to get every car, but some left, and my battery died before I could get the last 2. It was hot, in the 90's, and was worn out at the end.

Day #2 taking in the awesome cars, roaming the huge crowd. 5500 cars I believe. Beautiful day so everyone came out to the show. Apparently attendance records were set, I believe it. I did not make it to day #3. it was raining when I got up, and I was tired. The Cadillac I said won awards at every show I had seen it at, won an award at this show too. It's pretty awsome, it deserves them.

I noticed you mainly record south of Hwy 30. Cool you headed north this weekend. What town are you based out of ?
@HotRodAl I didn't actually mean to do that. It just kinda worked out that way. I had been wanting to head north for a while. I'm in Knoxville. Hwy 14 between Knoxville and Newton has been closed all summer, so that played into it. Mostly, it just didn't work out till now.

I like that you are covering the small town shows. Something to think about is getting an Establishing Shot on some of the cars. That is the entire car in the frame , and hesitate for 2-3 seconds then move in for your normal walk around. Now if you get to a car were the other side is the money shot, do your normal thing then finish with the full screen shot. Not every car needs such detailed coverage. You'll know which cars deserves a little extra love. Have fun with high and low angles too.

Nice video, thank you. Considered the Boone show today for All American Weekend, then remembered the Iowa State game and opted out. Favorite from your video would be the AMX 390. The Mustang Mach 1 may be related to a memorial car show every year. Prowler should remove the front bumper triangles, the cars look great without them. Thanks again!

The good thing about traveling outside of your home area is all the new Eye Candy.
There was a few I had seen, but not many. Lots of really cool 30's cars is what I liked.

@HotRodAl I can't go Friday, and I was thinking of going to Red Oak Saturday. I'll look it up and see what it's all about.
@HotRodAl my S-10 is 29 years old, so I'm not allowed, 30 years and older only. Looks like a great event, I definitely would of changed my plans. I'll plan on going next year for sure.
@@SmallTownNobody2 I went over today (Saturday). I heard they had a 1,000 cars in at 9:00 and there was a line up to get in. Way different crowd then the GoodGuys in Des Moines. Most owners and spectators were 50 and older. The feel and lay out is like Chelsea Ia , just 3 times as many cars. If you have not been to Chelsea give it some thought. Big show in a very small town.
@HotRodAl I was in Oskaloosa the day of the Chelsea show, but I thought about going there. That nsra show is definitely on my list for next year, and Chelsea is too.

I go to a lot of car shows and it seems like more and more you see a lot of just normal cars with some wheels or just a brand new car. They seem to let absolutely anyone display a car. Car shows need to be for real show cars, rare cars, pro street, race cars and cars made before 1975. A 96 Caprice is not a show car, nor is a 2023 Dodge Challenger, you can go to a dealership and see them lined up.
@BulletSpoung a lot of people think that way, and I understand. The old hot rods are the stars of the shows, as they should be. I drive a 1995 S-10, it's got a built 350, a built 4l60e tranny, and a posi. There are people who don't even look at it, because it's to new. I don't win awards, but I do get compliments on it. I knew when I built it that would be the case. know some of the guys who own those new cars, and they are far far stock. They spent a lot of money, and a lot of time doing the modifications. For me if your proud of your car, and want show it off, it's fine that it's there. Nobody has to like it or look at if they don't like it. Those caprices weren't stock, and those guys were proud of them. To be honest, I don't like every car at every show, but I film them anyway, because that's somebody's baby, and I know it's cool to get some recognition, even it is just some video on RUclips, because chances are they are like me, they know they aren't going to win, but they have that glimmer of hope others will love thier ride as much as they do. That's just my opinion on things, and I totally get people don't like certain vehicles being at the shows. You like what you like, they like what they like. Like I said in the video, the only qualification for a car to be at a show, for me, is if your proud of it, and want ti show it off, bring it out. Wow, that got way too long. Another nice video of a pretty decent show. I always watch the videos with the sound muted, since the wife is usually watching tv. I was wondering which S10 is yours? If I had to guess I would say the white one with the Thrush decals on the doors. Have a great week and maybe see you at Baxter next weekend.
@@57tagger Thank you!!! You guessed right, the white S-10 is mine. It's a fun little truck, not an award winner, but I wasn't think that way when I built it. I haven't made plans yet, but Baxter is one I'm interested in. Hope to see you at that one.

@@SmallTownNobody2 it seemed like the wind helped a couple of them out. My passenger tire put in 90% of the work and I felt like I did damn good with one tire 😂
@daytoncossolotto4900 I think you did a hell of a burnout. I wanted to do it, but if I broke something, I don't have the money to fix it, so I would be sidelined probably till fall at least. You have to be confident in your vehicle to do that!!
